It was hot, hotter than J’dol could ever remember it being before. The air itself was so humid and muggy, that it almost felt hard to breathe. It was a rest day, thankfully, so J’dol had quickly found himself dressed in only a pair of shorts and lounging in a shady area to try to cool off in while Kayath stretched. Despite not having classes today, she insisted on doing the exercises that they had been taught to do at the beginning of each lesson; if she was to be as perfect as she knew she was, then she needed to be on top of such things. It really wouldn’t do to fail when the time came for flying. Not that she would fail of course, she would be the star! However, she believed it didn’t hurt to be extra prepared anyway. J’dol moaned as she moved on to a different set of exercises, mumbling incoherently about the heat. If it’s so bad, why don’t we go to the lake when I have finished. She commented, annoyed that Hers did not understand why this was so important to her.
“Why don’t we go now..” J’dol retorted, but realizing the stubborn Topaz wouldn’t move until she finished, he came up with a better idea. “The resistance of the water will make the exercises harder you know. It would be like exercising twice.” The orange dragon, now standing almost twice as tall as her rider, paused her movements as she thought over the compromise. Then, without warning she turned and walked towards the lake, her head held high as she strutted. J’dol, letting out a loud cheer, jumped and ran ahead of her, launching himself into the lake. Bit and Spazz, his ever present flits, were all too happy to dive in after him.
“Woooo! That feels great!” He yelled out, not caring who heard him. Kayath followed behind, though she simply walked into the cool water, and once she was deep enough she began her exercises once again, her great, orange body standing out against the crystal clear waters.
