This was it. The day had finally come. S’val grinned as he scanned the wide expanse of the training grounds. The Fall Gather was in full swing and it was time to start one of the main events. The Jr Weyrleader had been eagerly awaiting this day for some time now, after all it wasn’t very often you got appointed by the Weyrleaders to conduct flight try outs with the Weyrs oldest weyrlings as well as the other full grown Riders of Trelis. Already a sparse few gather folk had taken to the stands that had been set up in anticipation of the try outs and S’val glanced curiously at the individuals as he passed by. It was still early but perhaps they were just as eager as he was and just wanted a good seat for the soon to be entertainment. Yes, that seemed like a logical enough explanation to him.
As he crossed the arena Solarith had risen from his position on the Weyr Heights to lazily glide down to where His walked, gently landing beside the man and doing his best not to disrupt the few gather folk sitting in the stands. There’s no need for worry, S’valMine. The man looked up at the towering bronze that now walked beside him and quickly shook his head at his dragon’s words. “I’m not worried Sol, not really. Just a little nervous maybe… for the sake of the weyrlings that is. I’m not sure how they’ll perform and if some will panic and end up hurting themselves or someone else.”
Before long the pair found themselves at the end of the arena where a large tent had been set up. This was where his fellow Wingleaders would join him when it came time for the try outs to begin. Glancing around the tent, S’val wrung his hands as he quickly looked over everything. A line of padded chairs had been set up inside the tent, between each chair was a small side table that held fruit, klah, and parchment so everyone could keep track of who they were selecting to join the ranks of their individual wings. Yes, everything seemed to be in order and S’val breathed a small sigh of relief as he left the tent and stepped up beside his large companion. Briefly his eyes flicked to the sky and the dark clouds rolling away in the far distance. They seemed to be a long ways off so maybe, just maybe, he wouldn’t have to worry about riders getting struck by lightening. The bronze rider groaned and scrubbed tiredly at his face. The Weyrleaders were most definitely going to have his head on a platter if that ever happened.
Solarith rumbled lightly, clearly amused at His’ thoughts. Everything will be as it should. The young ones will have to learn to be on their own without the guidance of the Weyrling Masters at some point, yes? S’val nodded quietly at his companions words. Why was that dragon always right?! “Go on and call them Solarith. First the Weyrleaders, then your bronze wing brothers, finally the Weyrling Masters. Then call to Loraketh’s weyrlings and the rest of the Trelis riders.”
Come everyone, the time has come for wing placement. Mine is requesting the presence of Yours for this event. Come as well young weyrlings of every clutch, especially those of my Queen Lorakeths. This is your time to show what you’ve learned so hurry on and don’t be late! It will no doubt be marked against you. S’val frowned as he playfully swatted the scarred face that was hovering beside him. “You couldn’t do it a bit more formal, could you?” Solarith merely rumbled in response before lifting his head to keep an eye out for the arriving dragons and Theirs. Already he could see the dark blue form of Mideth and R’xth slowly making their way over. S’val took a deep breath and straightened out his black and bronze flecked gather tunic. “So it begins…”
OoC|| Alright so it has begun! Right now I'm just going to lay down some points so people know what to expect and this doesn't turn into a hot mess. I|| The call has been sent out to gather. II|| Once you reach the arena feel free to mingle with fellow riders, just remember you are being 'graded' from the moment you step into the arena. III|| After most everyone gathers up, we'll pull numbers out of a hat (so to speak) to see who gets to go first for the round of solo flights. After that the order of who goes will be randomly thrown together by me. IV|| After the solo rounds we may do some group displays too but I haven't committed fully to this idea yet. >.< V|| Everyone will gather up front and the Wingleaders will announce who they will like for their wing and which position the member will fill. VI|| Have fun with it guys and feel free to give S'val a panic attack, he's already on edge as it is. =D FYI|| This is open to ALL graduated Riders and flying weyrlings! Sorry Mae and Istan kiddos. Feel free however to grab a seat and watch the events!

