Iirla looked at her yet small gold. She was going to be big soon enough... It was going to be a bit of a challenge to oil her, she was certain, when she was full grown... She gently patted the young gold who was enjoying the sun in the weyrbowl. The flick of a wing told her that Izanycorth was in the mood to just sleep and rest. Not like there was much time for that. There she was. Ama with the oil cloth that Iirla had forgotten. The f litter wasn't to pleased to be sent on the errand.
It seemed like moments ago that Iz had been upset because her hide itched and wasn't shiny enough now. Well... now she was resting. Of course, she could tell that she was still bothered by an itch - in particular, one between her wings. "Alright, Ama, let's get to work." The flitter looked taken aback. She actually wanted her to help oil this.. this THING!
She chittered irritably, but Iirla didn't even get a chance to say anything. Little sub-queens should so as they're told. Her tone was irritable and set as she lifted her head to look at the orange, purple, and gold ametrine flitter who proceeded to chitter again at the gold. Iirla rubbed her temples. She was starting to have quite enough of this.
"Could you both stop!" She looked at Ama and at Iz. Ama did not become quiet, but it was the gold who forced her will on her until she started to become quiet. She may not be a flitter, but she was still a queen and other dragons, and thus flitters, listened to Queens. Iirla sighed. This was going to be a long day... yet again.
She wondered how other dealt with dragon's and possesive flits... and how the Weyrwoman and Iskra had dealt with their golds because, sometimes, it all seemed like quite the handful.
((Sorry it's short...))

Inali held Inoria in her arms, hugging the little girl as she cried. "I left you for only a little bit with the headwoman and already you're upset?" She sighed and shook her head, looking at Talian who was still sleeping. Well, that would have to be dealt with then. After all, if her younger daughter couldn't stand being away from her, Inali wasn't about to make her endure it. She had her own mother taken away from her because of death, she wasn't about to let her own daughters feel anything like it in the least!
Still cradling Inoria, the Weyrwoman nodded her head to the woman looking after the other sleeping twin, wishing that the one in her arms would do the same. "You're not going to be easy, are you?" The babe cried again, sniffling as she curled up against her mother's chest. Her mother meant safety, why would she ever want anything but that? Crooning softly, Ghost looked down at the baby from Hers' shoulders, then quieted again. It was an odd creature that Hers had.
Bring her here to me My Lady. We'll calm her together. Loraketh's voice in her mind was a blessing on Inali. The Gold was sunning herself near the WeyrBowl, on top of it to be precise near where the river fell into one side of it. Entering the huge bowl, Inali looked up for the Golden form, smiling as it rose up and spread its wings. My sister's daughter is here as well. Flicking her eyes to the other side of the Bowl, Inali nodded her head. So, Iirla and Izanycorth were here as well. Did you want me here for other reasons besides Inoria, Lore?
The Gold laughed lightly in Hers' mind, not giving any other answer. Landing with a light thud nearby the young Queen, Loraketh curled her tail around her feet and tucked her wings partially against her side, holding the rest open like two large fans. Good afternoon Izanycorth. I suppose you and Yours are doing well? The Gold's tone was simple, polite, and gentle. It wasn't motherly really, after all the younger Queen wasn't her daughter, but it wasn't dismissive either.
Inali caught up to her dragoness soon, nodding her head as she saw Iirla better up close. "Hello there. I thought I'd see how you were doing, since we haven't had time for a lesson really yet." Generally Golds had extra lessons a few times a week, the Sub-Queens had them at least once a week. The few week old Gold however hadn't had any extra time with Inali though since Iskra had left soon after her dragon's clutch hatched. There was too much work to do to really make time, though Inali knew she should have.
"I guess it would be best to greet you formally. My name's Inali," the Weyrwoman smiled, sitting down on her dragoness' forearm. The large Queen, the largest dragon in the Weyr nuzzled her rider's back gently, glancing around the WeyrBowl at the remaining dragons. Be gone, all of you. Her command was simple, but followed by those that it reached. Soon, the two dragons and their riders were the only ones left, of course their firelizards too though. Speaking of which, Ghost unwound herself from Hers' throat at that moment, moving only temporarily to get a better look at the new strangers. Then, she was still again like a statue.
Inoria gurgled at the green flit's movement, and looked up at the Gold, reaching for her mother's dragon. Loraketh crooned at the child, letting her head fall down till her nose was within the girl's grasp. There little one. Her tone was light as she spoke, flicking her eyes back up to look at Izanycorth and the Ametrine flit. You, behave, now. The WeyrQueen's word was law, and that was that, the flit had no real choice. Well...she did, but that would be entirely against her instincts. Don't worry, you are quickly getting the hang of it. Soon, you'll be able to command the dragons as well. Even now though, as the only other Queen here, you have quite a bit of power over them.
The Queen crooned at the young Gold, spreading her wings out as she lowered herself to a laying position carefully. "So, let's start by having you ask questions. I'm sure you have some."

