Vl'kan sighed, dragging his hand across his face. They had been out near the river all day it seemed, practicing the strength and stamina routines Panille had thrust upon them the previous day. It was exhausting, draining even, but Thormyth had refused to let up in the slightest.
Thormyth snorted, lashing his tail against the grass as he looked upon the sprawled form of His. Rise Mine. The day is not done and neither are we. Bounding across the grass he leaped and landed with a heavy thud, his front claws landing on His' chest. The man grunted and hissed as the wind was knocked out of him and the garnets claws scraped his bare chest. After his first few shirts were ruined from his companions reprimanding claws, the young Lord had taken to going shirtless during their solitary training sessions. "We've been at it all day! Five minutes of rest won't hider our training."
Obviously the young dragon felt otherwise as he rumbled his response and slowly pulled away from His. Vl'kan sat up and dabbed at the scratches on his chest with a rag he carried for just this occasion. Pushing himself from the ground he strolled across the grass towards his companion and scratched the sulky garnet along his eye ridges. "Why don't you go in the water and impose your will upon the helpless fish? The water resistance will definitely help strengthen your muscles."
Thormyth cocked his head to the side and gazed at the water. He did need to grow stronger and faster. Then everyone would pay attention to him! He would show them all how great he really was. With that thought in mind the red hued dragonet puffed out his chest and strode towards the waters edge. Within seconds he was submerged up to his wings and splashing loudly in the crisp waters.
Vl'kan watched his companions antics for a few moments longer before wandering off towards one of the trees along the bank of the river. He dropped to the ground with a low grunt and let his back rest against the trunk. It felt good to sit down and relax. He shifted against the rough bark for a moment till he got comfortable and let his arms cross lightly against his chest. The string of emotions and the occasional thought from Thormyth as he splashed after the fleeing fish brought a light smile to the young Lords face. Since that eventful night back in Ista that led the fiesty dragonet to choose him, Vl’kan had begun to learn why the young garnet had picked him and how alike they truly were. Yawning softly the man left his eyes drift shut, intent on taking advantage of this rare moment of peace.

Jillalene grinned watching her flits Rokai and Akiko chasing eachother in the shallows of the river. The two would run around crazily in circles, then with a plop, one would dissapear under the water a bit further in and cause the other to follow. She was glad they got along so well. She grinned settling her shoes beside the large tree a little ways from the water, and pulled her dress over her head, folding it and settling it with her shoes, leaving her in her white mid thigh length sleeveless shift. Generally she didnt worry. The people on the island tended to leave things that werent their's untouched. Well, with the acception of her fellow weyrling F'lon.
A wave of annoyance washed over her and she responded with a quick grin as she waded into the water where her blue was waiting for her. Eulurth rolled his eyes as Akiko plopped into the water in front of him and surfaced somewhere behind him. Did you have to bring those two Mine?
Yes Eulurthlove, you know I did. Aki gets in trouble by herself and Kai gets lonely. So yes, they had to come. Now stop worrying about the little ones and lets work on that strength of yours some more okay? She laid an arm across his back , her body fitting against his just behind his wingjoints, and tucked her legs against herself so they were out of range of his legs. Her weight being distributed between her dragonet and the water.
The dragon, submerged to his wings, wouldnt ordinarily be able to handle her full weight yet, he was still too young, and she knew it. But Eulurth's pride and obsession with becoming better and stronger than his sub and king brothers, was relentless in his persuit of increasingly difficult training, and didnt let up until she aggreed to at least compromise with him. She'd already had to go through three hours of complaining that the regular physicality training was not enough for someone like him, and had been insisting that she add herself to the resistance factor. She'd finally talked him into this water training, only consenting because the water would help her keep most of her weight off of him, but also, the water's resistance against his movements would make him happy, increasing both his strength and endurance. She still worried about him though. Is this okay?
He turned his head, nudging her cheek gently with his snout, and she scratched his eyeridges gently.
I'm fine Lovemine. You just make sure you hold on.
In no time at all they were splashing away up the rivers depths, flanked by the two flits who sometimes came to sit on her shoulders, dripping and cuddling against her. They continued like this for a while, until a red shape caught their attention ahead of them and without a word, Eulurth pulled her out of the water with him and let her find her feet. Studying the garnet, she realized this wasnt Yuffa's Braymoth. And she looked over the splashing dragon as she backed away at Eulurth's urging. He didnt want to take any chances with his meeting a Garnet. ahh this must be the Ista'n garnet then. ... Thormyth, unless im mistaken. She couldnt remember the boy who'd impressed to that one's name and sighed. His name is v'lkan lovemine....And you're about to!!! was all the large blue got out before His tripped over the apparently sleeping form of the young man himself.
A small eek was all she could manage before hitting her rear in the grass beside the boy, and being tackled by her flits, both anxious and sending mental pictures to her in a hazy flash of concern and anxiety over whether or not she'd been hurt.

