Is it true what they say? Are we too blind to find a way? Fear of the unknown Clouds our hearts today.
It was midday. Daedra should have been eating, but instead, she was lying down right now, avoiding people. Mrith had been irritable and it was affecting her own mood. She needed some time away, to herself. She knew what was coming. And it was coming soon. she didn't even really know why she had bothered going to training in the first place. Not like she had really gotten much out of it with the way things were. She rolled over and looked at where Mrith lay on her couch, her eyes fixated on a far away point. And then she rose.
Mrith... Where are you going? The dragoness looked back at her, but did not respond, spreading her wings and taking off in one furious motion. She was headed straight for the feeding pens and, wit ha roar that, to her was entirely satisfying as it sent the beasts scattering, picked out one. A small one, grabbing it in her claws. She tore at it, but she didn't even swallow it before the realization of an entirely different desire made her lift her head, dropping what she held, spreading her wings and roaring at the top of her voice.
She shook her head wildly from one side to another as she looked at each male nearby. It was time. They would chase. They would. Come! Take my challenge! Chase! All of you! Cowards! With that, she leaped skyward, her pastel green wings carrying her bright green body with its brindle markings and pastel belly upward into the sky, her whirling red-purple eyes focused forward on the clouds that were in her view.
Daedra was standing, waiting. She was already heading up into the clouds with Mrith, feeling the air beneath her wings, the wind that moved around her body. The way that she growled definace to the world. She could feel it. She was a form with shadowed, dark eyes, standing, waiting, and irritated.
Come into my world, See through my eyes. Try to understand, Don't want to lose what we have.

K'lin sighed as he walked towards his weyr. Bearith had offered to fly him to the room, but he had wanted time to think. He remembered the time he had spent with Daedra in the baths, and also the time he had spent with Ara during weyrling training, and then there was the time at the gather. He shook his head. He didn't want to remember the gather. He had been so drunk, and had offered to spend time with a weyrling, a male weyrling at that! K'lin Mine, Mrith rises! Bearith's voice was already much deeper than normal, and K'lin could feel the start of his dragon's lust. Faranth! Forgot about going to his weyr, turned around, and ran straight to Daedra's weyr. He had never been there before, but he had seen Mrith sitting on the ledge, and he thought he remembered where that was. He skidded to a stop in front of the door way, and peered in quietly. He cautiously walked into the room, and noticed he was the first to arrive. Fly my Queen! Your Bearith is here! He roared his acceptance of Mrith's challenge. He beat his blue wings hard and fast as he chased after the green female. He crooned, and trilled to her, creating a song that was full of mystery, and wild adventure. The melody of his voice combined with the melody of the beating of his wings. It was all for Mrith, and only for Mrith. He would fly to the end of Pern for her, and even then he would not stop.

We've been dreaming But who can deny? It's the best way of living Between the truth and the lies.
Mrith looked back to see who was following her and saw only a few males. Hmph. So they were all who would attempt to chase her! No one else was brave enough! She hissed irritably! Come now! Who is a king and who is a liar! Show me your wings! Spread them wide and chase! She spiraled upward swiftly, leveling up, heading straight through a low lying cloud, causing rivulets of water to stick to her bright green hide and cascade back towards those who followed her. It was as if the world was moving in slow motion. Her breaths came beautifully, swiftly, rythmically. Her wing beats ruled the air. It was her time! Her time to shine!
She was a shooting star during the day, an oddity and rarity. She turned her bright green head back again and sized them up for a moment.... Then turned forward again, changing her direction and spiraling downward. She would find out who were the liars! She would find out who were truthful! She would find out... Yes. It was just a matter of time.
She heard the blue... A lovely song. She joined it. Hmm... Maybe him. But she wouldn't choose. Not yet.
See who I am, Break through the surface. Reach for my hand, Let's show them that we can Free our minds and find a way. The world is in our hands, This is not the end.

S'bel had been out of the loop for awhile now. He hadn't been very active in his duties, which was odd for the duty-bound bronze rider. Sitting in his Weyr, he thought maybe he was sick. He had never felt so listless and odd before, not even when he had first Impressed to Maerath. Grunting, he ran his hands through his hair. Usually short, the blond locks were now shaggy. It seems he had fallen into a depression.
Maerath raised his head. Outside, a green called, not one he knew. He didn't even know her name, but he heard her challenge. A green rises, Mine. His voice was sober, and mellow. His rider's moods effected his own, and though he felt drawn to the green, he was unwilling to leave his rider's side. S'bel turned his head to the great bronze and shrugged. "Chase, then," he answered, hauling himself to his feet. It had been a long time since Maerath had chased, and since he had lain with anyone. Before, that the dragon was a green would have bothered both dragon and rider. Maerath was a bronze-- he was supposed to chase Queens, not greens. Now, S'bel cared nothing for duty. He had missed out on a woman he presumed to love, and the Queen rider. Nothing mattered any more, and so when his great bronze partner threw himself into the air, screaming his acceptance, S'bel let his emotions guide him to the Weyr of the rider. No one he recognized, but he himself was recognizable. Most everyone knew the bronze riders. As he entered the Weyr, and this thought entered his head, he stood a bit straighter, his ice blue eyes hardening. Go, he urged his dragon silently. Win. And then he gave himself over to his dragon's lust. Maerath shrieked again, voice joining the blue's in the air. He did not bother with words. The green would know, and she would choose him, for he was the best.

