Name Amysar (A'sar) Pronunciation phonetic
Age 13 (and a half!) turns Season Born in Fall
Gender Male Sexuality Straight
Appearance As young as he is, Amysar still shows no sign of being either tall or handsome in future. He is short and stocky in build, with heavy shoulders and a solid look to him. As he grows older he hopes to be tall, but this seems unlikely. Amysar is already shorter than most other boys his age, and unless he hits a growth spurt at some point will probably continue to be shorter. He has thick, unmanageable orange-red hair, which he insists on leaving long despite the fact that it insists on standing more or less on end. Sar's eyes are very light green-gray in color and very pretty, although he tends to scowl furiously most of the time. He primarily dresses in oversized clothing of any color and design - he hopes that by wearing larger clothing he will look taller.
Personality Being the younger brother, and a bastard, is hard on a kid. Amysar shows this in every movement and most things he says. His life, while not difficult, has certainly been full of people who pick on shorter kids with only one parent. Therefore, Sar has grown from a sweet, happy baby into a small, fierce, argumentative boy. He never smiles, and seems very solemn at first meeting. A brief conversation will unearth the fact that Sar has an opinion about everthing. Also, of course, that he's willing to fight people who don't agree with him. Which is, when anyone listens, pretty much all the time. Sar's upbringing has been less strict than it could have been. Most of what he thinks is that as long as the world goes right for him, everyone else can go to hell. Despite the fact that, until recently, fate has not been on his side at all, he insists on this view. One would think he was spoiled, although honestly he hasn't been. He's more what one would call a wild child. He is short on major talents and gifted on pure mental instinct. Most of his mother's attempts to make him any kind of crafter or skilled hand failed. This is mostly due to Amysar's caustic personality, but also to the fact that he is bad at pretty much everything he tries to do. The idea that he might impress a dragon was shocking to everyone, including himself. But there it is. Maybe he'll manage it and maybe not.
Family (if any) Techymar (harper; mother), Sol'vki (brownrider; father), Solovik (older brother, harper apprentice)
Location Sar is from Apollo hold originally, where his mother and brother still live. Rank Dragon Candidate
History Born the bastard son of a harper woman and a brownrider. In fact, Amysar, as he was called after his mother (apparently), is the younger bastard son..his older brother, Solovik, (named for his..father?), is older than him. They share the same parents, but, for reasons which neither boy has ever been able to find out, his parents never married despite their two children. Solovik, apparently, took his mother's dark-haired looks, because Amysar came out a small, already red-headed baby, and has neither grown out of being short or managed to get a different hair color. Apparently his father's brother looked a bit similar to Sar, but none of his immediate family resembles the boy at all. Therein was his main problem with life. When Sar grew older, he could play with the hold's other boys, but these games tended to turn into brawls. Fighting was unfortunately one of the few things he turned out to be good at. He was teased a great deal when he was very young..mostly with silly things ("you must have been adopted"), and occasionally with the sort of argument that would bring his older brother into the fight ("your mother is a whore", etc.) He grew up close to his brother, until Solovik went away to try his hand at being a harper. This left Amysar, aged ten, to fight his own battles and fail epically at everything else. It was discovered, over the next three years, that Sar could not sing a note, was horrible with animals, and could barely read. After a while his mother sort of gave up on him, and left him to his own devices. This mostly involved fighting. During one of his brawls (which, apparently, he started himself), a dragonrider happened to pass by and broke up the fight. Next thing Amysar knew, he was headed off to some weyr on the back of a big blue dragon. His mother was slightly shocked that her violent little boy would be allowed anywhere near a dragon, much less around eggs before they hatched. Sar has been hanging around the weyr for six months or so, attempting to impress a dragon and more or less failing spectacularly. However, he doesn't really have too many other choices in life, so he sticks around and hopes.

Dragon/Wher Preference He can impress whatever color is lying around. I think Sar would be so shocked that a dragon might show an interest in him anyway that he wouldn't care. As for mauling..go for it. Beat some sense into the kid. But don't maim him for life.
