Appearance Petal has dark brown hair which flows to the middle of her back in waves. Her klah colored eyes, almond in shape and tilting upwards at their corners, are framed by thick lashes. Her face is somewhat heart-shapped with a hint of roundness to it. Petal's nose is just short of medium sized. It it button shaped. Petal's chin seems to poke out in a stubborn, charming kind of way.
This young woman stands at a mere 5'3 and is slightly skinny, but not skinny to the point to where she is considered weak. She does have a little meat on her. Petal's frame is mostly feminine with a slight hint of masculinity in it. The masculinity part of her frame resides in her legs and arms where they are stong to help carry some heavy items or run and jump.
Personality Petal is very smart and outgoing. She loves to be in the company of others and she has always enjoyed watching Dragons come to her home for their Searches. Each Turn Petal is saddened that she has not been Searched, but she does not give up hope. This girl has always found Dragons interesting and wants to learn more about them. She is quick in her duties and she is very interested in learning new things. Petal does not like to sit around being bored so she tries to find something to do. She also loves the shipfish that live near her home. Petal also loves to swim with them. Because of her love for any living creature, Petal is not one to stand by and watch an animal being tortured. She would not mind if they were killed quickly for food, but she does not like to see any kind of creature whether its a Dragon, human, or animal being hurt. Petal is very smart and knows when to back off from a conversation. She is also very polite. Petal doesn't do anything really without saying please, thank you, and your welcome.
Because of her manners, Petal is a person people look for in a friend. She loves to help others and tries to watch the Riders wash and feed their Dragons. Besides the ride from Sollace Hold to Trelis Weyr, Petal has never been on a Dragon and wishes with all her heart that a Dragon would ask its Ride to let Petal ride with them. Petal enjoys spending time outside except when it's really hot or really cold. The 14 Turn old girl enjoys flirting with the boys and men at the Weyr, but not one of them has held an interest to her. She learns quickly and enjoys learning new things, but most of all she cannot wait to learn more about Dragons and what a Rider can do with their Dragon.
This girl can be somewhat sassy at times, but she is most definately a quick learner. She has learned what moods are best for which situation. When someone, male or female, is being rude to her then she is rude right back. If someone flirts with her then she returns the favor. Petal considers herself straight, but she has glanced at a woman once or twice. She knows it's natural to look at people of both genders in an arousing way.
Petal does get angry sometimes when things seem too complicated or hard. She hates trying to do chores and any kind of work, but she knows she must or else she cannot have any fun. Petal does not to leave anything undone and so she quickly gets it finished so she can leave the work day behind her.

History During early winter Petal was born to F'tan and Cistel. Petal spent a healthy childhood doing what she loved the most, spending time with her family. As she grew up she watched Riders come and go for Tithings and Searches. At first Petal was not interested because she was focused on becoming a Harper, but as the Turns passed she became more and more intrigued in the Searches.
She never strayed from her studies to see if she became a Healer, but she could not help, but wonder what it was like to ride a Dragon. Petal became a little more obsessed with the Dragons then with her studies and wondered if being a Haper was all that it was cracked up to be. So for awhile she stopped studying and devoted herself to watching for Dragons. Many Searchs happened in her home, but none came for her. Petal was beginnng to lose all hope of finding out what it was like to fly when one day a Tithing party came and one of the Riders came up to her. It seems that the Rider's Dragon sensed the strength inside her and alerted his Rider.
Petal was 14 Turns by this time and gulped when the Rider had announced this to her. She gathered her things and left with the Tithing party. Petal was a little nervous about the whole thing and did not know what would happen and she was totally unprepared when the group went Between. Petal nearly lost her things in the cold, black void. Finally Petal could breath again and she could see sunlight. She and the Riders had returned to Trelis Weyr where the group set down and everyone began putting the supplies in their proper places.
Petal got off the Dragon and helped with the supplies. The Dragon that had carried her snuffed at her and the Rider translated that the Dragon was impressed that she began helping despite the fact that she knew where nothing went to. Petal blushed at the compliment and followed the directions of the adults around her for where certain things needed to go. Before the sun was too high in the sky the Tithing was over. Petal then began her new life as Candidate. She attended classes for the Candidates and took in all the knowledge, but so far she has yet to Impress a Dragon. Petal does not expect to ever be a Rider even though she is a Candidate.
