Name Yanoya
PronunciationYuh-noy-yuh
Age 19 Turns
Season Born in Summer
Gender Female
Sexuality Unknown
Appearance Intensive brown eyes with a slight green tint are rather disconcerting to look at as they seem to bore right through the person who dares to look at them, an inner fire apparent in them. Her long, curly hair is most commonly tied tightly in a braid and secured with a head band to keep it away from her eyes. It just won’t due to have a warrior and marksmen with hair to impede their vision. She has high cheek bones and a rather angular face, though not long or oval, but heart shaped.
She isn’t entirely thin, having some bulk of muscle on her. She commonly holds her head high, almost seeming prideful. Always seeming alert. Her jaw is often set, showing her stubborn nature. Her nose is shorter, but not entirely small.
Her brown hair frames her skin which is neither entirely pale nor tan, but is of a middling hue. Her stark brown eyes are almost the same color of her hair, amazingly enough, the deep chocolate brown becoming entirely a color that could describe her.
Her body has shape to it, but, due to her rough upbringing and training as a skilled fighter, warrior, and hunter, she has plenty of muscle which is covered by her riding gear, which lacks any kind of decoration, being sleek and well made. It cost her quite a bit and a lot of work, but, well, with her lifestyle, you learn to save for those… necessary luxuries.
Personality Calculating, intelligent, cold. She is not the kind of person to come up and give someone a hug. She is not the kind of person to show her feelings. Not overtly at least. She is however, just aloof enough to inspire curiosity. Her brash nature and tomboy attitude are often brusque and irritating combinations to most females and even to some males who might, otherwise, find her attractive. Not that she really cares.
Oh? So men think their great? She’ll bring you low and bring you low fast. She is a fighter and a good one at that with wit, intelligence and skill on her side. She is not afraid to use it either. She has quickly become known for her ability to outdo most males.
Her serious, detached expression hides behind it an ever moving mind that is focused on one large problem at a time and easily taken to another thing, though shows difficulty in switching back right away. This trait makes some think, in conversation, that she is vain and self-centered, only caring to talk about what it is that she cares to talk about.
Yanoya has never been a gossip. She has never been one to care about the males around her or, for that matter, the females, often making her even further a mystery. A person is a person is a person to her. What else would you suppose they were? Or that’s what she has thought up to this point.
Despite all her flaws, Yanoya does have her redeeming qualities, such as her calm head in dangerous situations and her ability to appear sincere, honest, and completely in agreeance with things that may be in the best interest of others, but she herself may not like. She is very good at talking her way out of situations when need be, making her a good liar, which is not a particularly positive trait.
She has the will to do what is needed or what is right-even at risk of herself. She will never stand idly by and watch people be harmed or harm each other. It simply is not right. She has a tendency to become angry or upset with those who do. She will jump headlong into a fight for whoever just might be in need.

History
It was 19 Turns ago when a lovely baby was plopped into the arms of her Trader mother as they traveled. She cried and screamed for the longest while… until her mother’s soft songs sang with her little green flitters calmed her. It was the flitters really, though. They fascinated her. She loved them. They were special. And growing up until the age of 1 Turn… She would continue to become attached to her parent’s flitters.
However, once their caravan was raided, things in her life would change forever, leaving her in an entirely different kind of home. Renegades and troublemakers living in a small settlement on the Southern Continent did not make for good parents… but they did make for good instructors in fighting and hunting. To think that, as a turn old, she had wound up here, with this band of… characters. It wasn’t so bad. However, most of them were males who lived in various holds. They just came here to conduct… business. Is it any wonder she turned out how she did?
She spent time traveling with her father, a young man by name of Yorrisan who named her for himself. He had been married, but he had no great affinity for his wife who had died shortly after their first child had been born and the child followed suit no more than a week after. He wasn’t the kind you might see as a father, but, he took in the child when her parents were left for dead after the attack of their caravan. He, being a trained fighter, quickly started to teach her, starting as young as she was with some very basic things that were, perhaps, more like a game to her. Her chores even became that way.
When she was older and he took her with him on raids and the like, she learned more overtly and soon proved herself to be capable as both a hunter and a warrior. Her “father” was very pleased with her progress.
Yanoya grew up from young toddler to lovely woman in his care. She had no memories of her real parents and, to this day, does not know the truth of the matter. However, she keeps the secrets of her father’s less than… well, good, “business” ventures to herself, including those on the Southern Continent which started when she was younger, though they were considerably more treacherous at the time. Traders. Traders always attracted her father and his associate’s attention. He had often been going on business and the growing Yanoya was becoming very surprised that he had not been caught already.
Yanoya never showed much interest in men, even when she was in her teens. They were people. She never showed interest in women either. Instead, she seemed to become rather obsessed with learning more about as much as she could-especially fighting, tactics, and hunting. She was never the kind of girl to wear dresses and talk about boys. If she could have chosen, she would have chosen to become a guard. However, that wasn’t something allowed to her.
At one point, when she was at a Hold with her father, she would find herself being searched to Trelis Weyr. She had recently sailed home and, still packed, it took very little effort to take what little she had and go to the Weyr.
It was just before the storm hit, at the time of the gather, that she arrived at Trelis and, not only that, but she was visiting the hold and her father who was there with some of his crew as Traders as well as to see his daughter. It was when the storm hit that she was separated from him at the time… She does not know what became of him, but finds no one to blame but Pern itself, though she feels little anger. She is convinced her father is still alive and will continue to until proven otherwise. Those critically injured are always or should always be first priority.