Thormyth lifted a claw and swiped at the water beneath him, his red streaked gaze swirling happily as the helpless fish scattered before his might. He held his wings high and completely stretched out over the water as he plodded through the clear river, looking somewhat like a sea monster from the stories of old. He could already feel the strain on his young muscles from his time wading through the river. Perhaps His had been right when he suggested the water resistance. Thormyth snorted at the thought but still twisted his head to look back to where His was dozing in the shade of a tree. Well, there was no need to inform him that he could have been right. No, that wouldn’t do at all.
The young garnet paused for only a few moments longer before he was drawn right back to his previous game of torturing the aquatic life. That was until a smaller blue shape heading directly towards His, caught his attention. Vl’kan had just drifted off into a light doze when he was startled awake by the girl who had tripped over his still frame to land in the grass beside him. Thormyth snarled as he watched the female two-legged trip over his and quickly thrashed through the water till he reached the shore and stalked towards His and the other. The garnet came to a halt a few feet away from His and eyed the man carefully. Are you well, Vl’kanMine? Shall I crush these fools who dare disturb you? Thormyth glanced down at the girl, who he was quite close to as well, before turning his gaze on the younger blue.
No, no. It’s fine, Thor. Stand at ease, I’m sure it was just an accident. The young Lord spoke to his companion through their mind link, hopefully setting the crimson dragonet at ease for now, before he turned his attention to the young girl who had nearly fallen into his lap. He had to admit, it was a rather nice sight to wake up to. “Are you okay? You’re not hurt are you?” Vl’kan offered the girl a friendly smile as he grabbed the spare shirt at his side and quickly pulled it on. “I didn’t think anyone else would be out here. Thormyth and I were just finishing up a day’s training.”

Jillalene patted eulurth assuringly as he snaked his head over her shoulder with a menacing look at the slightly older garnet. Easy my love. It wont do to make enemies of the istan weyrlings... yet. [/b] She sent a soothing calmness along her link with her partner meeting one fiercly swirling orange and red eye with her own calm gaze and smiled when his reply sounded sharp and menacing in her mind.
I may not be a subking mine, but if he thinks he can touch you he's very much mistaken....I'll fight the sharding bloodling to the death...
Enough love. We'll be just fine you and I. Go on back up stream then come back. It'll help I promise.[/i]
After another glare at the garnet, the large blue nuzzled his, unseating the flits, who both chattered angrily at him, and he dismissed them with a shake of his head. With one last thought of malice toward the boy bonded to the Garnet he flicked his wings in an elitest way and did as His commanded him, taking the two flits with him as they liked to annoy him.
She smiled and shook her head at her little family. They never ceased to amuse her or melt her heart. It was then she realized her legs were still over the shirtless young man's and she was quite indecent in the soaked through shift. At least it was thick material in the places that would have made it obscene... She winced slightly as she sat up and pulled her legs off of his, curling them beneath her giving herself time to adjust to her freshly bruised posterior, tugging the shift down to cover her knees and crossing her arms over her chest.
"I'm fine, only thing that's hurt is going to be my pride at this rate..." She smiled blushing a bit at the young man, at least he had a shirt on now.
"I guess you and I had the same Idea. Eulurth's obsessed with getting stronger but he's too young to take full human weight yet, so i came up with the water as a sort of compromise. Oh! Where are my manners?" keeping one arm firmly clasped around herself, she offered him the other. I dont think we've been introduced yet. I'm Jillalene, and you are?"

