Rin moved through the corridors as he headed for the candidate barracks. It had surprised him when he was asked to help with the candidate lessons on whers, but he was perfectly willing to help out his Alpha Handler and Weyrwoman. Mavrisk wobbled beside him, the almost black hued blue both excited and scared about today. Candidates good? "Yeah, don't worry. The candidates will behave themselves." Or at least he hoped. The wher was shy on the best of days, he didn't want to think of what would happen on the worst. He didn't know if Ridan would show with Risk or not, but he hoped so. At least then he wouldn't be winging it.
Lobask come? The blue looked up at His with curious eyes. Or Kevinsk? True there was always the green and bronze handlers as well. Call them all and see what happens buddy. Mavrisk do! Mavrin tell! Jumping up, the blue raced around the area where the lesson would be held. Lobask, Kevinsk come help? Risk come too if no bother? Mavrisk'sMavrin asked. The wher sent out his message to the whers to see who would return the call. Rin honestly wasn't expecting anyone, but it didn't hurt to ask right?
"Okay, now call for the candidates." Mavrisk do, Mavrin tell! Reaching out for the candidates, few unfortunately, the blue wher called again. Candidates come! Lesson here! Happy with his job well done, Mavrisk laid down, curled up at Rin's feet as he sat down on a low wall. He'd see who'd arrive before figuring out what to do.
----
Abby heard the wher's call in her head and snapped up from her chores. It was the evening of course, the only time a wher would be out, and she had just began on them. Setting down the broom she'd been using, the candidate pushed her white blonde hair off her shoulders. "Shards, I should have put it up today. Oh well. Dusk come on we got to go!" The dark hued flit chittered and flapped down to His, immidiately snuggling into her shirt as he often did. When Abby got to the area where the lesson was held, she was surprised to see a blue handler instead of the Alpha Handler. However, with the Gold about to run and so much happening since Loraketh's hatching she honestly shouldn't be. Being the first, she was able to sit wherever she wished, but she chose her place at random.

Yufa placed her brush lightly on the bed as she gave her hair a final appraisal, making sure each curl was twisted properly, each bead placed correctly and each pin holding snugly enough to not let her hair drop. She rose, turning to pick up the dress that lay nicely on the bed and began putting it on. It was a simple dress, one that would allow her to move quickly if she needed to, but was still fancy enough to match the style she was raised to wear. Two pairs of shoes sat at the foot of her bed, but she left them there for the time being until she discovered what she would be doing this evening, instead sitting back down on the bed to wait. The call came not long after and Yufa rose, slipping on the flat, less fancy shoes, since they would be more comfortable to wear during a lesson.
She took a calming breath, wondering once again what she was doing. She did not like whers and she was not fond of night, but the dragons had rejected her and the next clutch would not be for a while. Well, for the time being she would attend these lessons, hopefully the creatures would grow on her. Besides, her brother needed someone to protect him at night, now that he no longer needed her during the day. Lowering her head into the customary position of submissiveness, the young woman left the barracks, moving swiftly, but gracefully, to where the lesson was to be held. She entered the room, head still lowered, though she flicked her eyes around the room, subtly taking in who else was there.
She stepped daintily up to the rather terrifying blue wher and the young man who could only be his handler. She lifted the corner of her skirt and dipped in a small curtsy. Normally she should have known the names of those she was addressing, but she had not exactly come to the Weyr to know the wherhandlers.
“Salutations Sir,” she said to Mavrin as she rose from the curtsy, shifting slightly to repeat the movement to the wher, “A pleasure to meet you, Sir Blue.” Greetings aside, she took a moment to decide where to sit. She could sit beside the other girl who had arrived before her and attempt to befriend her, though that was assuming the girl would accept her company. The other option was to sit elsewhere, but would that offend Abby and make her think Yufa wanted nothing to do with her? What a predicament! Well, her father would hate to see his ‘precious daughter’ sitting next to a woman who was as unfeminine as this one appeared to be. She stepped away from the teacher and dipped her head to her fellow candidate.
“Greetings, Miss,” She began calmly, “May I have the pleasure of sitting next to you?”

Zaekrin sat up and rubbed his eyes. It was time for a lesson already? He felt like he hadn't rested at all. Oh well. HE better get a move on. He stood. He was tall, six three, to be exact. He walked out into the corridors of the Candidate Barracks and walked to join the lesson. He walked towards Mavrin and Mavrisk and bowed slightly. "Good to see you, sir, sir blue," he said, inclining his shaggy head to each in turn before turning to find himself a seat amongst the other Candidates.
Well... There was one there by the two girls. He walked over his slender legs and arms doing much to make him look gangly and awkward. "Do you mind if I grab this seat?" he asks, motioning to the open one next to Abby on the other side of her as Yufa. He smiles slightly, his deeper set eyes sparking warmly as his lopsided grin lights up his face.
He sits, a motion that is made somewhat awkward because of how long and gangly his limbs are. He turns his attention to the Candidate Master and waits, not really making conversation right away. He didn't want to interrupt any conversation they might want to have. He did like to be rather unobtrusive much of the time after all.
However it was probably more his thoughts that kept him from having a real conversation. Already he had been here some time and he hadn't seen Daedra or Aeravvin... or A'vin now that he had Impressed...

