Naomi was starting to regret drinking so much wine. She was in the dancing tent, and the music made her want to dance, but because of her broken ankle, she couldn't. Her three canines were laying outside the tent, as they weren't allowed in with so many people. It gave Sarabi a chance to get to know Ayame and Akela. Well, that and it would give Ayame a chance to show the little pup how to deal with Akela's temper.
Naomi sighed as she sat on the sidelines, and watched as the other people paired off, and started dancing. She shook her head, and cursed her broken ankle. Why couldn't that have waited till after the gather? She shook her head again, there was too much wine in her system for her to really care all that much. Oh well, at least she would have a chance to relax a little, and she prayed that she wouldn't have a serious headache in the morning. Though, her chances of that were very slim.

He couldn't really remember how he got there. In fact, he couldn't remember much of the last few hours. Shards... he could have sworn he had been drinking a juice of some sort... juice shouldn't have done this to him! As a young man who had spent the last few years surviving on his own in the wilds, wines and alcoholic beverages had not been something he ever drank. As such, it apparently took only a few glasses of some sort of fruity wine to put him into quite the relaxed and giddy state. As he drifted through the crowd, miraculously not bumping in to too many people, the faint noise of music hit his ears.
Now, Korvin definately appreciated music, but never in his right mind would he have gone off in search of the stuff. It was something for pure entertainment; Korvin did nothing for pure entertainment. Regardless, his feet carried him off towards the sound as his body waved back and forth in time to the beat. He stopped outside the tent, staring rather dumbfoundedly at this wonderful discovery of colours and sounds. He really was a lightweight when it came to alcohol.
"Hey! You going in or just standing there? Come on, let's dance!" A young girl, likely in her early teens, said gleefully as she stepped by him, obviously wanting to enter the tent. When the wher candidate just gave her a stupified look, she grabbed hold of his hand and pulled him in. The boy still had no clue what was going on, even as his dance partner and he spiralled energetically around on the dance floor. It was dizzying, it was sloppy, it was... fun! A smile broke out on Korvin's face. It may have been a drunken, oblivious smile, but it was a real smile nonetheless. The dance ended all too soon and the girl, giggling with enjoyment, bid him adieu, leaving him to flop haphazardly in the nearest chair. However, little did he know through his drunken haze, that the chair he now sat in was directly beside his favourite female pain in the ass.

Naomi watched, shocked, as the one man she had tried to avoid, sat down right next to her. She looked away from him, and tried to pretend that she hadn't seen him. She was hoping, and praying, that he hadn't seen her. Maybe, just maybe, another girl would come along that would catch his attention, and take him away from her. The last thing she wanted right now was to have to deal with this...this...BARBARIAN while she was drunk. Oh why did he have to show up when she could feel a really good buz?

"You!" Korvin said suddenly as his eyes landed on Naomi, "You look awwwfully famile- familr - familar! Yea yea..." His lips stumbled over the words, "I shouuuld know yur naaaame, beautiful! But I dunno..." Yes.. he was making a fool of himself, but give the guy some credit, he was awfully drunk. He leaned over, resting his head on her shoulder as he looked up at her, his face red with drunken delight, "Why ain'tcha dancin' purrrty?"
Poor Korvin, had he realized how rediculous he sounded, he likely would have run off to the forest and fallen off another cliff. As it was, if he ever learned of his behavior in the future he would probably be too embarassed to show his face for a long time. All that work he had done making sure he came off as an independant, anti-social dick destroyed in a matter of moments, all because of a silly little drink.

Naomi jumped and turned to look at Korvin when he spoke. Crap!!!! He saw her!!!! She raised her eye brows when she heard him stumbling over his words. Such a simple word too, and she had thought he was an intelligent person. Then it struck her, he was drunk. Oh what torture could she cause him, and he probably wouldn't even remember what had happened in the morning.
Naomi really couldn't think of anything to say when he called her beautiful, or when she realized that he didn't even remember who she was. Oh well, she was drunk, but thankfully not as drunk as him. She still had a small sense of who she was, and who he was for that matter. She knew that she liked him, but for some reason she had never told him. Well, a few more drinks and maybe, just maybe, she might tell him the truth. Though, she hoped that would never happened.
Naomi looked down at the drunk man when he leaned over, and laid his head down on her shoulder. I can't dance. Her words were slightly slurred, but still recognizable for what they were. She shook her head, and turned away from him again. She really did need another drink. Unfortunately she didn't feel like walking off to go get it. She sighed and hung her head. This was turning out to be an awful night, but then again, no one knows what the future holds.

Korvin began to chuckle uncontrollably at the expression on her face. The expression itself reminded him that he did indeed know her, even if his thoughts and memories were a bit - ok a lot- fuzzy at the moment. He sat up suddenly, a look on his face that scream I got a brilliant idea'! "I can carry you!" He claimed, though he really was too drunk to be to steady. Regardless, he stood up quickly, half losing his balance and stumbling into the girl from earlier. However, this time she had a tray laden with a bottle and glasses, obviously acting the part of waitress for the night.
He blinked up apologetically at her, but she merely chuckled. "I shouldn't be letting you have any more, but its my job to ask. Might either of you partake in a drink? It's Benden '96." Not the best year for Benden wine, but Benden was Benden. Korvin, grinning, accepted a glass, kissing the girl on the cheek in thanks before stumbling back into the chair to enjoy it. "Aaaaah delishus," He complimented, though he couldn't really taste anything, or at least wasn't really registering the taste. The girl offered Naomi a drink as well, before bowing and heading off to the next occupied chair.
"Sho miss I can't dance.." Korvin stumbled in his speech again, though he didn't notice at all, "Wha' are ya doin' 'ere if ya don' dance?"