Thormyth rumbled as he felt Vl‘kan struggling to pull on their mental bonds in an attempt to keep the young garnet from lashing out and putting the younger blue in his rightful place; between his claws and the ground. Vl’kan must have won that battle of wills because the crimson dragonet soon ceased baring his fangs, although his quickly swirling gaze continued to follow the blues movements long after he had sulked away. Oh was Thor smug now. Rumbling lowly in what must have been a dark draconic chuckle, Thormyth took half a step back and settled down to lay in the soft grass, leaving one clawed foot to rest possessively on top of Vl’kan’s right boot.
Vl’kan listened as she explained her reasoning for being out this day and found himself nodding in response. He shouldn’t be surprised to have ran into another weyrling duo as the river was a busy spot for both riders and weyrlings alike. Just today he had seen half a dozen full grown dragons and weyrfolk visiting the cool waters. This was, however, the first instance where someone had come up to him, usually people tended to avoid the garnet and his rider. “Vl’kan,” he took her hand as it was offered and gently shook it before wiggling his right foot, causing a low growl to sound from the dozing dragonet. “And that’s Thormyth.” The former young Lord looked around on the ground around him, trying to remember if he brought a jacket or towel with him. A frown crossed his face moments later when he realized he must have forgot them on his bed. Well, he always had his shirt to offer if she wanted a little more coverage. He chewed this thought over for a moment before deciding to keep it to himself. After all there was no need to get that blue of hers to think he was up to no good. “I don’t really have any off time anymore thanks to this guy; he runs the both of us ragged everyday it seems. Just today we’ve been running, chasing, swimming, stretching, anything you can imagine… I’m ready to drop.” Vl’kan sighed with a groan at the protest of his sore muscles and let his head fall back to rest against the tree.

She smiled and shook her head. The garnet's seemed to like violence. But one day they'd realize Eulurth wouldnt go down as easily as the others. He was the largest blue of his clutch with a temper, a protectlive streak and he also, liked violence. Not nearly as much as the garnets, but if one was to go up against him, she could honestly say He would definitely hold his own. "It's nice to meet you Vl'kan. Nice to meet both of you. That blue of mine, is Eulurth. And he's quite overprotective. Just about the only way i can have a conversation with someone without him staring them to death is to tell him he can be training and getting stronger." She chuckled softly. He was getting better though. With the exception of Yufa he actually didn't mind her hanging out with most girls and women. It was just the Men he had a problem with.
"Luckily I have akiko and Rokai. Those two little flits distract him so I get a bit of time away from training mode and in 'mother' mode. " She rolled her eyes shifting so her knees were tucked against her chest, giving herself a bit more modesty. As she talked to him. "So you're from ista? Or did you just happen to be around when the Obsidian's clutch started to hatch? I've been kind of curious about you guys"

Vl’kan nodded lightly along with her words. He had heard that some blues could be somewhat touchy about their stature. Violent though? That was nearly unheard of, or so he thought anyway. A light, seeming unconscious, shrug rolled off his shoulder at these thoughts as his attention flicked to the dozing Garnet at his feet. Surely she must know about the blood thirsty and violent streaks that ran deep in the this new breed of kings? Or heard the rumors that his Thormyth was bent on world domination? As tough as her bonded believed himself to be, surely the younger male would know he stood little chance against the crimson Thor.
Indeed. Let him try Vl’kanMine. I would enjoy putting down another who holds such little faith in my abilities. Thormyth rumbled in pleasure at such an idea as his crimson streaked eyes slowly slid open. Lifting his head he let his lightly swirling gaze focus first on the girl for a brief moment before his head twisted and tilted to look on the distant form of Eulurth. Challenging? No, but an amusing encounter it would be nonetheless.
“Ista?” Vl’kan repeated slowly, as if unsure how to respond. Yes yes, you are a Lord. Tell her, Mine. “Y-yes,” he cleared his throat after shooting his bonded a quick look. “I’m from Ista, Ista Hold actually. My, ah…father, is the Lord Holder over there. I was only at the Weyr because I was waiting for a Trelis rider my aunt was sending to bring me down here. It was during the middle of the night when only a small handful of people were dragged from their beds to stand for the hidden clutch.” He ran a hand through his hair as his gaze wandered to his feisty companion. “It all happened so fast I’m not sure any of us really knew what to expect. I especially did not imagine coming home with this guy..” Thormyth flexed his wings and sat quietly while His told their little tale. Of course it was a grandeur meeting then His made it out to be. He wouldn’t have picked just anyone you see. For now though he let the story slide, knowing His still had some learning till he fulfilled his role as a god among men.

