Name B'den (Bryden before Impression)
Pronunciation bih-DEN (BRIGH-dehn)
Age 19 turns
Season Born in Fall, 179th turn of Interval
Gender Male
Sexuality Heterosexual
Appearance B'den always tries to appear prim and proper, all his clothes neat and clean, and tailor-made to fit his slim form. When in motion he is graceful and walks quickly as though he is always in a hurry, but when standing or sitting, his back is always rigidly straight. His face is oval, tending towards squarish, with striking features and a large, aquiline nose.
His eyes are narrow and pale brown in color, though depending on how the light hits them, they may appear more golden than brown. His skin is naturally a pale cream that tans well, though it typically remains pale since he spends most of his free time indoors, and he has few scars or other physical blemishes on his body. His hair is dark brown in color, thin and fine and soft, almost feathery in texture, but always neatly combed and kept just a few inches long at most.
Personality B'den has always had a particular fascination with history and reads pretty much anything he can get his hands on, no matter how dry and boring it may seem. Knowledge is power, to his mind, and you never know when some dry fact you found in the records may come in handy. Fortunately, he has a very good memory for what he's read.
Unsurprisingly, B'den is extremely ambitious and eager to prove himself. Thanks to his father's prodding, he aims to reach the top of whatever career he chooses, whether it's in the Harper Hall or a Weyr as a dragonrider. Hard-working and dedicated, he gets his tasks done quickly and efficiently. He holds himself up to high standards, and though he rarely disappoints himself, he holds everyone else up to those same standards, and he isn't accustomed to giving leeway, which means he often gets frustrated if someone works slower than he does. He is a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes he would rather wear himself out doing every little thing his own way rather than rely on others.
While he used to be pretty accepting with a tendency to take things at face value, since he broke away from his father he has become a bit less trusting and he prefer to form his own unbiased opinions as best he can. He can be a cunning, shrewd person in his attempts to gather as much power as he can, whether its in the form of wealth or influence or a dragon of his own. He is also generous, though, and he thinks nothing of using the power he has to assist others who ask for his help. The opinions of others--particularly his superiors--is always on B'den's mind, and he takes care to see that nobody has anything to complain about concerning his behavior. He is usually outgoing if not particularly friendly, but he is extremely polite and well-mannered. He is plenty good at networking and making acquaintances and alliances, but when it comes to true friendship, he's somewhat less experienced--the same is true for romantic relationships. He tends to avoid close relationships. Unlike his father, he is a romantic daydreamer and is holding out for that one true love, but at the same time, he would probably be too busy with his other work to recognize it when it comes.
Family (if any) Father: Bryterik, Master Harper
Mother: Gedeina, Holder
No siblings (that he knows of)
Location Harper Hall, then Telgar Weyr, now Trelis Weyr
Rank Weyrling/Harper Journeyman
History Bryden was born when a then-journeyman harper seduced a local holder girl and got her with child. They had no relationship beyond that, and it was a few months after Bryden's birth that Bryterik realized he had a son. The girl, Gedeina, came to him tearfully with her child--a recent sickness had devastated most of her family and neighbors and she feared she would no longer be able to take of the baby on her own. Bryterik managed to convince her to hand their son over to his care so the boy would get a proper education in the Harper Hall. Once his father was promoted to a Master Harper a few turns later and they returned to the Harper Hall, Bryden never saw his mother again.
Bryterik was infamously resentful of the dragonriders and often spoke out against them. Whether it was from a misplaced sense of a jealousy or fear or something else, Bryden never knew and never really questioned it; he was raised on the rhetoric that draonriders were lazy, greedy people who would be the downfall of Pern, and for the first fourteen turns of his life, he parroted his father's words about the dragons.
Having always planned for Bryden to follow in his own footsteps, his father made sure he was entered into an apprenticeship at the Harper Hall as soon as he turned eleven. Having had a fascination with the records from an early age, Bryden did not mind this, even though he showed no particular talent at the craft. Even though his overall performance was average, Bryden worked hard and developed a particularly good skill with the stringed instruments, and he strove to do his best and make his father proud.
For the first few turns of his apprenticeship, he accepted his father's views on life without question, and it was not uncommon for him to get into fights with visiting riders--or, more often, their weyrbrats. His turn-around was gradual--there was no single great epiphany, but over time he began to pay more attention to the riders and dragons themselves and listened to what other people had to say, and he began to change his mind. Bryden realized that perhaps his father wasn't right after all. After his fourteenth birthday, he stopped getting into fights with dragonriders--instead, he started arguing with his father more and more. Neither was willing to listen to the other and Bryterik saw what his son was saying as nothing less than a betrayal.
