A New Hope (Touching Thread!)

It had been a long few weeks since Loraketh had first clutched her batch of fifteen eggs. The Weyr was doing well though; a good number of candidates had managed to be brought in, though Inali still worried if there were enough. The current Weyrwoman kept thinking if Sahelli would have been able to bring in more, of course the gold rider was gone now, so that couldn’t be changed. Back to the subject of candidates though, the Weyrwoman had been watching them carefully as they learned their lessons. Still no sign of their possible partners was coming though. Hardening still, the eggs were still as statues.

Setting down the quill she had been using, Inali looked out at the sands. Loraketh was watching her you as usual. Sensing her rider, the Gold looked up and met Inali’s green eyes with her own swirling gaze. It is time for them to come here My Lady. The soft voice chimed in the Weyrwoman’s head. All right then Lore, tell Zalanth to assemble the candidates. Picking herself up, Inali whistled for Pepper to come to her shoulder. The huntyre’s eggs at least had hatched already. “That’s one hatching down, and more one left to go.” Inali’s voice was a hushed whisper under her breath.

Crying out, the huntyre left her perch to come to Hers. Gold, yellow eyes swirled with mixes of red, happy colors strangely enough for a huntyre. Reaching her mind out for the candidate master’s blue, Loraketh pulled out her authoritative side. Zalanth, tell Yours that my eggs are ready to be touched. They must show My Lady and me the proper respect though. This is their only warning.

In his cave, the blue crooned happily as his Queen addressed him. K’torLoveMine! Loraketh says it is time to let the Little Ones meet the eggs. Oh, isn’t this simply wonderful My Love?!? Yawning, K’tor moved out of his chair where he had been repairing some riding gear. “Yes Zala, it’s good. Call them to the sands now.”

Bugling loudly, the light blue dragon sent out a message to their wards. Come now candidates! Loraketh is letting you touch her eggs. Come and meet K’torLoveMine and me at the sands right away! No being late now. Straddling the blue neck, K’tor gave the signal for Zalanth to head over himself. It took the time to cough thrice, which was the rule that all riders learned. Between was cold, but the sands soon made up for that. It was hot out, incredibly so and the sands only made that heat worse.

“Alright, here’s the deal! Loraketh is allowing you all to touch her eggs okay. Allowing being the key word here. She is the largest Queen here, and the WeyrQueen so pay her some respect. Don’t fool around the eggs either.” Casting his dark eyes around the group of candidates, the blue rider hoped they would in fact play nice. “Touch the eggs; get to know the feel of what is inside. The whole point of this is so you know that there is a living being in that shell. Once you are done with one egg, move to the next. Touch as many as you can, so don’t dawdle at only a few.”

Be good Little Ones! You do not want to be Loraketh’s next meal do you? Eyeing the two largest eggs, Loraketh crooned and nudged them between her claws again. They are so very precious My Lady. Inali nodded her head and watched the candidates carefully from her place on Loraketh’s forelimb. Hearing the blue’s words, the dragoness hissed jokingly. Yes, and I am quite hungry. So, do not give me a reason to eat you. “Lore! No eating! They may be one of their riders.” The Queen crooned happily at the Weyrwoman’s words. I was only kidding My Lady…well mostly. Eyeing the candidates again, Inali sighed. The eggs were close together, and the clutch was close to Loraketh, particularly her favorite two eggs. They would have to get pretty close to the gold to touch them. Let us hope they have the nerve to come over then Lore.

The 15 eggs:

1) Black and White egg-
The Black and White egg is exactly that. Half of the egg, the right side, is white, while the other is black. It seems almost as if a split personality even comes from this egg. One second it is happy and excited to have someone touching it. The next, it repels you and wants nothing to do with anyone or anything at all. It would take a large heart to love this dragnet and have the patience to deal with it, it seems.

