Appearance
Zion stands a bit shorter than most males his age, only reaching around five feet five inches in height. In addition to standing out due to his height, his unusual hair color also gains him odd glances. His hair, a bright, flaming red-orange, is usually messy, since he isn't typically vain about his appearance. In fact, usually his tunics and breeches are also worn and dirty, despite being able to get replacements of a higher value.
Bright blue eyes, usually over-bright from excitement, are framed by thick red eyebrows. In tradition of usually looking a bit (if not very) unkempt, Zion usually has a smattering (or more) of facial hair that he is simply too lazy to shave. He walks without any air of purpose, preferring to meander his way through the Weyr and Hold.
Despite being out in the sun a lot, Zion remains pale, which he attributes to his red hair. Oddly enough, he has no freckles, but was born with a birth mark across his right bicep, no more than a discoloration of the skin there, making it darker than the rest of his body.
Slender, Zion is rather willowy in appearance, though his muscles are toned enough for the duties a rider need perform. While he is on the rather scrawny side, he makes up for it by eating twice as much as anyone else around him, although it never seems to work, for he stays abominably skinny.
Personality
Lazy
To say Zion is lazy would be an understatement. If he doesn't want to do something, he simply... doesn't. He has a very good knack at disappearing when there is work to do, and would much rather laze and gad about doing something fun than anything productive. The only work he might possibly be able to be coerced into is anything to do with food, for he loves eating.
Determined[/color]
While Zion is lazy, he's also incredibly determined. If he wants something, he won't give up until he either achieves whatever his goal is, or he dies in the attempt. Thankfully, his death hasn't occurred yet, but quite a few bones have been broken, and he's gotten many whacks on the head from the cooks from his trying to steal food from the kitchens. He's also gotten some good bruises and scrapes from his adventures-- or rather, misadventures.
Jokester
Zion loves a good practical joke. While this can sometimes lead him into immeasurable amounts of trouble, he has often been the source of much mirth from those around him. More than not, the joke somehow turns around to be on him instead of someone else, but Zion learned a long time ago how to laugh at himself, and it never bothers him.
Curious
Zion wants to know everything. How it works, why it works, how it was made, why it was made... he just wants to know. While one would assume this would lead him to being rather hide-bound, studying past records, Zion never learned to read due to his laziness, so instead he simply runs around and asks questions of anyone who is foolish enough to answer. One question of his always leads to another, so anyone who answers him will usually be stuck with him for hours on end as they answer question after question after question.
Faithful[/color]
In addition to being determined, Zion is faithful. He has belief in not only himself, but also others. This leads him to see the good in everyone, which can sometimes bring trouble falling down on him, for not everyone in the world is as good and kind as he believes them to be, but he's usually sharp enough to avoid too much error in this facet of his personality.
Scattered[/color]
Disorganization is key to Zion. His quarters are always messy, just as he is. His thoughts are often scattered, and he tends to jump from one thing to the next without a second thought, leaving lots of unfinished projects (only the important projects are the ones he either completes or dies trying for). To find Zion, one usually only has to follow the wake of chaos he leaves behind him.
Involved[/color]
Zion is in the middle of everything. While he doesn't like to work (or more specifically, being ordered to work), he is often found helping the cooks, helping the drudges, exploring abandoned caverns, sticking his nose where it doesn't belong (including the Hatching Grounds before he's allowed to on more than one occasion!) and just generally getting under everyone's feet and being in the way.
Naive
At heart, Zion is still a child, which leads him to be rather naive at moments... well, most moments, to be honest. This child-like naivete also causes him to be rather innocent and modest and playful. He's more likely to be found playing with sticks and stones, building a castle in the middle of the Weyrbowl, or fighting imaginary enemies with a stick than chasing after women like most men his age.
Self-Reliant[/color]
Zion has come to depend on himself more than on others. He'll sew his own clothes and fix his own food rather than waiting on others to do it for him. Of course, this might be born of impatience, but then again, it's a trait that defines him, as his shirts are always patched (rather poorly, as he doesn't sew very well) and his boots usually thread-bare.
Hears All Dragons[/color]
While he discovered at a young age that he could hear all the dragons in the Weyr, Zion doesn't flaunt his ability. He does, however, occasionally rouse a dragon in ways that will benefit him to getting out of work.

History
Zion was born to two drudges in Fort Weyr. With no dragon-rider heritage in his blood, Fort was shocked when he revealed at a young age that he could not only hear all the dragons of the Weyr, but also speak to them as well.
It was no shock, then, that at ten turns he was Searched and placed before a Queen's clutch. It, was, however, a shock that he didn't Impress.
Many chalked it up to him being too young, but as years passed and he still failed to Impress, many became worried. Was he just going to stay a troublesome nuisance forever?
At twenty turns, then, Fort decided to send him off to Trelis Weyr. They were tired of his tricks and jokes, and were tired of having him fail to Impress, which they assumed would impress (pardon the pun) a sense of duty upon the young troublemaker.
Fort hopes he will have better luck at Impressing at Trelis, and well, if he doesn't... Zion is Trelis' problem now, not theirs.
While some would say he did have better luck, some would say the opposite, as he Impressed to Amethyst Blacklight Odilyth, who is... not the nicest dragon, to say the least...

Appearance:
Blacklights can be any size their twin can be. That's right, they are only the product of twins, and Blacklights are only the same gender of that twin! Also, if their twin can clutch, they have that same ability. That means Odilyth will be able to clutch one egg after her first flight…but only that one. Because of this, there is no set look for a Blacklight except two things. One, their hide is black as an eclipsed sky. Two, their markings mirror the color of their twin's color, and glow in the dark. Odilyth particularly has neon purple markings being the twin of an Amethyst, and has a sharp and deadly grace about her. She is 22.8 ft long at full growth as well.
Personality:
Unlike the rest of her clutchmates that embody traits, Odilyth is the literal black swan of the clutch. No one expected that such an opposite could ever exist, yet here she is. A female version of a Garnet, the opposite of an Amethyst; Odilyth is devious, manipulative, and sensual. She is everything that her red brother and mother try to keep locked up, but she wouldn't think twice of holding back. She enjoys being cruel actually, and has a habit of using her more sensual abilities and persuasion to have “fun.” Yes, fun meaning bringing pain to someone else. She’s an evil little thing, and she won’t even think about denying it. It’s not to say that she doesn’t have a heart though, there are a few select times when the dragonet will actually care about something. However, she has a habit of destroying it one way or another.

Dark and sultry, Odilyth's voice is like glass breaking and a sweet caress all at once. It hurts, yet somehow that pain never registers. It's an odd feeling to have, and not one that should be wished on anyone.

You are mine to control Zion, one way or another all my desires will be fulfilled. Your power is mine to cultivate, and you have the ability to become just as wonderful as me. It might take time to mold you into what I deem perfect, but you will get there, and in the mean time we'll cut down anyone in our way.[/center]