Korvin ran the teasel brush through Gray’s fur as he waited. It had been a nightly ritual for as long as he could remember, and the medium sized canine enjoyed every minute of it. He had already brushed the male, Boar, who lounged lazily in the corner, grumbling slightly every time someone passed by the room. He was glad that, as of yet, he hadn’t been forced to share the room. He assumed they were shared at least, since there were multiple beds, but there was no way he trusted someone sleeping near him. Not that Boar would let anyone near him while he slept. The Weyr was strange, and he wasn’t so sure he was fond of it, he was already missing the freedom of his roaming lifestyle. He pushed his greasy hair out of his eyes as he moved onto Gray’s tail. He hoped this ‘candidate lesson’ would begin soon. He wondered if there was a skin somewhere with the date of the lesson, since as of yet he had heard nothing more than ‘they would start soon’. These lessons would be a true learning experience for Korvin, since he had never even heard of whers until a few months ago, and he had never seen one.
He jumped, his hand immediately dropping to his belt knife as he tried to locate whoever it was that had spoken. Boar and Gray, both confused by their human’s sudden tenseness, growled viciously, waiting for something to happen. When the voice didn’t come again, and the canines had lost interest in the unknown enemy, he let his muscles relax. Had the voice said lesson? He looked warily about, still unsure about the weird, bodiless voice. Well, he would do as it had told him for now. He pulled out the leather strap that he used to keep Boar tied in place, having learned in his first few days that a vicious dog running free in the Weyr was unacceptable. He tied Boar to the bedpost, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to get free despite his strength. A quick pat on the head and an order to stay was all it took to keep Gray there as well, since she never strayed far from Boar unless commanded to.
He made his way out of the corridors, feeling a tad claustrophobic in the stone walls, since he had grown up in the wilderness. Finally finding the lesson room, he entered, his stride confident despite his lack of knowledge on how things worked. He had entered in time to see the only other male in the room great the human and beast at the front of the room. Korvin cocked an eyebrow, that thing was hideous! Was it a pet? Or.. was that one of the whers… It looked ferocious, and that’s all Korvin needed to know. That thing looked like it would be much more powerful than his canines. The other male finished his introduction and moved to sit with the two girls, one of which looked like she had never stepped foot outside. He scoffed audibly, what kind of idiot was she to be here? The other two, at least, looked like they had seen the outdoors before.
He moved to the opposite side of the room, not wanting to be anywhere near the others, and he felt no need to greet the boy and wher at the front. Like he cared who anyone here was. All he wanted was to learn how to raise the beasts, get one for himself, and go back to his nomadic lifestyle. He was, of course, completely unaware that impressing one of the whers would mean he was stuck at the Weyr.
Now he just wished this ‘lesson’ would hurry up and start. After all, he wasn’t used to sitting around.

Loba shook her head as she watched her wher playing with her food. Alright you, stop playing and eat. Her voice was stern, yet still gentle as she spoke to her bonded. Lobask's Loba go lesson. Mavrisk Marvin wants. Loba's eyes widened when she heard the green's words. Alright, finish your food and we'll go. The wher bounced around happily, and finally finished her meal. She ran over to Loba, who was ready and waiting with a rag to wipe the blood off of the green's jaws.
She sighed and shook her head as she followed her wher to the place the candidate lesson was being held. Alright Lobask, just wait a minute. Loba wrapped her arms around her wher's neck as she spoke. They were going to wait a couple minutes to see what the other pair would do with the candidates. Well, it doens't seem like their doing much, so go say hi. Lobask wasn't exactly sure what her's was saying, but she did understand the part about going and saying high.
Lobask warbled to Hers before running off towards the other wher. Lobask Mavrisk Hi! The green wher bounced happily around the other wher. She sent happy pictures to the blue's handler, though, when she noticed that Her's wasn't there she stopped bouncing, and turned to look for her. Loba shook her head, and made her way over to stand by the other handler. Hi Rin, hello to you too Mavrisk. She smiled and braced herself for what her wher was about to do. Lobask trilled when she saw Hers talking to the others, and ran over to her. She leaned against her, normally this would knock the handler down, but she made sure to brace herself.