The young gold looked up to the approaching gold, watching her in motion, her lovely gleaming hide which was so distinctly gold and untainted by bronze or green. She was a large gold. Would she be that big some day? She felt her jealousy again. Her eyes held hints of red, but it was but a moment. She was the WeyrQueen!
Iirla frowned and sent soothing feelings to her dragoness, but at the same time, she was also having to restrain her from giving any bratty displays. It would be ill advised and a poor excuse for behavior in front of none other than Loraketh! The WeyrQueen! Her aunt! Calm, Iz, calm.
Her dragoness gave a small huff, but settled herself, moving her wings slightly, setting off the itching sensation again. Iirla could feel the irritation as if it were her own and she winced slightly. It was an unpleasant situation and Iz almost felt smug at that. Her rider new. She looked at the Amatrine pest who was staring at the approaching gold, her eyes whirling in irritation. Another big yellow-y one to try to push her around!? Hrmph!
We are doing well, Loraketh, how are you and yours and the little ones of yours fairing? For a moment, Iz seemed to be very distracted by the little girl, her head tilting ever so slightly. Iirla looked at her and smiled before turning to the Weyrwoman.
Iirla bowed to the Weyrwoman. After all, didn't you typically bow to those in authority? "Thank you, Lady Inali. I'm Inali." Iirla looked around her, almost startled, as all of the dragon's left at what, she presumed, had to be a simple order from their Queen. Amazing... Queens had a lot of power. It was almost a frightening thought. Izanycorth... She might have that kind of power some day.
Iz seemed to shudder inside. She didn't want the responsibility... though... there were certain perks that came with the territory. But... Iirla reached out and pattered Izanycorth's leg gently.
Ama looked at the gold and seemed rather upset, but she did not dare to disobey, but rather ducked her head and wrapped her tail around Iirla's neck. She gave a soft huff and seemed to settle herself.
Izanycorth seemed to consider this, not certain of what she should say, but bowed her head slightly. Thank you... Her tone was uncertain, perhaps a bit morose even, but one would not be able to tell, at least not easily.
Iirla seemed to think for but a mere moment. "As junior weyrwoman... What is it that I'm supposed to do for the Weyr? Should I already be... doing something... What with Iskra having left...?"
She really had little idea of what her responsibilities were about to become... Iirla Hallivan had gone from a hold girl to a Candidate, to the Weyrling and rider of a gold dragon. It was a big change that had come rather quickly.

Loraketh didn't notice any of the younger Gold's resentment. She had other things to worry about, other things to deal with. The WeyrQueen was partially in contact with one of the Queens at Ista, checking on how things were. Palirath and she had been going back and forth since the riders had returned. My Lady, it seems that they are doing fine there. The bronzerider put in charge won her mating flight it seems, so everyone is finally settled. The Gold crooned, thinking on her next flight.
Do you think I will clutch my own Queen My Lady? She turned one spinning eye to Izanycorth, looking at the small Gold. She was beautiful, didn't she see that power did not come with the color of one's hide. Loraketh herself had learned much even from the lowest of Greens. The only thing that mattered was how you reacted. Of course, the new Queen didn't seem to enjoy the idea of controlling others. The WeyrQueen could tell that much.
Inali nodded her head. She figured that Iirla would ask for that answer first. "Well, currently the Obsidianrider from Ista is filling in partially for that position since you need to foremost focus on raising Izanycorth. When she ages we'll start to integrate you more and more into the position. By the time she graduates, and finally flies, you'll be the head Junior Weyrwoman. Hopefully by then we'll have another Queen as well. Though, with the Sub-Queens I think we'll do fine for a while."
The Weyrwoman didn't fail to notice Loraketh's eyes flash red at the thought that her own Golden daughter was something not necessarily needed at the moment. There can never be enough Queens here right now My Lady. The tone was slightly bitter. Then again, she had struck a hard spot for her dragoness. Don't worry Lore, you've only clutched once. I'm sure your next will have a Gold, and a Sub-Queen or two too. The Queen crooned at this, settling her head down next to her rider's body.
Inoria cooed and reached over for the head knob, the appendage almost being the length of her own body. Cradling her more in her arms, Inali smiled. "As for what you can do now to help...I think focusing on your lessons and taking care of her is good enough." She inclined her head toward Izanycorth as she spoke. "Try practicing your leadership skills in your Weyrling class though. It'll also get her confidence if she lacks any. Though by how she reacted at the Hatching....I'm not sure. Are you having a problem of any sort with Izanycorth?"
The goldrider bit her lip as she remembered the young Queen's hatching. She had seemed so insecure and upset over not being the normal Gold. She had even shouted out when some of her siblings mocked her. She will have to learn My Lady. As did I. Inali rolled her eyes and looked up at Loraketh. "You had too much confidence dearheart. You had to learn to reign it in and be more polite and fair." Looking at Iirla, she laughed. "Want to talk about proddy Queens when the hatch, this one here tried to kill her bronze brother."
He started it! The Gold snapped back aloud, not bothering to hide her voice from the other weyrling. The tone was slightly angry, but it was also detached. The only reason she even remembered that day three and a half turns ago was because Hers did so vividly.