"Do we really have to go?" J'dol asked out loud as he walked up to Kayath, who had landed in the nearby field since she was much too large to land in the busy gather now. Apparently she hadbrought her harness as well. Of course! Kayath replied, sounded offended that Hers would even dream of skipping out on an event that could bring her attention. We MUST go! Our future depends on it Mine, and I will not let you get in the way of my adoring audience seeing me! J'dol sighed but took the harness from her anyway and buckled up. Mounting up, he revelled in the feeling of flight, as he always did, after she took off. It just seems silly for us to go Kayath, He said as the quickly landed near his room so he could quickly grab up his riding gear. He didn't know if they needed it or not, but it was better to be safe then sorry. We're going to be in the queen's wing. There's no point in being there. We probably won't even be allowed to try out. He paused briefly to wave to U'wa and Peniath, who had pulled up beside them shortly after they took off again. Kayath offered a small nod of greeting to her green sister as well. Even if they don't allow us to go, which i doubt because everyone wants to see me, we will get to watch. That in itself is reason to go, I was growing bored. J'dol gave the Topaz a loving pat as she moved to descend, and braced for landing. She had gotten a lot smoother at backwinging, the bracing was more habit than anything now.
He dismounted, flashing a smile and a wave to R'xth and his blue before stepping over to where S'val was. "J'dol and Kayath reporting, Sir." He spoke strongly, with a proper, if somewhat cocky, salute. He still wasn't incredibly fond of all this rank junk, but his lessons with Trelis' Weyrwoman had at least forced the habit onto him. Kayath offered her own respects to her superior. Greetings, Junior King. Once pleasantries had been dealt with, he moved back to where the already present Weyrlings had gathered and waved at them.
U'wa was nervous and a bit excited about what was going to be happening soon. Peniath was too it seemed, as the green had barely been able to stand still long enough for him to put on the riding harness. he was already changed into his gear for this, having been back in his room to put his new kitten Kour into a basket for safe keeping while he was at the gather. Seeing Kayath's form in the air, he quickly hopped up on the green's back and had her take off after them. They returned the greeting and followed behind the larger pair to the grounds. Oooooh this is so exciting Mine! I wonder what will happen... I hope its fun! i want to do gooooood! He smiled warmly as he dismounted, and much like J'dol offered his own salute and greeting to the Junior Weyrleader.
"H-Hello S-S'val Sir!" He spoke louder than he meant to, his nerves getting the better of him. Once done with that, he quickly skirted back to the other Weyrlings. "G-good luck... everyone," He mumbled to the gathered group. He looked over the group quietly as the realization that they wouldn't all be together for much longer. He had really grown fond of these people... and getting used to a wing of new people... scary... Beside him, Peniath merely rumbled in amusement before greeting her siblings. Look U'waMine. SisterYours is in the crowd. The greenweyrling looked up, smiling warmly as he saw Yufa.
[[OOC: On the off chance that anyone wants to interact the following characters are attending to watch: -Weyrlings Yufa/Braymoth, Z'nil/Anuth, V'koi/Panyth -CM Ad'os and Soheath ]]

Avirith had been ready for this all day it seemed. Truthfully, Ara was too busy thinking about those lost to think of those still here. There were a few that didn't come back from their betweening lesson. Mostly they were greens or blues, but still. The greenrider wasn't happy about it being one herself. That's the way of things MineLove. Don't worry, we have other things to do. The green was right, again. Sighing, Ara mounted and pushed her hair from her shoulders. She'd changed into riding gear not long ago, already she missed the dress she had had on.
Nearby, she saw that Istan Rider-no Trelis Rider now- also mount her green. Panille, even though she was a weyrlingmaster too, still needed to try out for a wing. As did Ara really, though she was there to support her weyrlings as well. The greenrider looked around, smiling and waving to a nearby wingrider she knew. Come on AraMine. Time to go now. She nodded her head, looking around one final time to see Inali mounting Loraketh as well. It seemed the Weyrwoman was coming to observe them all too.
