Okay, so Aki brought up a question today in the cbox. Can there be dolphin craftsmen here? I thought about it, and though Trelis doesn't have an official hall/hold for them, I thought why not add a new place in. With people that like the new colors flocking into the Island soon, they'd need a new hold. So, I thought why not hold a contest?
The Lovely Prize Is: You get to help plan a plot involving the new Hold. It will be placed after the current Plot we're in is done. So sometime in September is when that'll start.
The Form:
Username: Hold Name: Hold Colors/flag: *Sollace is Green and Orange, Apolla is Maroon and Ivory* History: *How it got started. All that is definite is that a dolphin craftsman who comes here petitions for it to start. The rest is yours for the making. Did it have any scandals for instance? Be creative, but it doesn't have to be long* Description: *A short description of the place. See the other Holds for an example.*
By the way, this hold will be located on a small island *you can name it even* offshore from The Island that Trelis and the current holds are on.

Hold Name: Seidon Hold
Hold Colours: Silver/Grey-green and Sea Blue
Hold Flag: A silver-green dolphin on a sea blue background. The outlines of the Trident Rocks can be seen behind the dolphin
History: Seidon Hold, and even the island it sits on, have a rather unorthadox settlement history. A ship containing a handful of sailors and fishers, and a dolphincrafter by the name of Jerido had set sail from the northern continent in the hopes of finding a new home in the clear, crystal waters surrounding Trelis Weyr, and in Jerido's case, founding a DolphinCraftHall. However, their dreams were almost dashed alongside the ship when a freak storm blew up, sending the small ship barrelling into a rocky outcrop on the nearby island (later named Tride after the trident shape rock that had nearly killed them). The captain of the ship managed to steer the half-destroyed ship into what he hoped was a sheltered cave in the nearby cliff wall, and the surviving crew were surprised to discover that the cave was not only a perfect place to shelter the ship for repairs, but it also had various tunnels leading in a slowly upward direction.
Stranded with no way to communicate for help until the storm passed, the crew decided to explore the tunnel, hoping they would find real shelter from the storm farther in. Inside the mountainous island, they were surprised to find the center of the cliffs was almost entirely hollowed, though there was little shelter from the rain. They found shelter inside the various caves along the inside of the cliff walls, though some of the caves were inhabited by a local breed of wherry. They dined that night on wherry meat, eggs, and a few fish brought up by Jerido's dolphin Sei.
Within a few days they were able to do a quick patchup job on the ship, and before long they had made it to Sollace Hold. However, Jerido couldn't find a place in Sollace's territory that matched his dream home for his Hall. His mind kept wandering back to the island, so shortly he gathers a new ship and crew, and returned to Tride Island to stake a claim on it. Once the area had been sufficiently explored, it was agreed that a sea-based Hold would definately be able to take care of themselves and permission was given to begin building. The Hold, named Seidon after Jerido's dolphin, began construction shortly thereafter.
Building the Hold will be relatively easy, as many tunnels and caves already exist naturally in the cliff walls. A real Hold is planned to be built in the center of the island and will connect to the main access tunnels. Jerido has gotten his wish as well, as a building is planned in which the theory side of dolphineering can be taught.
Once construction is complete, the Seidon Holders will be relatively self-sufficient. The land inside the cliff walls, while not the best for farming, does contain enough nutrients to grow tubers and grain, and the local wherries have already proven easy enough to catch and eventually raise for meat and eggs. Their main income, however, is their profits from the sea. Fish, crawlers, and a variety of under water plants can be brought in almost daily by the fisherfolk and dolphineers and turned into a variety of materials for selling (such as oil from fish, perfect for tanners and dragons alike). What they cannot harvest themselves, they trade for.
Jerido, as founder of Seidon, is the current Lord Holder of Seidon.
Description: Nestled within the rocky walls of the nearby Tride Island, Seidon hold is a somewhat secluded Hold. It generally houses fisherfamilies, sailors and dolphin crafters, and in fact holds the main DolphincraftHall for the area. The natural cave and tunnel systems in the surrounding cliffs allow the holders a safe haven from the weather, as well as easy access to their beloved ocean.
Other: The crafts you can find abundantly in Seidon are the DolphinCraft and FisherCraft. Wherry breeders and woodcrafters specializing in ships would also be found here.

Username: Zara Hold Name: Luennora Hold Hold Colors/flag: Navy Blue and Silver History: Luennora Hold takes its roots as a much sought refuge for some of Pern's likely most unwanted at one point. The island was a lucky find for the small band that first settled there, starting first more of a loose group of people living amongst the cave and rock... But soon, as more people came, Traders, Fishers, and more like themselves, something more started to take shape.
However, it was a dolphineer who was on a ship from Southern, heading for Trelis Weyr when a storm hit, washing them ashore the island that Luennora Hold truly began.
The first dolphineer, Lennor and the shipfish, or dolphin that he worked with, Oran, found that between the island and Trelis, there were plenty of unbound shipfish roaming the sea between what became known as Oran Island, for the dolphin which he road and his handler. It was the Dolphin Hall that was set up there, however, that would truly be the beginning of the Hold there. It wasn't intended, but soon, people were settling there. Trade happened there, a Fishercraft Hall was soon flourishing and the people who lived there seamed to be a much different kind that those who had first settled there, looking for a new start or trying to escape.
The Hold itself would not be hard to build, the cliffs set back from the beaches are riddled with tunnels and the rocky landscape provides plenty of material and shelter. The mountain at its core, though much smaller than Trelis', makes up the bulk of the islands center. Wherries, though the number of wild whers is lacking. Firelizards are also plentiful and it is not uncommon for people here to have one or two.
Description: This hold is rather undeveloped at this time, but the area in which it is planned to be built into is protected by a half circle of cliff that leads right up to the beach. However, it is a set of cliffs and valleys, caves, and tunnels set further back the Hold would likely built into, thee having been used for some time further back from the beach. Trees are not scarce here, though much of the terrain is rather rocky. This hold would be well defended with a myriad of defenses.
Fishercraft, Dolphoncraft, Firelizard trainers, Wherry Breeders, and Woodcrafters, and even Smithcraft could potentially flourish in an enviroment like this.
