The sun was just rising over The Island's beaches, and one in particular was being packed this morning. Not by people or dragons though, but by firelizards. It was time for a hatching! The flits of every color hummed and trilled, adoring the shaking eggs in the nests along the beach. There were three nests near to one another here, one Gold nest and two Greens.
The green mothers had long ago left to find food, for themselves of all creatures! However, the old Gold whose nest also resided here was guarded cautiously by the metallic Queen and her males. Bronze, brown, blue, and was that even a young epidote as well? The green and brown male chittered to the older kings, subs and fighters. Yes, he was one of the new colors, proving that his kind was not a fluke of a single mother.
The first of the Gold's eggs cracked, and a brown male tipped out. Crooning, he looked up at his brethren and flapped his wet wings. At the green nests, the eggs were cracking as well, but these were to be crossed by some people on this morning. Two people to be exact, and in the four eggs there together between the nests, a bonded was waiting for them each.
Which will you choose?
Aki: 1 or 2 from nest 1? Jill: 1 or 2 from nest 2?

Talvi was taking a break from the Weyr, and her dragon. She just needed a little time to herself, and she was glad that Frenath had wanted some alone time also. She smiled and shook her head. Her dragon was so much like herself, and there were times that that fact got on her nerves. So in a way, she just needed some time away from herself. So she had decided to go for a walk on the beach. It was fall, and being that they were on a tropical island, it was still pretty warm.
Talvi sighed as she continued walking. She wasn't really paying much attention to things around her, but her attention was soon caught by the noise of some wild firelizards. She cautiously got closer to where the sound was coming from. She gasped when she saw what looked like two, unguarded clutches. She wondered if they were actually green clutches, or if something had scared the mother off. She looked around, and wondered if she should go and take a closer look.
Eventually curiosity won, and Talvi cautiously approached the first clutch. There were two eggs, and she wondered which one she wanted. She didn't want to take one, and then leave the other to die, but she didn't know when, or if, the mother would be coming back. She bit her lip as she tried to decide. She looked back and forth between the two eggs. It was a hard decision, but she finally chose the first egg. She smiled as she picked up one of the eggs.
Talvi smiled happily as she waited for it to hatch. She wondered what would come from the egg. She didn't really care, but she wondered if she would get a green like Frenath. Either way, it didn't matter. She would take care of whatever came from this egg. She would love the creature just as much as she loved Frenath. She continued to walk, only now, her pace wasn't hurried. It was more relaxed, and calm. That's when she realized that she would need some food for the hatchling, and started looking.
((OOC: She picks egg 1))

Edit: The little egg tapped against its shell as it suddenly felt its weight shift. No longer was it on solid ground! Oh, how it hated this! Oh no, no, no. It didn't want this one bit. Hissing came from inside the egg as Talvi cradled it in her palm. One chip at a time the red and brown shell came apart, and a medium green head popped out. It was a fairly decent sized green, and a mixture of light and dark olive green tones, her eyes swirled as she stared at the person. Sending a picture of the ground, and her on it, she hissed. She didn't like height! She didn't like it at all! Pushing her feet and back against the shell to pop it open, the green finally slid out and flexed her extra long tail. Yes, extra long tail, slim body....and no wings. The flit checked her back side once more to make sure she was right. Yep, she was. Where most firelizards had wings, her back was beautiful and bare. Maybe that's why she didn't like heights? Oh well! She made up for that in speed and attitude. Personality: Feisty, spirited, terrified of heights, doesn't mind biting or snapping at someone she doesn't like. Appearance: She's a very slim, and elongated green. Made up of olive tones, it looks somewhat like snake skin with how the colors blend and twist together. They sort of glisten too, but not in a metallic way. When she rises, she will run like a wher does.

Talvi smiled when she remembered that she had packed some food for lunch. She quickly ran over to where she had left it, and was glad to see it was still there. She jumped slightly when she heard the egg hissing. Her eyes widened as she watched the red and brown shell break apart. She smiled at the green head that appeared from within the shell. She was gorgeous, and just like her Frenath, she was a green. That made Talvi smile, now she had two greens.
Talvi giggled when she saw the picture of the firelizard on the ground. Though, she had noticed that there was something missing, she just wasn't sure at that moment. So giggled, and wondered why she wanted to be on the ground. She jumped a little when she saw that her new firelizard had no wings. She gulped, and gently set the little lizard on the ground. She knew that there were new mutations to the dragons and firelizards, but she didn't know that it could affect the firelizard's wings.
Talvi wasn't sure if this new mutation would affect the dragons, but she hopped it wouldn't. Oh well, at least your safe. She smiled at the little female, and started feeding her fish. Now that the green was on the ground, she happily took the cut up bits of fish she was handed. You know what, I think I'll call you Dafina. Dafina crooned quietly between bites of food. Talvi giggled and smiled. Her new green was going to be a hand full alright.