A small smile curved her cupid's bow mouth in an attractive, darker than normal smile with mischief in her eyes as the Crimson dragonet looked at her. She met the subking's stare without a flinch and almost as if she could feel the bloodlust and amusement of the garnet, she shrugged.
"I'll allow that you new subkings have proven yourself to be a violent and bloodthirsty lot, but my Eulurth doesnt fit with the stereotype's of the normal blues." oh yes, her Eulurth was intelligent and collected sometimes, but in his protective instincts, especially of her protection, his ferocity knew no boundaries. She tried to keep him out of harms way as much as possible, but she had little doubt He would prove more than challenging enough if it came to a fight with a garnet. "He'd prove more of a challenge than you might think, Thormyth-kingling. Not that I want there to be blood between you. But I'm just saying..."
“It all sounds very... mysterious. I would have loved to have been there. It might have made a good story.” She smiled turning her full attention back to the young lord. If he wanted to be treated differently because of his family, she was the wrong person to be talking to. She would treat him just like every other weyrling here. She didn’t even treat the gold and bronze weyrlings any differently.
“ I was a harper before…well, I’m sure you get the gyst. My masters gave me an assignment to watch the searchriders when they came. I never imagined they’d choose me. So I came to trelis and ive been here ever since. You were present when I impressed to Eulurth. That’s basically our story.”

“A harper, really?” Vl’kan glanced at the young blue weyrling and fixed her with a curious little look. He definitely wouldn’t have pegged her for the harper type. Then again she most likely wouldn’t have thought him to have been well versed in the harper life as well. So perhaps they did have something in common after all. The garnet weyrling sighed inwardly in a moment of relief before shifting against the tree he was leaning against till he found a comfortable spot once again.
“Then it looks as though we have something in common. My mother was Ista’s MasterHarper so I grew up having been trained in everything really. Singing and instruments were never my strong point though. I mostly stick with painting and writing now…” Thormyth tightened his claw around His’ ankle as he spoke till the man winced from the pressure and pain. How dare His think to have something in common with someone besides him! That wasn’t how things were meant to be. The young Thormyth grunted and resettled his wings, before turning his head to glance at the dragons gliding into the distant Weyr Bowl. Any thoughts he had on the matter at hand he was keeping to himself for now.
“Are you going to continue your training now that you’ve impressed your Eulurth and perhaps become a Dragon Harper?” Vl’kan spared a glance her way as he waited for her response while he gingerly massaged around the ankle that his young dragonet still had a hold of. The link they shared had gone eerily silent as the young Lord couldn’t hear the usual, global domination, running commentary Thor generally rambled on about. It’s like their ‘channel’ was put on mute and Vl’kan wasn’t sure he liked that too much. Who knew what the feisty young garnet was plotting and planning in silence?

