Akira
Pronunciation:
ah-kee-ra
Age:
17 Turns
Season Born In:
Fall
Gender:
Female
Sexuality:
Bisexual (Male Preference)
Family:
All Deceased
Appearance:
Akira has short, dark brown hair that she usually keeps held back with berets. Akira's berets are a dark blue in color, and Akira is almost never seen without them. She is 5'7" and weights 136 pounds. Akira has light tan skin, which is actually her natural color. She might not look it, but Akira has muscles, and can hold her own. Akira has strong, long legs that can propel her pretty far, pretty fast if she ever tried. She has light brown eyes that seem to have a twinkle to them. Like they're trying to open up, and show what she's really like inside.
She is usually found wearing a black, long sleeve shirt, but she will occasionally wear a black sleeveless shirt. No matter what the occasion, she always wears pants. To most they wouldn't be the most comfortable to wear all the time, but Akira likes them, even in the summer she likes to wear pants. From what she can remember, she has never, and will never, wear a dress for any reason unless she is forced to. Akira walks with a kind of hidden confidence in her stride. Like she knows she's strong, but is afraid to show it. Her arms are normally kept close to her sides as she walks, or she will have them folded in front of her chest.
Personality:
Akira is pretty strange. She doesn't like to talk much, and has a tendency to ignore people she doesn't respect. Yet once you get to know her, the hard, outer shell falls away, and she will be one of the best friends you've ever had. She is really persistent, and has a hard time not fighting for what she believes. She can be affectionate, but tries not to show it publicly. She tries not to take too many risks, but if she believes they are necessary ones, she will do whatever it is she can. Akira is a very stubborn person, and doesn't like other's trying to change who she is. She is intelligent, but doesn't like to brag about what she knows. She has a hard time opening up to people, but she could often be found alone somewhere talking to any non-human creature.
Akira has never found it easy to make friends, because she's never really known what to say. When it comes to other humans, she doesn't really talk, but get her alone with a dragon or a firelizard for instance, and she'll tell a story an hour long. She's always been that way, at least, for as long as she can remember. Though, once a person does get to know her, she'll be very loyal, and be a great companion. She's a great listener, and loves to hear elders tell stories of years past. Though, that's something she wouldn't admit even to a firelizard. Even though she has problems socializing, Akira is really a sweet, and loving individual. She just needs someone she can trust to bring the fun-loving, energetic side of her out to the open.
Akira has one secret that she would die trying to keep, and would deny vehemently if anyone found out. Akira loves to sing, but refuses to let anyone but firelizards, dragons, huntyres, and whers hear her. Singing makes her feel happy whenever she is sad, and it helps her feel a little less like an outcast. Ever since she was a child Akira has loved to sing, and has spent many hours alone, hidden somewhere just singing to herself about anything and everything. She will sometimes sing herself to sleep on nights that she has trouble falling asleep.
History:
Akira's parents were Harper's, and they lived in Apolla. She remembered that her parents would often leave to entertain the riders at Trelis Weyr. Her mother had quit when Akira was born so that she could stay home, and take care of her. Yet, even way back then, she hated social events, which meant she stayed home most of the time, but the times she did go, she went to see the dragons. She had often dreamed of impressing a hatchling dragon. She remembered hearing her parents talk about the stories they knew. She loved the ones they would tell her about the dragon riders of turns past. She remembered lying in bed, dreaming about being a dragon rider, and fighting thread whenever it fell.
As Akira grew older, her love of dragons grew stronger. She would sit outside, and watched as the queen dragon would fly, and the other's would follow her lead, and they would play around in the sky. She always thought it was a beautiful site to witness, but when the dragons flew too high for her to see she would start imagining what it would be like to be a dragon flying so high up in the sky. She remembered how her parents would always wish she would become a Harper, but they knew that no matter what they did, she would find a way to become a rider because she couldn't stand singing in front of others because of her stage fright. So they started taking her to the Weyr to see how they did things. Those were some of the best years of her life. One day her parents had brought home a few firelizard eggs that they had bought from someone in Trelis. Apparently the eggs had been close to hatching because the day after her parents had brought them home, they hatched. The first one that hatched was a little blue flit, and since Akira and her mother had already been in the kitchen making supper Akira got to feed the little flit, and impress it. Her mother had impressed the little green that hatched next, and her dad got the little brown.
Things started going wrong after Akira turned fifteen. Her father, and mother for the first time in a long time, was on their way to another party when things went horribly wrong. Her parents had arrived at the party when a runnerbeast had gotten spooked, and broke free from it's owner. Akira's parents were actually right in the way of the scared beast, and was run over, and killed. Akira didn't find out about it till a messenger came to her home, and told her what had happened a week earlier, no one she asked could tell her what had happened to her father's firelizard. The person that had came to tell her what had happened was a blue dragon rider, who brought her back to Trelis Weyr.
Akira didn't have to wait too long for her first hatching experiance. She watched as one after the other all the eggs hatched, and found Their's. Which left her as a candidate once again. She wasn't too happy about that, but did as she was told, even though she talked less, and practically ignored the knew candiate master during their lessons. After what seemed like forever another gold dragon rose, which meant there was another clutch on the way. That gave her something to look forward too, which made her work even harder, trying to give herself more of a chance to impress at the next hatching. More time passed and it was finally time for another hatching.
