Site Information
Hundreds of years have passed since, guided by AIVAS and aided by their dragons, the Pernese people were able to shift the course of the Red Star that had rained down destruction and death for all the turns they had been living there. It brought about an era of peace and advancement that had never before been seen on the planet, but in this new world, dragons had no real place... What would they do now that their one true task was finished, that their one true enemy was no longer around?
Clutches began to dwindle, slowly, then faster and faster, even as those dragons that did hatch shrunk in size, and grew less and less intelligent. More often the clutches were so heavily inbred that the eggs themselves were duds and the search for candidates became almost non-existant...
Now, centuries after the threat of the Red Star has passed, dragons no longer resemble the huge, fearsome, regal creatures they once did... Instead the remnants of their kind are either dangerous, feral beasts more akin to whers than their ancient ancestors, or the so called dragon-kin, creatures which appear to be dragons in miniature but in truth serve functions similar to runnerbeasts than real dragons... The size of horses, they are capable of only limited bonding, do not speak, and cannot flame or Between, though they have a greater endurance and speed than horses, and so are often used to carry messages between holds, or similar ways. Whers, too, have all but gone extinct, only a few dwindling numbers remaining in the furthest, highest mountains, and so little is left of either of Pern's once great species.
Everything seems fairly idyll on Pern these days... At least, until one hears about the growing number of children that are going missing, seeming to disappear between one day and the next without leaving so much as a trace of evidence behind... Never younger than ten or older than twenty, boys and girls of all types are simply vanishing without a trace, leaving the holds in a panic, wondering who might get taken next and doing everything they can to prevent the loss.
What those left behind in the Holds do not know is that, before their disappearance, each child was approached by a stranger, a man who's companion was like anything they had ever seen... With the stranger had been a dragon, a dragon that towered twice as tall as the largest dragonkin, and spoke gently in their minds... The pair told each child of an oncoming danger, of fire from the sky that would spell disaster for Pern, which had been left without any defenses with the dragons all but died out. The children were told of Impression, of Candidacy and Weyrlinghood, of a secret weyr, the very last bastion of dragonkind, and a clutch that lay on the sands, awaiting those candidates that could possibly bond to then... If the children did not come to the weyr, then the dragonets inside those eggs would die, and Pern's last and greatest hope would die with them. And that they must come in secret, for if word got out, the people of Pern would panic and might, in their fright, swarm to the weyr in numbers that would be unfathomable, and could possibly even damage the eggs in an attempt to take them for themselves.
And so child after child agreed to leave their holds, in secret, to join the rider, and return to Alaula Weyr, to stand for a clutch and possibly Impress to dragons that would, hopefully, be able to, in time, turn back the threat of the returning Thread. There was no other choice, no other resort to turn to... They were the only ones who could possibly stop the total annihilation of their people and the Armageddon of their world.
They would either defend Pern, or die trying.

As a brand new site, we have quite a bit to offer to new players! Not only do we have a unique history that allows the player to quite honestly take Pern's future into their own hands.
We have several brand new non-cannon ranks to round out the traditional colors a bit, including a brand new pet species, Swiftlizards. Check all that out here : Species Information
With a clutch on the sands : Zombie Apocalypse Clutch , you can choose to either make a candidate, or create your own dragonrider! Simply check the Avalability Thread And while wherhandlers aren't currently available for creation, they will be after a future, upcoming plot!
Weyrling lessons not your style? While we have a set standard for lessons, you can also choose to go a less structured route. Simply go : Timeline and Lesson Structure to check all that information out.
Plotlines will be frequent, and very much player-involved! How the player's characters react and respond to individual plots will effectively shape the weyr and the future of Pern itself.
Monthly contests will allow players a chance to earn up marks as well as some delicious prizes!
There's a whole lot more coming your way from Alaula Weyr, so be sure not to miss out!