2) Red Speckled egg-
The Red Speckled egg is a light blue egg with rusty red spots all over it. It's one of the medium sized eggs in the bunch, and has a fairly normal personality. It doesn't stand out too much, and yet it doesn't disappear into the background either. However, because this egg just has to be confusing, it also gives off a feeling of in-satisfaction. It doesn't like that it's in this middle-ground, and it hates its spot. Being too indecisive though to know which way it wants to go, it stays stuck in the middle. It often will bring similar feelings to the person who touches it.

3) Gray Dawn egg-
This egg is a grayish pink color. It's one of the two large eggs that Loraketh watches over protectively. Something calming comes from this egg, yet also calculating. The dragnet inside seems to be very quite as well, almost like there is an absence of speech. Amazingly, if it weren't for Loraketh being so protective, one might even not notice it despite its size. It seems to blend into the shadows and disappear especially next to the equally large Luminous Light egg.

4) Green Swirl egg-
The green swirl egg is another one of those eggs that jumps out at you. However, it isn't because of the color of its shell. In fact, the color is very saturated and dull. Being only a light and pale pink with a green hue swirling through it, it's one of the ones that tends to fade from your vision. However, the feeling from this dragnet's egg is what makes it stands apart from the rest. It is very fearful, so much so that it can be felt across the sands.

5) Midnight Bliss egg-
The Midnight Bliss egg is a very dark blue, to black shelled egg. It's ovular in shape, being more like a normal egg than a dented mess or sphere. It seems proud of this as well. In fact, the entire egg seems to be a creature made on pride, and pride alone. If one were to even whisper to it that something is wrong with how it looks, the shell will lurch up to the hand in defiance.

6) Luminous Light egg-
This egg is shining and golden, however not quite as much as an actual gold egg. Some do speculate that it holds a Queen, however with the way Loraketh acts around the normal looking Gray Dawn egg as well, no one is sure what will come out of it. The egg starts with a golden bronze color and lightens as it nears the top, being an almost off white hue. A strange feeling comes from this egg. It's quite....loud. One can hear it across the sands really, or feel it is more likely a better description. When anyone nears the egg, they can't help but want to admire its beauty and feel compelled to comment on it.

7) Tranquil Blue egg-
This egg is well, calm. Not quite calm like the Gray Dawn egg, but just a serene sweet kind of calm. Being a soft shade of periwinkle blue, it is speckled with silver dots from the top to the bottom of the shell. Anyone who comes around the egg generally wants to stay and sleep near it. Not only is it a relaxing presence, but also one that makes you tired. The dragnet inside also seems concerned about the people it meets. It makes them reflect on their lives and look at all the good memories.

8) White Dancer egg-
The White Dancer egg is softer and more, for lack of a better word, more lady-like than the Sky Spirit egg that it's next to. Seeming to have taken after its mother, the egg is crisp and clean and yet full of energy and a strong-will. It's perfectly round, no nicks, no scratches or rough patches, no discoloration to it at all.

9) Sky Spirit egg-
The Sky Spirit egg, like the White Dancer egg, seems kind of airy and light in personality. However, at the same time, the egg seems to have a sense of being almost too sweet. Not the good kind either. It's almost sickening how much it tries to kiss-up to the person who touches it, tempting them with feelings of happiness and love. It obviously will be an interesting egg to most because of the various reactions it will receive. The shell is a black, very black color even being one of its only stand-out features. It's tiny too, only rivaled on size by the Jumping Yellow egg.

10) Jumping Yellow egg-
The Jumping Yellow egg is just that, very, very yellow. It's bright and out there and is almost as loud as the Luminous Light egg despite being the smallest of the clutch. Being a complete hue of just banana yellow, it even hurts to watch it for long. People in fact normally cannot stand around it without getting a headache, however something compels you to stick to the shell. It's sweet in a childish way, and most love that. Not everyone will of course though, people that are less gentle or patient will hate the yellow egg.

11) Rainbow Love egg-
The Rainbow Love egg is sweet and caring. Though not as in your face as the Pink Heart egg, or even as excited as the Jumping Yellow egg, it is what it is and content to be just that. It's an egg that starts with a light red color at the top, going through all the colors of the rainbow as it moves to the bottom. It's not the smallest egg, but not the size of one of the medium eggs either.