Naomi jumped and turned to face Korvin once again. Had he just said he'd carry her?! She shook her head quickly, there was no way she was going to let this man carry her again, even if it was to dance! She couldn't the giggle that escaped her when he stumbled out of his chair, and into an unsuspecting waitress. She turned her head away from both Korvin, and the girl when the man kissed the waitress. I'm sorry about him miss. Thank you. She gratefully took a cup of the wine, and drank half the glass in one gulp.
Then, she turned and shook her head at Korvin. You shouldn't be drinking so much. Naomi wasn't sure how much the man had already had to drink before he stumbled into her, but she was sure he didn't need any more. Her voice was flat, and unemotional as she spoke. She gave him a very unemotional look as he asked her what she was doing there. I'm here for the music and the drink. Though, it's none of your buisness. Needless to say she wasn't happy with him, or with herself for that matter.
Naomi needed another drink, but since she was almost positive she wouldn't be able to walk in a very straight line, she decided to just sit where she was quietly until someone came around with more drinks. She held the empty cup in her hand and thought quietly to herself. She wasn't getting anywhere fast with the way she was going. She knew candidates weren't supposed to have intimate relationships, but would she even be able to have one with this man?

"Hey it's a gather, right? A time to let loose!" The waitress replied cheerily as she walked off. Korvin grinned cheekily at Naomi. "Hear tha'? Time t' let loose." He replied, not caring about her comment about drinking. In his mind, he had come this far, what was there to lose from drinking more? Not to mention.. he was unbearably thirsty. He took a good swig of the drink, finishing off the glass, and looked into it sadly, as if wondering where it had gone.
He leaned over, falling onto her lap at an odd angle, but he didn't seem to notice how uncomfortable it looked. "Why ya so tense?" He asked, not noticing how unwanted his attention was. All he knew was he was comfy. For the time being anyway. He wasn't thinking of relationships or candidacy or anything. All he knew was he felt better tonight than he had since coming to the Weyr, as if he was free of all those plagueing thoughts and memories.

Naomi shook her head at his words. This was NOT a time to let loose for her, the exact opposite actually. She needed to keep her wits about her, and not do anything she would regret. She sighed, and looked around her, wondering if there was some way, any way, to free herself from him. The last thing she wanted to do right now was listen to this man's drunken rambling.
Naomi jumped when she felt him land in her lap. Excuse me, but what do you think you're doing? She looked down at him with her eye brows raised. She shook her head, and decided not to answer his question. Didn't he realize that he was the reason she was so tense? Especially since what had happened in the forest. She needed another drink, and now getting up and getting one was out of the question. It was hard enough standing up on her own, let alone trying to get this giant of a man off her lap.

“I am relaxin’, you wild wom’n,” He replied, slurring lightly from the alcohol in his system. “You should do th’same! It feels wooonderful!” He spread out an arm as he spoke, not noticing how ridiculous he sounded. Never in his life had he drank like this, and the sheer freedom he felt from it was exhilarating. He would pay for it in the morning, he was aware of that much, but he was too far gone to care about anything other than relaxing. No thoughts plaguing him, no worries about impressing or surviving or hunting; tonight he was just Korvin.
In some deep recess of his mind, he could almost feel that she was annoyed with him, though whether it was his imagination or not, he couldn’t tell. As such, he remained where he was for the time being, definitely becoming way too comfortable on her lap. Another sad look was given to his empty glass, and he raised an arm up, waving it in the air until another worker happened by. A drudge this time, but a drudge with more wine, so Korvin happily held out his cup for a refill. The drudge offered to fill up Naomi’s as well.
“Th’Weyr is good…” Korvin commented, “All you can drink, all th’time! Spectacular…” He swirled the cup lightly, watching the wine slosh against the sides of the glass and wanting to sit up and drink it, but he was loathe to move.

Naomi narrowed her eyes at Korvin when he spoke. She had never seen a man with such little control over himself after he had a little wine. Sure she was feeling a little tipsy, but she was nowhere near as drunk as he was. Oh and was he ever going to regret this night! She was going to make sure of that. She just had to keep her wits about her and keep herself from getting in trouble.
Naomi rolled her eyes and shook her head at the man. I'm perfect just the way I am. And I really don't think you need anymore wine. She shook her head when the drudge offered to fill her cup, and gave Korvin an exasperated stare when he had his filled. She didn't sign up to be his babysitter for crying out loud. Oh well, I guess I'm stuck with him anyways. She sighed at the thought, and really wished something would happen, or someone would come along and save her.
Get your hand off my lap! Naomi's voice wasn't much more than an unhappy growl. She turned away from him, and was glad when she felt his hand fall away from her lap. She shook her head at him, and really wished she could beat him over the head with a frying pan. Then again...maybe a pot would be better... An evil smirk appeared on her face at the thought, and she couldn't keep back the laughter that came spilling from her mouth.

Had Korvin been aware of how vicious Naomi could really be, he probably would have sobered up on the spot, but let’s face it, he was too drunk to realize how many mental daggers she was sending his way. He had already downed his glass of wine by the time what she had said sunk in.
“Nonsense woman! I'z too delicious t’pass up, an’ it feel s’good…” He trailed off as he tipped back the cup in an attempt to get the last sip out again. Nah, nothing left. When had he drank it all? A great mystery of the world, indeed. Her sudden unhappy growl caused him to jump slightly, once again proving just how far gone he was. A pout spread across his face.
“Why’re you so mean, Naomi?” Her name was practically a purr on his slips as he slurred the words together. “You were so nice in th’forest, even if y’did steal my firs’ kiss and all.” His eyes were drooped lazily and his hand hadn’t moved; he had forgotten it was even there in the first place, so distracted he was by her laughter. There she was, being pretty again. Silly woman…