Good so far some of the candidates had come to the lesson, and Loba and Lobask even ended up arriving too. Breathing a sigh of relief the blue handler nodded his head. "Hi to you too. Any ideas what to do? I have absolutely none." The handler made sure to only whisper it to the other girl though. Leaning close so that it was sure to only be heard by his intended listener.
Mavrisk in the mean time was surprised by the sudden entrance of the green wher. Squeeking, the blue tripped backward and plopped down on the ground. Mavrisk, Lobask hi.... the blue seemed almost confused though as he thought the words. Mavrin? The blue looked up at His. "Don't worry boy." The handler blushed though. It was quite obvious that the wher was nervous if not just down right shy. Especially now that the blue had backed around Mavrin's legs.
------
Abby looked up as a girl came over to her. "Hello. Sure you can sit near me." The other candidate seemed a prim and proper sort, probably a holdbred girl. Laughing to herself Abetzi shook her head slightly. As a runnerbeast breeder she wasn't so used to nice clothes and being proper. Not that she couldn't, just that she wouldn't. Wearing a dress or skirt for instance? She wouldn't be caught dead like that.
Then a boy came up to them and Abby smiled even wider. Well hello handsome! Not that the girl would flirt though. She really wasn't good at that kind of thing. Nope, leave that to her sister. Patting the open seat next to her, the candidate nodded her head. "Of course you can." Her voice was cheerful at the idea and ended with a laugh as she watched the handlers and their whers. "Seems like someone's having issues." Nodding in the blue and green's direction she laughed again, eyeing the one other candidate that came in as he sat across the way.

“My thanks, Miss” Yufa dipped her head politely before moving to sit in the seat, carefully tucking her skirt so that she would still maintain a presentable appearance when she sat. Once she was comfortably seated, she gave a sideways glance at the girl discreet enough that Abby likely wouldn’t notice. She took in the girl’s attire, thinking first of how unladylike it was, but then her thoughts turned to one of mild envy. How she had wished, so many Turns ago, that she could have dressed like the farm girls, gone off playing and laughing without scornful, watching eyes constantly following her. How lucky this girl was, to have that freedom.
Despite having run away from her horrid father a few months back, Yufa hadn’t yet been able to let loose and forget old ways and mannerisms, they were far too ingrained in her personality now. She was pulled from her musings as another candidate, a boy, approached. As expected of her, she dipped her head in greeting to Zaekrin, though whether he saw or not she didn’t know. She didn’t have time to ponder anyway, as soon a second male had entered. Unlike the rest of the candidates, however, he chose to stay far away from the group. Well, every home had a lone wolf somewhere, chances are he was the one here. He was soon followed by another girl. Yufa jumped in her seat as a green wher launched itself at Loba. How startling!
He glanced at the girl and green creature that came in the room. His belief that these creatures were whers was quickly dropping. He had heard that whers were vicious, powerful, nightmare inducing creatures. Yet the blue one was hiding and the green one was as vicious as a puppy. Had he ended up in the wrong room, or were the friendly ones used for the lessons so that no one died prematurely? He grumbled, getting more and more annoyed at being stuck sitting in his seat while everyone else went about their happy, pathetic little lives, making ‘friends’ with everyone they met.
Glancing across the room, he couldn’t understand why the other brats in the room were so intent on sitting together, especially since it appeared as if they didn’t know each other. Didn’t they realize that the people they were sitting with could easily turn around and betray them? What imbeciles! The notion only further confirmed Korvin’s belief that these people were good for nothing Weyr and Holdbrats – young folk that had never seen the horrors of the real world. Then one of them, the one that looked at least a little aware of the world went and made a comment about him. HE was the one having issues? Oh shards no! He was the one with the common sense.
“Iggerant git,” He mumbled loud enough to likely be heard by the other candidates, his accent obvious despite the short statement.

Zaekrin inclined his head politely to Yufa and nodded to Abby. "Thanks," he said with a smile, his typical lopsided grin at that. "Maybe they are at that. But... Hey," He smiled and shrugged. "It's interesting to see the differences in these whers. He had alwasy thought of whers as big and aggressive... but the Blue seemed shy and hte Green seemed playful. Well... That was something rather different than she had been expecting.
Zaekring nodded to Korvin, despite the fact that he was sitting across the room and turned his attention towards the Handlers. When were they going to get things started, he wondered? And just how were things going to happen. Zaekring thought about his brother then.
Where in the world had A'vin gone? And Daedra? He had yet to see either of them or their dragons since getting here and, to be completely honest, he was getting slightly annoyed. It was strange to him. He had hoped that being at the Weyr would help bring things back to the way that they were supposed to be. The siblings had always relied on each other. Always helped each other. Looked after each other. And now... Well, he supposed he would just have to hope that he came across them some time soon.
"So do either of you have any guesses as to what this particular lesson will be?" he asked, just trying to make some kind of conversation.

Loba sighed, but smiled none the less, as she watched her green wher try to get the other to play with her. Huh? Oh, um...well...we could ask and see what they know about whers. She made sure that the only person that could hear her was Rin. She wasn't sure what a lesson should actually be, but, she thought it would be a good start to see what their candidates did know.
Lobask plopped down in front of the other wher, not quite sure why he wasn't playing with her. Lobask Mavrisk play? Lobask's voice was soft, and gentle as she spoke to the other wher. She looked over at Her's, wondering what was going on. It's alright Lobask, just calm down. The green wher seemed to snort with indignation at her handler's words.