12) Pink Heart egg-
The pink heart is a creamy color that has little reddish, pink markings on it in the shape of a heart. It's an interesting little egg, one that stands out for such a small specimen. It's perfectly round and smooth, not having a single place where it's rough or dented, however something still seems wrong with it. Usually a candidate touching this egg is washed over with
a strange feeling of loneliness and despair. The dragnet inside isn't so much frightened as just worried and longing for the passing candidates.

13) Dark Desires egg-
This particular egg is a bit unsettling in that it makes you think about everything you've ever wanted. However, these desires that are brought forth are not happy ones, it's every secret thing you're ashamed of wanting. Covered by a shiny slate gray shell, it has a blue sheen and perhaps could be called the prettiest egg of the bunch. It's also one of the largest eggs, though not larger than the Luminous Light or Gray Dawn egg.

14) Protective Warmth egg-
This egg portrays not really a protectiveness though as a possessiveness. The dark reddish brown shell is even dented in a few places, but it still reaches out to the candidates as they pass by. It seems to want, want you, want the person next to you, want the person that never came by, It longs for any attention it can grab, and brings forth insecurities in whoever touches it. It's not a happy little egg, but a sad one.

15) Wise Elder egg-
The Wise Elder egg seems exactly like its name. It's a protective and intelligent personality that radiates from the shell in waves. Instead of being cocky and showing off its intelligence though, it is docile and a bit stand-offish. The shell is a light brown, tan that darkens to a mahogany color at the top and bottom. The whole surface seems to pulse with a steady rhythm as well, calming the individual touching it.

Rihard may have been reluctant to attend his lessons on time, but this was completely different. He (and the other candidates) were going to actually see and touch the eggs! As soon as he heard Zalanth's voice in his head telling them to meet in the hatching sands, Rihard dropped what he was doing and ran. It was only chores, anyhow, not anything important.

Unsurprisingly, he was one of the first candidates to arrive. He nodded cordially to the Weyrlingmaster and bowed respectfully to the Senior Weyrwoman and Queen as he had been told. He had trouble paying attention to what the humans were saying, though, because all of Rihard's attention was focused on the fifteen eggs nestled in the hot sand--and had that gold dragon threatened to eat them? It seemed to have been a joke...he hoped.

The candidates were allowed among the eggs, but now Rihard was naturally reluctant to get too close to the queen. He finally gathered up his courage, though, and stepped in front of the closest egg to him. It had a striking shell that shifted from one color to another as Rihard reached out to lightly touch the Rainbow Love egg, wondering what sort of dragon would come from such a colorful egg.

He was soon distracted by the sight of Loraketh's two mystery eggs, though, and he addressed the candidate beside him, though he didn't really expect an answer. "I wonder what's in those two large eggs?"

As the excited and chipper voice of K’tors blue entered his mind, Ryaxth was beginning to realize that he wasn’t feeling so nervous or annoyed that his personal space could be intruded so easily. In fact he rather enjoyed the calming feeling. Is this what it’ll feel like if I Impress? The lad wondered silently to himself as he carefully made his way down to the hatching sands. He sure hoped so. Stepping into the harsh sunlight, Ry shielded his eyes with one hand as he scanned the grounds, and what he saw nearly made him walk right back to the barracks. He had heard and read a little on the size of dragons but he wasn’t prepared to come face to face with the Weyr Queen. Swallowing nervously he stuck his hands in his pockets and slowly began the trek across the boiling sands.

As he drew closer to the mother gold, Ryaxth was able to listen in on what instructions K’tor was saying. Well, this was definitely a lot different then the last time he had been on the sand in front of a clutch of eggs. For one thing, there wasn’t a wing of dragons trying to make him lunch. The Candidates bi-colored eyes widened slightly at the mention of “touching the eggs” and he looked around to the other candidates to see if they were intimidated at all by the, seemingly, simple request. Apparently not. Glancing from the eggs to the gold then back again, Ryaxth took a calming breath and carefully stepped closer to the next generation, warily eying the two eggs nestled between the Queens claws that he would eventually have to step up and touch.

