A'dfin's head swam as he tried once again to sit up. His white hair was marred with red from a cut at his temple, below a knot that was starting to form along his hairline. He and Svirath had been walking on the beach, not really believing the darkness that lingered on the horizon would be there for much... much later, he could still feel svirath there, in his mind, so he wasnt worried about his partner. There were no feelings of pain aside from his own, so he was doubly secure.
Finally making it to his elbows, a wave of nausea hit him and he was forced to the wet sands again. So it was his ribs that were broken or at the very least bruised. His left leg looked akward as he caught sight of it before he blacked out from the pain again...
The next time he awoke, it seemed much later. The sun which had been hidden by the remaining stormclouds when he woke last, was almost reaching it's end and the sunset painted the beach in a red glow. His Svirath slept close against his side, with his nose tucked against His neck. He was afraid to move again, the pain was now only a dull throb, but he knew if he tried it would rip him apart again. "So Svir... what are we going to do?"
The draconic eye popped open swirling with worry and he popped up, "Mine! I wont leave you mine..." the worry coming from the opal was completely evidentin the earnestness of the dragonet's voice.

Ah Mine~ Braymoth spoke in an almost singsong voice as he frolicked through the wreckage. Is this chaos not simply delicious. The screams, The blood. It is wonderful. His tail flicked from side to side as he looked over the remains of Sollace. Yufa sighed, doing her best to block out the sheer joy she could feel from her bonded. She should have been in the infirmary, but the garnet had been makign the injured and the healers nervous, so she had been asked to head out and do triage on the field. As long as she could be helpful, that’s what mattered. From somewhere off to her right, she heard Braymoth make another gleeful comment about the carnage.
“Braymoth, please.” She finally said, trying to remain poised despite the dead bodies everywhere. Braymoth circled her, wrapping his head up near her ear as he hissed YufaMine.. You hurt me so. I am carefully listening to the screams of terror to find someone for you and you do not appreiciate it at all. So harsh to your Braymoth. Yufa bit her lip, feeling mildly chastised while the red dragon bounded up ahead again. They continued moving for a while, towards the beach, until she suddenly felt a surge of delight from her red dragon. Ahh delicious pain. BrotherMine what have you gotten Yours into. Yufa pushed the garnet aside, receiving a quick lash of his tail against her back, which only served to push her on the ground near the injured man.
“A-Ad’fin!” She cried, recognising her fellow weyrling. “What happened?” She pulled out her med kit as she spoke, eying his body as she tried to figure out what had happened. She hadn’t had much training before impressing Braymoth, but she knew enough for simple wounds and on-site work. She reached out tentatively, hoping to brush the hair away from what looked like a cut on his forehead, but she didn’t want to move too quickly, afraid of hurting him or doing anything without his consent. She gulped, his legs looked injured as well. Was there more elsewhere?

A'dfin's blood had sank into the sands beneath him. The wound in his back had fed the earth his life's essence until all that was left of him was a shadow. His already pale skin and white hair looked ghostly, a mere wraith clinging to the edges of life.. He registered Yufa dimly through his Svirath's eyes. The little opal's grief was almost unbareable. Nothing else made it through his drained system. Svirath's pain lingered. It was the only thing that was real in his darkening world. his arm curled around his dragon's forelegs, his head resting against the opal's heart.
The young opal was so distraught and greif stricken that all he could do was rest his head against His's shoulder and wait for the death he knew would come. then he would take them both to a brighter place where they would play for an eternity. The flickering thoughts from His were so faint. a small smile curved Ad'fin's lips even as the glaze of oblivion settled over his eyes. With one last cough, a trickle of blood slipped from the corner of his mouth and the boy felt the too hot hand of the garnet rider as he clenched his own hand weakly around the oval music box charm Lene had given him earlier in the week to make missing his mother easier to handle. As the last moments slipped by, the silent opal nudged the necklace so it's soft melody could be heard. His trembling voice echoed for yufa as the necklace fell.
"For Jillalene..." The pain came then. With a final shudder, the last of Ad'fin's life slipped away, just as the last note from the necklace chimed. It was followed by the Opal's scream of pain and loss, Svirath betweening them to their next adventure, this time, in the afterlife.

The scent of blood is strong on this one. Does it taste like yours I wonder? The garnet had no tact at times like this. Yufa sent him an angry mental nudge to shove off and let her work. However, his comment about blood was worrying, and another look brought Yufa’s attention the pool of blood beneath the man. She gasped, if he was injured enough o lose that much blood… that was outside Yufa’s range of knowledge, she needed to get him help! The way Svirath moved also worried her, for while he didn’t seem to have any wounds of his own, he looked far from okay.
Then the realization began to hit, not from the blood coming from his mouth or the lack of noise from the pair, but by the soft, gentle motion Svirath made, and the sound of the melody, suddenly seeming louder than all the noise around, seemed to be the only thing Yufa could hear. She stared wide-eyed at the necklace, willing the feeling of worry and doubt she had to go away. A tear trickled out of her eye as he forced out a final thought, the words alone making the reality of the situation hit her like a ton of bricks.
“Ad’fin no! NO!” her arms dropped to thr ground beside her as she yelled, trying to force the man to keep fighting, to not give in. As the last note died out, as the opal rider’s life left him, the tears fell in earnest and Yufa cried. The sound of her sorrow meshing with Svirath’s cry of pain and continuing long after the Opal ceased to exist; the only reminder he had been there at all was the outline of his body in the mud. It was hard to say how long she cried, her head resting in her hands as she tried to get a hold of the feeling. It was worse, so much worse, than anything she had felt before. Even as an healer, death had not been something she knew yet, and the connection she had with the man, as a classmate, and as a friend, made the pain all too real. She picked up the necklace, clutched it to her chest, and cried barely hearing Braymoth‘s own keen.
It was hard to tell how much time passed. She felt a pressure on her shoulder, and, still bleary-eyed, glanced over to see Braymoth’s head resting on her shoulder. The normally red-tinged eyes swirling with worry and distress at His‘ intense emotions. He said nothing, simply remaining there quietly until His’ tears had stopped flowing. She held his head in her arms and accepted help from the young dragon, slowly coming to her feet as he raised her up. Turning away, and swearing not to look back, she strode off, supported by the garnet. He remained quiet, knowing she was at her limit for pain.