Bearith continued to sing to Mrith, but he did as he was told. He spread his wings, and chased her. He mimicked her movements, and spiralled up after her. He followed her through the cloud, and bugled happily. His blue hide was glistening with the water from the cloud. Fly my sweet Queen. Your Bearith will follow you until his wings fall of. Even then, I will continue to chase you my Queen! He spoke in the same melody as the rest of his song.
Bearith followed Mrith as she spiraled downward. He tucked his wings, and spiraled after her. He would prove to her he wasn't lying. He would prove to her that he would follow her to the end. He sang to her the entire time. He growled low in his throat when he saw the bronze. He recognized that bronze. He normally never chased greens. He had his work cut out for him now. He needed to do everything he could to show Mrith that he should be her King. He needed to show her that not all bronzes were better than blues.

Fear is withering the soul At the point of no return. We must be the change we wish to see.
A Bronze had joined her flight. Hmm.... She supposed that this one thought it would be an honor to her that he had deemed to chase her. Hrmph. She was not a green who would think anymore of a bronze than of a blue. Hew would still have to prove himself to her. They both would. But it was almost sad to her that these two were the only ones who were chasing her. She felt mild offense.
Daedra looked at them - K'lin and S'bel. She recognized S'bel. It was hard not to. Though, people had seen very little of him for a while. She looked at K'lin. He was a man she had spent time with and knew relatively well. She knew what she watned, but... Mrith. What did Mrith want?
Mrith hissed at them both. They needed to try harder! My King is not by color of hide! Try harder you insolent wretches! She hissed, her anger boiling over with each wing beat. They had to make this a challenge or it was worth nothing! Maybe this time she really would fall to the ground without a winner! Maybe this would be it! Because so far, neither of them had any right to catch her! She beat her wings harder, skimming low over the tops of nearby trees, almost too low, her wings brushing the tops as she flew.
She didn't sing. She didn't make a sound. She had other things on her mind, in part, watching them and seeing who would be the best. She wanted proof. She wanted them to try harder! She was no gold, that was true. She would not fly as long or as hard. that was true. But she wanted a worthy winner!
Daedra smiled seductively at one man and then the other, walking just a little closer, teasing, staying just out of reach and, if they tried to move closer, moving further away, though careful of the ledge that was behind her, leading out to the open skies.
I'll come into your world, See through your eyes. I'll try to understand, Before we lose what we have.

Bearith crooned softly when Mrith hissed not only at him, but the bronze as well. At least he wasn't the only one in trouble. He beat his wings as hard, and as fast as he could. His tail beat the air, and his sharp claws ripped at the tree tops. He now had more than a couple leaves stuck to his claws. He growled at it, but there was nothing he could do it about it just yet. He needed to continue chasing, so he ignored the strange feeling he had in his claws.
Fly my Queen, tell your Bearith what he must do to prove himself to you! He called out to her. He beat his wings as hard as he could, and eventually flew beside her. He did everything he could think of to impress her. He did every trick he knew, and even attempted some strange, new combinations of aerial maneuvering. There was no way he was going to loose this flight without at least trying everything he could to impress her.
K'lin could feel his dragon pushing himself farther than he had during any other flight. Bearith really did want to win this, and he himself wanted his dragon to win. Not so that he could brag about it, but because he knew Daedra, and because he actually liked the green rider. He watched as the woman moved teasingly close, but was still out of reach. He made no move to bring her closer. He stayed where he was. If she wanted him oer not was her own choice. He would be there, willing and waiting for her if she should choose him.