Cautiously Ry stepped up to the eggs and gently laid his hand on the hardening shell of each. It was an interesting experience to say the least. Being able to feel the living creatures inside was fantastic. Each egg he touched was different from the last and left him with a distinctly different feeling. He did notice that not all of the eggs reacted to his touch or presence, almost like they weren’t interested in him. Frowning slightly at the thought, Ry finished touching the thirteen eggs and stepped back for a second. He needed to gather himself before stepping up to the two resting between the Queens claws. Surely she’s not actually going to eat me? ….right? His own voice echoed inside his skull, almost as if he was trying to convince himself.

Finally after a few moments of silent contemplation, Ry glanced from the Weyrwoman to the Queen and gave a small bow to each of them, out of respect, before stepping up to the two largest eggs. He was so close now he could practically feel the queens eyes burning into him. It was amazing how vastly they differed in coloration, and he quietly wondered if his future partner resided in one of the strangely colored eggs. Moving to each of them in turn, Ry let his hand rest on their hardening shells a hint of a smile crossing the lads features as he did so. From somewhere behind him he heard one of the other candidates ask about the eggs and he quickly snapped out of the small trance he seemed to be in. Shaking his head to rid himself of the feeling and seeming almost reluctant to leave the eggs, Ryaxth carefully stepped away from the mother and her clutch and took up a spot near the Candidate Master and his trusty Blue, wondering what could possibly come next.

T'rianMine Lore is letting the candidates touch the eggs. Let me guess you want to go see them? T'rian smiled and rolled his eyes when the large bronze turned his head and gazed at him with gently swirling eyes. Alright Salty, come on. The bronze rider climbed onto his dragon, while his rainbow huntyre cawed noisily from his perch on T'rian's bed, and flew to His' shoulder. After his huntyre was secure, T'rian gave Stallorth the signal to take off. The large dragon in question launched himself off the ledge and quickly betweened to the hatching sands. Stallorth back-winged as he gently landed next to the sands that held his mate and their eggs. He rumbled his happiness as he let his rider off of him, and slowly made his way to his mate.

I'm sorry Inali, he wouldn't stop begging to come and see Lore and the eggs. I had to let him come. He respectfully bowed to the golden queen as he walked over to her rider. Greetings Loraketh, how are you today. The Weyrleader smiled politely at the golden dragon as his own bronze dragon reached over to her and gently nuzzled her neck, being careful not to bump Inali off of her leg. T'rian smiled his greetings as the candidates started to show up, and start the Touching.

Akira sighed when she heard Zalanth's voice inside her head once again. This is going to start getting annoying Blue. She was glad that she would have the chance to go and touch the eggs, but having the dragon's voice inside her head at the worst times was getting on her nerves. She put down the small stack of clothing that she had been folding and putting away to go and answer the blue's call. Blue on the other hand was chirping happily from his perch on her shoulder. He wanted to go see the larger dragons, and wanted to see what their eggs looked like. You have to stay here Blue, I'd hate to see what would happen to you if Loraketh got mad because you got close to her eggs. Blue lowed his head, and mewled sadly as he flapped down to Akira's bed. He looked up at her as she left the room, wising he could go with her.

Akira sighed and hung her head when she saw that there were already other candidates there. She just wanted to get this done and over with. With as little social interaction as possible. She slowly walked up to the Hatching Sands, and gazed over the fifteen eggs that were their. The Weyrwoman and Weyrleader and their dragons were already their. Well, the Weyrqueen's supposed to be here. She mentally scolded herself at her lack of attention. She nodded a quick greeting to K'tor and his blue dragon Zalanth before greeting the other adults. Greetings Weyrwoman Inali, Weyrleader T'rian, and to you too Bronze Stallorth and Gold Loraketh. Her voice was soft, yet loud enough for each of them to hear her clearly. She bowed respectfully to the golden dragon before slowly making her way to the eggs. The first one that caught her attention was the Luminous Light egg.