Bryden very well may have walked the tables earlier than eighteen if the two of them had learned to cooperate, but as it was, he was promoted to a journeyman harper after seven turns as an apprentice. By then, he was so fed up with dealing with his father that he requested to be sent away from the hall immediately. Just to twist the knife in further, it was suggested he go to Telgar Weyr, and Bryden readily agreed. Shortly after he arrived at the Weyr, he was searched by one of the blueriders. Though still a bit hesitant, he finally agreed and stood as a candidate for the next clutch on the sands. He came away from that clutch unImpressed, and after an unwelcome visit from his father, he requested to be transferred to another Weyr clear on the other side of Pern. Thus, he ended up at Trelis to stand for the Senior Queen's clutch. He's still not quite sure what to think about the new colors, but he is open-minded and willing to take whatever he can get.
Loraketh's clutch hatched late at night, and Bryden witnessed the killing of one newly-Impressed candidate and the mauling of another hatchling by Trelis's first Blacklight, before Kohenkyoth found him at the back of the crowd and demanded to be fed. Though the green was certainly not what he had expected when he decided to stand, she is as ambitious and eager to get ahead as he is, and he doesn't regret it in the least.

Name: Kohenkyoth
Pronunciation: Koh-hen-key-awth
Rank: Green
Size: 24.5 Feet
Color Codes:
Base: 849e46
Marking 1: c1e19b
Marking 2: 466118
Appearance:
Kohenkyoth will one day be among the larger greens in the Weyr. However, despite her size she is an extraordinarily slender creature, if a bit oddly shaped. Her hind thighs seem large compared to the rest of her, a trait that will remain her entire life. Her hind legs will allow her to make swift, powerful take offs, allowing her to be in the air much faster than many of her brethren. Her midsection, however, is so thin that she almost looks malnourished. She has long limbs, wings included, and will be quite agile in the air, able to quickly outdistance her sisters in straight flight. Her maneuverability, however, is lacking, and she will have some troubles with the harder tricks aerial tricks. On the ground, she moves almost awkwardly, hindered by her large hind legs.
Her hide is a soft, olive green with light hints of yellow on her otherwise solid hide. A pale green marks the tips of her wing fingers, head knobs and tail. The toes of her front feet are dipped in the pale green, and the same colour can be seen up to the knees on her hind legs. An almost mane-like marking rinks the area where her head and neck meet, and trails down to blend in with her pale belly. She has three sections of darker green on her body. The first and most obvious are the almost sleeve-like markings on her front legs, reaching from wrist to elbow. On her thigh is a marking reminiscent of her own egg, two dots with curved tails seem to chase each other around on both thighs. A thin line of dark green lines the bottom of her eyes. Her claws are a striking black against the light markings on her feet.
Personality:
If there is one thing Kohekyoth does not tolerate, it is incompetence. A bronze in green hide, Kohenkyoth believes she can do anything she sets her mind to, and she’ll do it better than the one everyone believes is more qualified. She’s a hard worker, highly intelligent for a green, is able to easily grasp difficult concepts and has an excellent memory. It will be rare to see her doing anything other than training or learning in some way; even her sleeping hours seem to be spent with training on the brain. She is the type of dragon who never needs something repeated twice (and if she does she’ll deny it with all her heart). In most situations, Kohenkyoth is calm, cool, and collected and it takes a fair bit of effort to make her lose her composure. A proud dragoness, Kohenkyoth has high standards and even higher goals. She dreams of leading others and proving that greens are not just small incapable dragons. As far as flirting goals, she will only do it if she believes it will help her move up the ladder, but otherwise tends to think of males is useless distractions.
Mind-Voice:
We will not succeed by hanging back, B'den. We must move forward with pride and confidence. Do not let the doubts of others hamper your goals.
Though her voice is definitely feminine, the tone is deeper and more masculine than one might expect from a green. Always full of confidence, pride, and determination, her voice never wavers and never fails. Most of the time her voice is calm but strong, easily heard without being intrusive or loud. During moments of extreme emotion, the volume of her voice may increase, but the core sound of it never changes. Even in the best of times, Kohenkyoth is not a very chatty dragon, preferring to keep her words, few as they are, to her rider. Conversations with other dragons are rarely started by her, but she will answer to anyone who speaks to her, though her responses are more on the blunt side.
Why:
Many will say I have standards and goals that are much too 'high' for a green. Too bad for them. I will overcome adversity and these prejudices and prove how capable I am. I cannot do this alone however... I need someone to stand by me, and I believe that is you. I like your ambition. I think we can become a powerful pair, don't you?