We just can't stop believing Because we have to try. We can rise above their truth and their lies.
Her pastel wings beat the sky harder, almost as if trying to beat it into submission, but her energy was frustrated, lagging. She was putting more effort into each wingbeat than she had energy to spare. She hissed and roared in defiance, diving down one last time towards rocks below her, pulling up nearly to late, her right front leg catching the rock and a gash tearing down her forearm and over her foot. She hissed. It hurt! It was leaking green ichor into the wind. She shook her head, flying out again. This would not end this way, quickly, recklessly, she spun upwards into the clouds above again, all the while, her green skin leaking the green blood to fall in droplets like rain back towards those who followed her.
See who I am, Break through the surface. Reach for my hand, Let's show them that we can Free our minds and find a way. The world is in our hands.
She looked back. Who would be the lucky king, the one to hold the world with her today? She crooned softly at first one and then the other. It was not as if she had chosen yet, but she was slowing and had been for some time, her sharding wound adding to her loss of strength.
This is not the end.
I hear their silence Preaching my blame. Will our strength remain If their power reigns?
If anyone was to blame for any of the pain, it was her and her determination not to be caught. She crooned softly. Who would save her from this? She sang softly, almost sadly. There was a choice though, looming. One she did not wish to make, and yet, here she was, barely avoiding the male's attempts at catching her. Her elation was ending, her muscles growing stiff...
BearithKingMine... Come... Please come... With that, her wings were still and she began to drop down towards the oceans and the rocks that lay beneath her. Save Me! Bearith! she shrieked, fear catching up with her as she saw it coming, her rider was nearly crying now, but she moved swiftly toward K'lin. How embarrassing... to cry... but her dragon's fear. It ws her fear too. Her agony. Her loss. The end of something magnificent... but the beginning of something just as good.
See who I am, Break through the surface. Reach for my hand, And show them that we can Free our minds and find a way. The world is in our hands.
This is not the end. ~Within Temptation

Bearith could feel his energy and strength start to leave him. This had been a very taxing flight. He was no longer trying to show off, instead he focussed his energy on just keeping up with Mrith. He needed to keep up with the green dragoness. He couldn't just let this late coming bronze beat him because he didn't keep up. No, he would do everything in his power to show Mrith that he was the better dragon. He crooned to her, showing her that he was still there for her.
Bearith faltered, only slightly, when she roared, and then dived. He quickly followed her down. Only, he pulled up well before he hit the rocks. He sang to his green queen, and he crooned to her. Oh my green Queen, let your Bearith soothe your pain. His voice was gentle and sweet as he spoke to Mrith. She hadn't pulled up in time, and was now bleeding green ichor. A few drops landed on his blue wings as he followed her up, into the sky once again.
Bearith crooned sadly when he heard Mrith's sad song. Why wouldn't she just let one of them catch her? It would help ease her pain, and would let her rest, and regain her strength. My dear, green Queen, please, your Bearith is here to help. His words were sad and soft. More of the green's blood was dripping onto his body, some of it even landed on his snout. He could smell the ichor quite clearly, even though none of it had landed near his nostrils.
Bearith bugled loudly when he heard the words, asking him to come. He used everything he could to dive after her. He reached out, and did his best to entwine his blue claw's with her green ones. He snapped his wings open, trying to slow their decent, all at the same time trying to wrap himself around his mate. I am here my Queen. Your Bearith is here. His words were like a soft, sweet lullaby. Gentle and soothing as he spoke to her.
K'lin wrapped his arms around Daedra, and tried to pull her closer to him. I am here my Queen. Your K'lin is here. Just like his dragon, he was trying to soothe the crying woman. Neither of them would let anything else happen to their mates. He could feel it, he could tell that his dragon was trying to make it so that if they crashed, his body would be the one to hit the rocks below, not Mrith's. He himself was turning so that he could try to protect Daedra from the world around them.

This is not the end.
Mrith crooned softly, and, with effort, spread her wings open in order to help slow their descent. My King... He was... trying to protect her. It was not easy as they fell, but she twined herself around him. As they fell, wings spread, they glided away from the rocks below and out towards the ocean. Her relief was tangible. Bearith... MateMine. ProtectorMine. She crooned softly. She was safe... He had saved her.
She felt her heart race, but more than anything, felt the overwhelming feelings of love... and relief. Intertwined with her mate, she was safe.
Daedra pressed her face into K'lin's shoulder. The fear dissipated and she felt herself on the ground, a need to be as close to K'lin as she could growing in her. "K'lin..." her voice was just barely above a whisper as she leaned into him, her arms stretching up around his neck as she kissed him. It had been a trying flight. A nearly deadly one. Mrith was injured... If she was thinking clearly, she would have been hoping that she had not broken her leg... That it was just a deep laceration.
But those thoughts would come again soon. She knew it. Right now... she felt safe with K'lin.
See who I am, Break through the surface. Reach for my hand, Let's show them that we can Free our minds and find a way. The world is in our hands, This is not the end.
Not our end. [/blockquote]