Since it was tucked away safely between Loraketh's golden legs she decided better than to approach the egg. Yet she just couldn't get her mind off of it. She had heard some people say that it might hold a golden dragon, yet other's had said that there was no possible chance. Akira herself wasn't sure, and she knew that she wasn't going to know until the egg hatched, and she wasn't going to make any speculations about it's inhabitant. Instead she slowly made her way to the Green Swirl egg. She wasn't sure what it was about this egg that made her feel scared, but she wasn't going to find out until she got closer. So she made her way over, and gently reached out and touched the light, pale pink shell. She wasn't sure why she was attracted to this egg that made her feel so scared, but from the few eggs that she had seen so far, this was her second favorite egg.

Nick was laying around in his bed, watching the clouds float passed, when he heard Zalanth's voice inside his head. You know what that means little buddy. Rex chirped in acknowledgement at His' words, but made no move to live Nick's side. Wait for me here little buddy. Rex growled then laid himself back down on their bed. Nick smiled and rolled his eyes as his bronze firelizard started to ignore him. He's going to be mad at me later but I have a chance to touch the eggs and I ain't missing it. Nick spoke out loud to himself as he made his way to the Hatching Sands. He lazily walked across the Weyrbowl from his room to the Hatching Sands where there was already a small group of people gathered there to touch the eggs.

He smiled and waved lazily at the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader as he got closer. Greetings Gold Loraketh and Weyrwoman, you too Bronze Stallorth and Weyrleader. Nice day isn't it? That last little bit was more to himself than to the two adult dragons and their riders. He then made his way to the candidate master and his dragons. Hi K'tor and how's it Zalanth? He smiled a lazy greeting to the two of them, and then turned his attention back to the eggs that had been picking at the back of his mind all day. He slowly made his way over to the eggs, wondering which one to touch first. The Protective Warmth egg caught his attention first. He felt a kind of pull from the egg, as if it was trying to pull him to it. He gave it a wary look, and turned away from the egg instead of going to it, and touching it. The possessiveness of that egg had the hairs on the back of Nick's neck standing on edge.

Derek dropped and ran as soon as he heard Zalanth's call. He had been in the barracks, just playing with Pounce when he heard the Blue's voice in his mind. Loraketh was letting them meet the eggs! He couldn't be late! This was a big moment. He could possibly meet the dragon he was to ride one day!

Sternly ordering Pounce to stay and behave, he took off at a full sprint. Skidding to a stop outside of the Hatching Sands, he took a moment to compose himself. Taking deep breaths to slow his racing heart, he closed his eyes and willed himself to calm down. After a few more seconds it worked, and he opened his eyes, turned, and stelled onto the sands.

Bowing deeply to Loraketh and Inali, he glared at the other Candidates there. Most of them seemed skittish around the Gold Queen. She threatened to eat them if they were disrespectful, but Derek knew that must be a joke. Surely the Gold would not eat the potential riders of her precious children?

Derek, unlike the other Candidates, marched right up to the Luminous Light egg. He wasn't afraid of anything, even Loraketh! He felt compelled to go to this egg first, so he did. Running his hands along it, he smiled before turning to the Gray Dawn egg. It was calming to him, and he felt his pulse slow. Before he got too caught up, however, he moved to the next egg, so on and so forth, until he had touched all of them. He moved back and wondered what happened next.

Tahoi took her time getting to the sands. Barefoot, she nearly yelped when she walked out onto them. She was a complete mess, muddy and dirty, but her eyes were brighe as she bowed to Loraketh and Inali. She smiled, revealing a missing tooth, and stepped forward.

The first egg she went to was the Jumping Yellow egg. She liked how excitable it seemed to be, and though it's color was almost eye-blinding, it was kind of nice, too. She wondered what type of dragon was inside, and whether it would be the one to choose her or not.

