As you know, Staff has had a few weeks of back and forthing about what to do with plot and the site. Unfortunately we have come to the conclusion that even if we were to advertise and have contests to try and gain new members, that only solves half of our problem. I will be completely honest with you here, all of our ideas are at least three to four turns in the future from where we are. Because of this, there is a second board being made currently. The move is hopefully going to be official on February 14th, and in the mean time we will still have things like the graduation and gather.

What will you find that's the same there?...

• The colors that we have polled on *the winners were Topaz, Obsidian, Garnet, Ebony and Amethyst*.
  
• The same place of Trelis with the situation we are planning on getting ourselves into. *will be explained below*
  
• Many of the same characters and members you know and love.
  

What will you find that is different there?...

• It is four two turns in the future *revised timeline*.
  
• There is threadfall going on, as well as dragon fights.
  
• It is a split situation between the Obsidian Rebellion and Trelis Weyr *and the rest of Pern*.
  

Characters will be able to cross over from one site to the other, and they don't even have to be four whole turns older. This is because I know there are some things people are waiting for that they like to rp *first lessons, flights, etc*. So, what will happen in the coming weeks as the site is being made is that you will post your characters you'd like to bring over *you can start with four right now* and you say how much older YOU are comfortable making them. Staff then will rearrange some of the clutches and timing so that it all works out.

So, a lot of you are probably wondering what are these ideas that we had...basically the following, although subject to change at this moment in time, is what will have happened by the time the new site starts IC.

• An Obsidian rider from the north makes a pact with Sollace Hold. They start to grow in numbers *for the non-canon colors and mutations* and they start to cause problems for Trelis. I.E. the steal herdbeasts, tithes, and potential candidates from Sollace Hold generally go to them instead.
  
• Trelis cannot outright be violent to them, so they are passive aggressive. In the middle of all this, thread starts to fall and early on Loraketh is injured by thread and betweens. *She was trying to help an injured blue and Inali was on the ground*. Iirla rises to become Weyrwoman after that, and J'dol and Kayath move to the position of Junior Weyrwoman-err-man >.>
  
• Chahaturth, unhappy under her sibling's rule goes to join the rebellion with D'tri. More squirmishes follow, and S'vrin's group comes back to add to the drama. Basically, in the end Trelis splits in half with one half for the rebellion, and the other against it. There is a major fight, and The Rebellion loses. Wounded, the regather at a small island off of the Southern Continent.
  
• This is where the story begins on The Obsidian Rebellion: Trelis Weyr.
  

I feel that this is the easiest way to do what is needed for this place. It will gain new members, as well as get us to a point that is fun and exciting. As Zara said to me even, people like having rebellion and chaos as part of a plot. It will bring in people more than this site will with how it is, and I'm afraid that we can't revive Trelis as it is. So, will you join us at The Obsidian Rebellion? Consider this not as a new place, but simply a new chapter in the story we already love.

I'm down with rebellion plotlines. My one issue would be the name, as Obsidian Rebellion is REALLY, really close to Benecio Weyr's Onyx Rebellion, and I wouldn't want any accusations of copying them. Is the current Trelis site being abandoned, or will it run as a sort of alternate universe to the new forum?

And I guess I'll go ahead and send over my four. Aristide and B'den in particular would probably be interested in joining the rebellion.

I wouldn't worry about it being too similar. Obsidian is the name of the dragoness that started it, but the idea's behind it are our own. I've never even been over to Benecio so I can't say that's where it came from. Anyway, as far as the current site being up or not, that depends. If there is enough interest and a staff member willing to look over it, then yes it can be, but there are not any ideas for plots really. The characters can be made still newly impressed as well if you are worried about missing out on gameplay, so we're trying to make it as easy on everyone as possible. However, it does seem like the best option for getting to where we need to be and keeping the idea of Trelis Weyr going.

Eh, personally I'd recommend changing it anyway just to be safe; Benecio's a fairly old and well-established site. Even if you haven't seen it, there's a good chance new members will have; but it's your site, not mine. To be honest, I had not gotten the impression activity was lacking on Trelis. At least nine or ten active members (off the top of my head) and new people joining in the last couple of day is pretty good, from what I've seen. I have had trouble getting people to reply to my open posts, but that might be just me?

We have other reasons than just activity, and I'm honestly not worried about the name of the site. It's still Trelis Weyr, just another chapter of its story. I see no problem with naming it something that plays a large part in its making, and is the name of one of our colors. Besides, the site has already been started and the url can't be changed. Either way, it's not a concern really. If you have any other questions you can always pm me too Kit.

As the Potential rper of said obsidian I have to say I will defend the name of the board against any accusations of copying. It's simply the name of the site and also, as lark said, it's our own color and our own plot line. In all honesty, myself personally, I'm not anal retentive enough to believe that would change someone's mind about joining us. It may be just me, but I think anyone who would start crap because of something like THAT, has no business being in our boards in the first place. I mean, I would hope we're all more intelligent than that.