Zoranille had a hard enough time keeping Yazhith under control in the best of times. So, it was amazing that for once the green was speechless. She couldn't even answer because she was so nervous. It did make sense though. "Don't worry, everything will be fine." The green still stood frozen, not quite comfortable. They flew off nonetheless. Once landing, Zora waved hello to her older sister Akilu, but didn't go over. Instead, she went over to S'val. "Hi. Zoranille and Weyrling Green Yazhith here sir."
My Lady, it seems that even the holdsfolk are coming to watch. That's a good sign. Loraketh rumbled, amused with the little people below that ran to watch the try-outs. The Gold looked back at the males, giving the bronzes a thoughtful look, then swept to include the browns as well. It didn't go unnoticed by Inali. Checking out your suitors? The Queen didn't answer except for a sensual purr like sound. Laughing, the Werywoman leaned over the metallic neck to kiss her hide. I love you.
Loraketh warbled back, and I you. The Gold's whispered voice rang louder in her mind then, and Inali smiled. They touched down not long after, the dragoness arching her neck proudly as she looked around. Hello Solarith. Inali raised her eye brows at the flirtacious tone the Gold took. Well, well. Getting bored with Stallorth dear? It was teasing, and the Gold knew it, but she still snorted and nudged Inali off to S'val. I can speak to my Kings if I wish. There is nothing wrong with saying hello.
The Gold looked back over her shoulder, glancing around the Bowl before turning back. Inali patted the Queen's hide, smiling gently. "Don't worry love. I'm not acusing you of anything, I know you care about them all." Loraketh nodded her head and glanced over at her Topaz daughter that was already here. Greetings Kayath. Fly well my little one. That goes for you all, fly well and fly high. She reached out to all of her surviving young then. It had pained her when some didn't come back from their trip between.
Moving over to S'val, Inali waved. "Hello S'val. Nice day for a try-out. I was thinking I'd watch the two Sub-Queen for right now. Due to the conditions we've been having...the Lightning Strikes haven't betweened except for just a few days ago. So, it should be a flying only try-out for them. Just as a basis, T'rian's already said that he'll have them try-out for real next turn. Alyara's said that they'll also be doing a short show for us with some 'drill' they've been learning. Simple things, but something to make them feel accomplished."
She smiled, the it fell and she sobered a bit. "Perhaps we can acknowledge those that have passed recently in the betweening lesson? I know deaths like that are common...but still."
(Ooc: All my other characters are there watching. N'kron and Ildardeth are there as well trying out...I couldn't bring myself to kill them off, but they're NPC's used more in plot than anything else now.)

T'rian shook his heasd and laughed at his large bronze. You are evil you know that!? The large bronze in question just crooned, and rumbled with laughter. Come T'rianMine, the tryouts are starting. Stallorth knelt down, and waited until His was situated on his back before taking to the sky. He decided to just fly over to the training grounds, instead of going between. He would get there quick enough without the cold experiance. T'rian smiled when he saw the amount of people already gathered around to see what would happen. He waved at the more familier faces he saw there, and was glad when Stallorth angled down so that he would land near Loraketh and Inali. Good job buddy. The large male snorted at his rider's comlement. Of course he did a good job. He's been flying for four turns, and knew how to land where and when he wanted to. He crooned as he landed beside his mate. Greetings everyone. And good afternoon to you my dear. He smiled broudly, and attempted to give Inali a big hug. He then turned his attention to the Junior Weyrleader. He saluted the man before offering his hand to him. He was offering to shake the mans hand. He would have greeted him the way he greeted his closer friends, but he had never had much interaction with the man until he became Junior Weyrleader. He smiled and nodded at him befure turning to see whom else was there. Greetings Solarith. Stallorth nodded his head in greetings to the larger male. He then turned and crooned softly at his mate. He reached out to gently rub her neck with his muzzle before turning, and watching as the other weyrlings showed up, ready and waiting for thier turn in the spot light. He remembered the day when he himself joined his first wing, and the excitment he had felt that day. He rustled his wings in anticipation.