Realizing she had spent too long at one egg, she moved to the Black and White egg. As soon as she touched it, however, the egg gave her the feeling of not wanting to be touched! She hastily stepped back and nearly tripped over the Red Speckled egg, which she touched next. She didn't like that one very much, as it was too indecisive for her. She knew what she wanted, and so should her dragon! Then again, if she Impressed at all, she'd be happy.

Moving on to the Midnight Bliss egg, she was almost taken back. What an arrogant little thing! She giggled, running her fingers over the egg, and smiled. This dragon would know what it wanted! She skipped the Green Swirl egg. She had no room for fear in her life. Finally touching all the eggs, even the Green Swirl (but only briefly), she looked at K'tor, wondering what she should do.

Aela headed to the Sands and bowed to the Golden Queen, "Greetings great Queen. May I Touch your eggs? I will not harm or soil them." The girl meant what she said. Her eyes traveled over the eggs. A rainbow egg, a bronzy colored egg, and there was even a dark blueish egg. Aela waited for the Queen to let her onto the Sands. Soon it meant that the Hatching would happen. Crest tried to enter the Sands, but Aela sent him a mental warning. He had to wait off the Sands.

The Blue paced at the entrance to the Sands and watched as his owner got to experience all the fun. Aela looked up at the Golden Queen and gave her a gentle smile, "And I must say you are looking rather lovely today." It paid to be nice to the Queen. After all she could easily kill Aela with one swip of a clawed hand and Aela didn't want that. The girl waited for a response as she looked at the pretty eggs.

Loraketh crooned as one candidate after the other came to greet Hers and her. Nodding her head at each one, she observed them carefully as they moved around her eggs. Some stayed close, not wanting to start until she gave her permision, honestly Loraketh liked these candidates best. The Gold crooned at her mate as Stallorth came to observe the eggs too. Inali smiled at T'rian and laughed. "Well, I don't blame him." The Weyrwoman wondered if Iskra would make an appearance as well, though she secretly hoped not. There was only so much room on the sands for dragons, and already a blue, a bronze and a gold with her clutch was getting crowded.

Looking over the candidates, Inali nodded approvingly. "It shouldn't be too much longer now T'rian. They'll hatch soon enough...I just hope everything is okay when they do." Some of the eggs felt strange to the Weyrwoman, though no one could ever really tell what dragons are like until they were already out of the shell. Sighing, the dark haired girl leaned against her weyrmate. Loraketh cast her eyes at Hers and nuzzled the rider's side. Yes, no one ever does know until they come do they now? There was a secret message in those words, and Inali was in on it. Blushing, the Weyrwoman looked away. It wasn't time to say anything yet, she didn't know when...but something told her to just keep silent.

When Stallorth growled at one of the candidates for coming up to her two precious eggs, Loraketh hissed back. How are my eggs supposed to see the candidates if they do not come!?! Nipping at the bronze's side, the larger gold hissed again. Be nicer you! You do want your young to find Theirs, right? Looking at the bronze, the WeyrQueen's eyes swirled with a bit of yellow and red. Turning to the candidates, the gold's voice echoed in their minds. Please, do not fear me. If you mean them no harm, then you don't have anything to worry about.

Stallorth's over-grown bronze head lowered protectively over his mate and their eggs when a male candidate got a little too close to the two eggs that Loraketh kept between her two front legs. It actually made him seem more hormonal and protective than the female dragon. I know they'll all be fine. He shook his head at his bronze as he spoke to his weyrmate. You know, there are times when I think you should be the one laying the eggs you over grown mutt. He smiled as he teased his dragon. He started laughing when the large male turned and growled at him for what he said, not that he would do anything about it. He turned his head, and looked at Inali when she spoke, there was something about what she said that made T'rian believe she was hiding something from him.

Stallorth jumped a little when Loraketh hissed, and yelled at him. He stared at her, and listened to her words. He lowered his large head, and turned away from the eggs. I want them to find Their's. His words were deflated as he spoke to the golden queen. He knew he had been thoroughly repremanded, and kept his big mouth shut, and just watched as more of the candidates came to touch the eggs.