Akira hadn't slept much the night before, so she was just lying on her bed, waiting for something to happen. Then, like a sign from Faranth, the candidates were told that the eggs were hatchings. She couldn't resist smiling as she jumped out of bed, and pulled out her robes and sandals. Blue crooned sleepily, but when he saw His pulling out her white robes and her sandals, he growled, and went back to sleep. You really are lazy Blue. She giggled as she spoke to her firelizard.
Akira quickly pulled on her robes, and ran, all out, for the hatching sands. She was literally gasping for breath by the time she got there. Hi...Maelath...Sorry...out...of breath. She bowed to the golden queen, and hoped that her apology would suffice for now, at least until she caught her breath. She slowly walked over to her place where the female candidates normally stood. She was standing in just about the same place she had stood during Loraketh's hatching.
Akira smiled hopefully when she saw that one of the smaller eggs had already cracked, and had a small forked tail sticking out of it. Please Faranth, don't leave me standing again. She closed her eyes, and turned her face upward as she sent the silent prayer to the skies. She didn't want to be left as a candidate again, she wanted to find her life partner in this clutch. She looked back at the eggs, silently praying that one of them would hold a dragon for her.
Kitsuneko posted:
Maeleth was still somewhat restless, but as the candidates bowed and paid their respects to her and her clutch, she began to settle down a bit, even raising her head to expose the gold egg between her front claws. Iskra gave the candidates a smile when they came onto the sands. They did seem to have a fine selection of candidates this time around. Hopefully the hatchlings would feel the same way.
As she watched, the first of the eggs began to hatch. The Fallen Leaves Egg already had a rather sizable hole at the bottom, where the dragonet's tail poked out of the shell, and the egg seemed to be hatching in reverse. The hole grew bigger as the dragonet inside kicked at the shell, until the powerful hindquarters and legs of a green dragon were obvious.
Even as she tried to break free, another egg was cracking open faster. Soon, a bright blue head was poking out of the Piercing Thorns Egg, soon followed by the rest of the dragon. He climbed out of his shell and flexed his wings, throwing sand everywhere around him, though he was too far away from the candidates still for them to be affected. He was middling in size, for a blue, but his hide was striking, marked with pale blue speckling all over his body, with a deep navy blue on his neck and belly as well as his muzzle and tail.
The blue ignored the candidates at first, seeming more interested in his pretty sister trying to back out of the remains of her own egg. At last she succeeded in freeing the rest of her body, revealing a deep green hatchling, who might have been mistaken for black in the right light, if it weren't for the light green marks on her belly. The green's slender limbs belied the strength evident in her powerful shoulders and hindquarters. The blue chirped at his sister in a friendly manner once she had freed herself, and she returned it with a curious croon of her own.
Once the two siblings had finished their hellos, they both turned their attention towards the candidates. The green began to walk towards the females, and rather than inspect the male candidates, the blue seemed more interested in following his sister. The green looked at each of the girls, and then the blue. They passed Iirla, Jillalene, and Yufa without comment, until they came to Akira. The green soon moved on to the rest of the candidates, but the blue stopped, stared at the girl for a moment, and then crooned happily.
Hello, there! I thought my sister would find Hers before I found Mine, but I guess not. I'm terribly hungry, though, AkiraMine. Will it be very long before you get your Oridith something to eat? The dragon asked, clearly torn between making sure his green sister found her rider safely and going to get food now that he had found his.

Appearance:
Blue's hide is a pretty typical blue in color that slowly fades to a dark blue the closer to his underside you get. He has very bright blue rings around his eyes, and the base of his wings. His tail has little polka-dots of the same bright blue that ring Blue's eyes. All four of Blue's paws are the same dark blue as his underside. All and all Blue looks like a pretty typical blue firelizard. He has a whip-like tail that is usually wrapped around Akira's neck. His little blue wings are always kept close to his body, but can be opened at a moments notice.
Personality:
Blue loves to have a good time, but that often gets him in trouble. He usually has a pretty good attitude, but he can be extremely evil when he's upset, or feels like he has been wronged. It isn't hard to make this little flit happy, and it's just as easy to upset him as well. He loves to just hold on to Akira's neck, and sleep on her shoulder as she does her chores, or whatever it is that she is doing at that moment. I wouldn't describe him as completely lazy, but he has a hard time waking up in the morning.
Blue has a mischievous streak. There are times when he will fly off, leaving Akira on her own, and return hours later with something that he has stolen from someone, and it is usually something shiny. That's why Akira tries to keep the little blue flit on a leash, but after a couple of tries he usually figures out how to wiggle himself free, and is off on another one of his raids, which causes no end of trouble for Akira. Blue is just trying to show Akira how much he loves her with these stolen gifts, and no matter how much he is scolded for being a thief, he still continues to do it.

Average build, long legs. Middling blue hide with icy blue speckles over his whole body. Neck and belly are deep blue and muzzle and tail end in deep blue as well.
Personality
Likes meeting new people, focused, diligent, dedicated, obedient, flirty, a gentleman, doesn't like arguments.
Mind-Voice:
Hello there! I'm Oridith, this is AkiraMine!
Oridith's voice is surprisingly deep for a dragon of his size, and is usually sweet and gentle, but when he upset it takes on a very dark quality, and becomes very harsh. That isn't very often though, and some people would actually be very happy about that. He almost never raises his voice, even if he is upset. The only time he will ever raise his deep voice, is when he is EXTREMELY upset, and that isn't very often.