Jillalene smiled as she heard Eulurth splashing back toward them, not noticing the curiosity of the young lord's stare. Her blue and green flit seemed to still be playing tag, and for a moment, she let a small sweet laugh escape her. She couldn't help but to love each little part of her new family.
The annoyance Eulurth felt was hitting Jillalene in waves, but so was his fatigue. Come my love. Come to me and rest for a while.
The large blue ,made his way out of the water, but before he made it to her, V'lkan was talking again, she turned her attention back to him and was pleasantly suprised. So he was harper trained as well? Well full of suprises this little Lordling was.
"Singing and playing were actually my strong points. I had a little talent with the painting, but unfortunately my storytelling wasn't nearly up to par. That was the only thing that kept the masters exasperated about me." Her smile was genuine. Though her father had shipped her off like an unwanted package, she'd found unity in Harper's Hall that she'd never had before. A family. Not like the one she had now of course, but...
Her thoughts were interrupted when eulurth began to drip on her. bending his neck over her he dropped something in her lap and she almost laughed again. Her dress and cloak.
You should dress mine. It is not appropriate for this one to see you like this. The gruff disapproval of her dragon was hard to ignore, and since most of her happened to agree with him, she stood without argument. He stretched his wing and stepped between her and v'lkan when she stepped away from him. While Eulurth preserved her modesty she pulled the soaked shift off, letting it fall to the ground and pulled on the mostly dry dress and cloak over it so she wasn't in anyway revealed to the young Lord.
"I honestly don't know. I mean, don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Dragon Harpers... and I still love to sing and play, but I would just be being selfish if that were the path i would choose. It's not a path Eulurth would fit easily, so," She smiled laying her hand against her blue's shoulder as she appeared from under his wing again. "We'll just play it by ear for now until the path becomes clearer."
She noticed V'lkan massaging his ankle where thormyth had hold. Did these garnets care so little for their riders they could hurt them and not be affected by it in the slightest?
"Uhm. Are you alright V'lkan?"

It was clear she had his full attention as she spoke about the Harper Hall, a smile even reaching his eyes as she mentioned where her own strengths and weakness lay. It was all interesting for him. His father had never allowed him the chance to wander off and try his hand within the Harper Hall so hearing about this firsthand experience from another was quite the treat. Instantly he wanted to know more but quickly closed his mouth as her young dragonet appeared and seemed to urge her to change out of her wet clothes. Vl’kan immediately averted his eyes even as she stood behind the blue’s wing and quickly changed.
Clearing his throat a bit sheepishly, the Istan occupied himself with scratching the eyeridges of his crimson companion, which drew a low rumble of approval from Thormyth, and only when he was certain she was modest once again did he turn his green eyes her way. He listened to her take on his comment about ‘Dragon Harpers’ and looked between her and Eulurth, nodding lightly in agreement to her reasoning. He did seem to be a feisty little blue after all. “Of course, it’s nothing to rush headlong into. Just something to think about I suppose…” A light shrug rolled off his shoulders as he leaned over to idly massage his ankle once more.
“What? Oh..yeah. Yes, yes..I’m fine.” He smiled lightly in hopes of reassuring her before he let his back rest against the tree again. The idea crossed him that he could have told her what he had learned in his own lessons about the garnet dragons and their tendency to harm their riders, especially at a young age, but after a sideways glance to Thormyth he decided against it. He didn’t really want to unintentionally give someone else a reason to dislike his young companion. So he kept the reasoning to himself and by now Thormyth had removed his claw from his ankle, with minimal damage to the pant leg, and was looking about ready for his afternoon nap. “I hope you don’t think me intrusive but do you have any stories from your time in the Harper Hall? Or is it super top secret training that your Masters swore you to secrecy?”

Eulurth gave a snort and settled on the ground, stretching his wings out to dry and warm in the sun.
Lene looked at him reproachfully and settled with him. "Super secret training?" She smiled shaking her head. Not at all. It was just lessons. The masters maintained the classes much like Lessons here, only our lessons were every day at a set time each day. "
Her smile grew warmer as she remembered the way her life had been then. " Lessons in song, writing, poetry, drawing and painting... storytelling and music playing. Each night was like a festival night. Good food and a different student offering entertainment after the meals. The Harpers were the first family I ever knew. "
Eulurth growled and dropped his chin onto her head a little rougher than she thought was necessary.
"I know I know... You're my family now. " (sorry its so short. my muse is being picky)