Akira wanted to go see the two eggs that were guarded by their mother and father, but when Derek got growled at by the large bronze male she thought it would benefit her health to remain a safe distance from the two precess eggs. She moved around, and touched the other eggs, but couldn't get her mind off of the Green Swirl egg and how it made her feel so scared. She shook her head, and left the sands to go stand by K'tor and Zalanth. Maybe the two of them would be able to get her mind off of the strange feelings she had swriling within her.

Greetings K'tor and Zalanth, how are you two today? Her words were quiet, only loud enough to be heard by the dragon and his rider. She wasn't sure what she should be doing now that she had finished touching the eggs. So she stood quietly in front of the blue dragon, and his rider. She watched the other candidates as they tuck their turns with the eggs. Soon she started to wonder who would get which hatchling from which egg.

Nick had moved from the Protective Warmth egg, and on to the Rainbow Love egg. He didn't really feel anything from the egg when he touched it, and soon moved on to another egg. He was starting to wonder if he would find an egg that he felt he liked. He sighed as he moved from egg to egg, touching each one, leaving the two between Loraketh's untouched. He wasn't sure if he would get a dragon when they hatched, and from what he felt from them he wasn't sure he wanted one either.

Nick jumped a little when he heard Loraketh's voice inside his mind. He nodded, not really sure why he made that motion since no one was really paying attention to him. He walked slowly, cautiously, up to the two large eggs. The first egg he saw was the Luminous Light egg, he wasn't really sure he wanted to aproach the large egg because he believed that it had a queen inside, which mean that he wanted nothing really to do with it. Instead he walked up to the Gray Dawn egg.

Kneeling down beside the egg, he reached out and touched the large eggs shell. He felt a calming sensation coming from the egg, but there was something else there, something he couldn't put his finger on. With that strange feeling inside of him, he left the two large eggs, bowing to the two large dragons, and their riders as he did so. He walked over to K'tor, not really seeing where he was going, or what he was doing.

Seeing the way the bronze growled as one of the candidates approached the two largest eggs, Rihard decided not to even bother touching those two. He doubted he would end up Impressing either of them anyway; he didn't plan on a bronze or brown in his future, to be honest. The more he thought about it, the more he thought he'd prefer a blue or, he supposed, a green, though he didn't relish the thought of sleeping with men when it came to flights. Still, there were bound to be upsides to Impressing...

The next egg to draw his attention was the Jumping Yellow egg. Unsurprising; not only was it a garishly bright color, it was by far the smallest in the clutch, and Rihard wondered how a dragon's body even fit inside it as he lightly tapped the shell. His head was starting to ache from staring at it, though, so he quickly moved on.

He stared at the Red Speckled and Tranquil Blue eggs, they were both lightly speckled with other colors and large enough that Rihard thought either of them could hold a brown, or at least a blue. The larger of the two seemed normal...or was it? As he touched the shell, something about the egg seemed...dissatisfied. He turned to the Tranquil Blue. This one was a bit more to his liking; it gave him a calming, mellow feeling.

He stuck around them a while longer, but the Touching was beginning to come to a close. The bronze father of the clutch had moved away from the eggs a bit after being reprimanded by his mate, so Rihard was feeling a bit more daring. He decided to try checking out the two large eggs after all. The golden Luminous Light egg drew his attention first, as it had just about everyone's. He couldn't help but notice how...beautiful it was. It still didn't seem like a queen egg, but something about it seemed feminine to Rihard, though it might just have been his imagination, considering its resemblance to a queen egg. Still, he didn't consider himself likely to Impress that one, so he moved on to the somewhat overlooked Gray Dawn.

Rihard was surprised at how this egg seemed to just blend into the background, despite its size. He wondered what sort of dragonet was inside it. A brash bronze as he had assumed? A shy brown? Who knew? He moved on and touched the rest of the eggs before joining the group of candidates who had finished already.
