Hello, and welcome everyone. This is Trelis Weyr, a semi to non-canon Dragonriders of Pern site. We're a fun and active community, and always love to get new ideas and members. Pern has had turns since AIVAS was found, and in those, a meteorite has collided with the Red Star sending it back into orbit. Thread rained down on Pern again. In an attempt at salvation, two Queens and a wingful of dragons were sent back in time. They found a small island, and founded Trelis Weyr. Today, Pern waits for the second Pass of thread to start, but something has changed. New colors are being found all over Pern, and the pernese people fight over whether they should be accepted or not. Some think that they are abominations, others that they are a strength to the Weyrs. Which side will you take?

News
With the coming of a new season, Trelis welcomes a new weyrling class the Nightsingers to their ranks. For the first time in a long while, everything is peaceful. The hard times of the past few seasons have finally become just a memory, and everything has returned to normal once more. Or at least as normal as it can get with Trelis. Lessons continue, and preparations are being made for a late Gather and a Graduation. There is news of wher eggs being brought in to the wher hold as well.
We are always updating the site, so check the news and Ooc boards regularly to make sure that you don't miss anything.

Ooc Chatter (3 sub-boards) Here's where you discuss out of character stuff. It can be anything from school to your dog, or cat if that's what you prefer. Just please don't bash people in threads here, it will be deleted.
The Caverns (3 sub-boards) The caverns are some of the lowest places in Trelis. Being on the same level as the hatching sands, candidate barracks and dining hall, they are easily accesible to and from the outside by those who do not have dragons. Weyrfolk live here that are not bonded, and the weyrbrats and drudges also work here, are raised here. The infirmary is found here as well, along with rooms for people to practice their crafts like weaving.
Hatching Sands The hatching sands are located on the outside of Trelis in a small dip between two mountains. The sands are hot and open to the elements. Though most would think this not a good thing, the Queen that lays her eggs there protects them endlessly. High walls surround the sands with rows of stands for weyrfolk, riders and handlers to sit and watch. In a corner on the outskirts of the area is a long table where during a hatching, oils and buckets of food can be found for the newly impressed. When a wher lays her eggs here though, she uses caverns dug into the side of the walls instead, that way she and her eggs are shielded from the blinding sunlight.
Hatching Sands The hatching sands is outside the actual wher hold, but still somewhat attached to it via the candidate barracks and Alpha Handler quarters. Much like the Hatching Sands at the Weyr, these sands have stands for viewing the eggs. They also have a nice expanse of sand for the candidates to stand on. The difference is that inside one part of the walls are a few shallow caves for the mothers to clutch and stay.
The river goes inland through the mountains toward Trelis. Once it reaches the Weyr, it breaks off into two portions. Both sides are often frequented by weyr and holdfolk.
Crescent Bay is one particular beach where people will go. It's located close to the Weyr so the travel distance is fairly short for those who cannot between. It is in a crescent shape, and holds one of the coral reefs around the island as well.
Sollace Hold (2 sub-boards) Sollace Hold is located on the North Western side of the island. It is the first hold created there, and also holds the fisherman and other such halls. Being the more agricultural of the two holds, a lot of the stronger candidates and weyrfolk come from Sollace.
Apolla Hold (2 sub-boards) Apolla Hold is found on the South Eastern side of the island. Being in the more dense jungle instead of closer to the shore, it houses less of the island's fisherman and traders, and more of the Harpers. In fact, this is where many of Trelis' harpers are taught if they do not come from the other two continents.
The Gathers The Fall Gather has started officially. There are storm clouds on the horizon, but the riders could care less. Today is the day to attract attention and make a name for themselves, the annual try-outs for wing positions has come around again!
Make a stall, participate in the events, sell wares IC and Ooc too. Most of all, have fun.