I cannot wait until the day that I fly, Mine. Then they will all envy me. Even it will envy me... I am a gold... Why do I have to prove it? I don't even want this... I don't want to It was a private message to just her rider. She seemed to give a huff and she resettled herself. There was a spot between her wings that itched terribly and she sent the feeling to Iirla who winced. "I hope you don't mind lady Inali, but I think that I need to oil Izanycorth between the wings still...." that was all she said. Do not worry Mine. I will make the little bug do it for you. Iirla shook her head. I may not want to control others, but controlling the little bug is very useful. She turned her attention to the flitter briefly... And... despite her protests, she soon gave in and covered her limbs in the oil that was already there adn began to roll and cover those areas which still needed to be oiled. THis did help her too, though. So it wasn't so bad.
Iirla seemed to think about that then. "I certainly do think I need to focus on raising her... I will always do my best, Inali. Um... not particularly..." she exchanged a quick look with Izanycorth who then let her eyes slide shut as she enjoyed the feeling of being oiled. Though she was rather glad that Iirla had kept those particular facts between the two of them. "She needs guidance from time to time... but she is young..." Iz gave a soft snort. Hrmph. Iirla smiled and reached over, gently rubbing the gold's shoulder lovingly.
Iirla's expression turned to one of surprise. "That doesn't seem likethe Loraketh that I've coem to know as the WeyrQueen of Trelis!" she looked at the large, rather serene and motherly gold. She was an incredibly dragoness... Of course, Iirla was biased in this, but... No dragoness, Gold or otherwise could ever rival Izanycorth for beauty! Not even Loraketh. Especially to her.
Izanycorth looked up at Loraketh in surprise. Her Bronze brother must have been far different than hers...

Inali laughed at Iirla's words. "And you'd probably not peg me for someone who used to lock myself in my room all day because I wanted to be as far away from people as I could. People grow up, they mature, they experience things." Loraketh chortled in agreement, nudging her rider's side. Yes. Well, mostly grow up. I'm not some stiff after all! Inali shook her head. No she wasn't. "At her hatching her bronze brother killed a green for no reason really."
It was useless bloodshed. Not needed, and he was to be punished. I still say he should have been. He's in....Far Reaches now I believe. Yes, that's where. The Weyrwoman stepped down today Mine. The Juniors are anxious to see who replaces her. The Weyrwoman nodded her head. "Something you'll notice is as she gets older, Izanycorth will become part of a network. The Queens talk to each other often. I just learned information about Far Reatches for instance. See of Izanycorth can reach them. It would be good for her to feel that special connection anyhow that Queens have to each other."
She sat back and watched as Inoria curled her tiny hand around her finger.

No… she wouldn’t have. Not in a million years. “You’re right. I never would have even guessed…” Her expression was rather shocked and surprised and it was with great effort that she had managed to speak without a great exclamation. However, she was rather shocked. She also was wondering what she was going to be like. She liked being herself. Perhaps a bit more than she should at times.
Izanycorth's eyes swirled with slight distress. However... the death of a green did not, in all honesty, truly concern her too much. It was undeserved, however, and that was something that didn't sit right with her. She had a green or two and maybe a topaz that she would like to see at least punished for making fun of her. One green had had the nerve to speak up on ehr hatching day. Se did not like that.
Iirla frowned. "Senseless murder is worth punishment..." She understood why the dragonet shouldn't necessarily die, but still.... It seemed just so... hard to accept a dragonet killing another or a person for that matter. She frowned slightly, thinking about it.
Izanycorth's feeling of near dismay prompted Iirla to pat the young gold affectionately. "Go on, darling... You can do it." Izanycorth took a breath... and reached for Far Reaches, for the golds there. Hello. I am Izanycorth of Trelis... How do you fair? She attempted to be queenly and in control, but she did not feel the confidence she was attempting to display and it made her anxious and somewhat more irritable. Iirla gave her another gentle pat.