Jillalene wandered along the beach without her usual group. It was oddly comforting after the past weeks. The silence that came from not being with your dragon and the mental images of the flit or other partners. The cries of dragonsong could be heard from a little ways away. There was a green flying.
With a small smile, she shook her head. There was no way she wanted to be anywhere around the corridors of the owners weyr once that was decided. There was always the winner, that was obvious, but the others were not exempt from the lusts of their dragons just because the flier didnt choose them.
She shuddered. Yes it was definitely better to be away from the Weyr today. She smiled when she looked up. There Talvi was, standing over what looked to be two unattended nests, feeding what appeared to be a wingless green firelizzard. Lene smiled and jogged until she was even with them.
"Hey, how are you today?" She asked as she looked over the two eggs in the nest. She smiled, stroking a fingertip over first one, then the other. Hesitating only for a moment, she picked up the second egg, cradling it in her cupped hands.

The ice blue shell immidiately started to shake as it was picked up. Oh! Oh! It was being moved! The being inside crooned, and scrabbled at its prison, desperate for escape. It wanted out! It wanted out now! Hissing came from the shell as it spread its body upward, flexing a blue wing through the opening, but wait! There was brown on that wing too! It didn't matter to the firelizard though, he didn't see his oddity yet. As his head popped through, the blue crooned. Yes! He was a blue, why was His thinking any differently? That's when he noticed the brown on him, though it was only a small amount, and he squeaked. He was no new color! He was a blue, and a perfectly good one! Spreading his wings wide, the firelizard chittered at his flightless cousin. Oh, she was without wings! That wasn't good at all. Personality: Happy-go-lucky, Sweet, Gentle, Easily amused, Easily excited or worried. Appearance: This firelizard is not a new color, he's a chimera. When in the egg, his coloring got mutated slightly, so though he is a blue, he has some brown as well. He ranks as a fighter as well, though will be the size of a smaller Epidote or Brown.

Talvi looked up when she saw someone coming towards her out of the corner of her eye. She smiled and waved at the young weyrling she recognized as one of the young girls who had impressed one of the blue hatchlings from Maelath's clutch. Greetings young one. I am doing well, though, I must say, I am glad that it isn't Frenath flying today. She knew the weyrling wasn't that much younger than her, but she had been bonded to her own dragon for four turns, and she felt much older than she truly was.
Talvi smiled as she watched Jillalene pick out an egg of her own. This is Dafina by the way. As far as I know she's fine, but...I'm just not sure about her not having wings. The worry that she felt about her firelizard was very obvious in her voice was she spoke. Dafina on the other hand had no worries about herself not having wings. She quite enjoyed the fact really. She crooned as Hers fed her some more bits of fish, and just ignored the other human.
Talvi sighed and shook her head at Dafina, but smiled when she saw what the weyrling had impressed. He is very handsome. She nodded her head at the strange blue flit as she spoke. Dafina hissed menacingly at her cousin when he chittered at her. So what if she didn't have wings! She was perfectly fine the way she was! Talvi smiled and quickly fed the wingless firelizard some more fish. Dafina growled but took the food eagerly. She didn't want that cousin of her's getting any!

Jillalene smiled nodding. It would definitely be a pain when Eulurth was old enough to chase. She couldn't immagine what would happen when her blue would go all 'he man' for a flight. The only people she'd seen so far were the same sex as their flying or chasing dragon. She wasn't quite sure how exactly it would work itself out. She had picked up the little egg and it had started trembling almost immediately.
"Yes, I don't know myself how i'll like it when Eulurth is old enough to chase. I actually dont even know how that would work to be honest with you."
She couldnt quite quash the giggle that escaped her as the croon was followed by hissing noises. This little one was going to be a treasure. She was sure Akiko would like him, she liked everyone. Except for eulurth for some reason. she only liked to annoy him, which made their living situation somewhat annoying to be honest. Maybe this little one would be just what it's sister needed to divert her more devious energies toward her big brother. She smiled at that and looked down as the older girl started to introduce her to something, presumably a firelizzard named Dafina... And almost dropped her egg due to partially her suprise, but mostly because the little thing was getting more adamant that it was time to come out. Sitting in the sand she cradled the egg in her lap to be safer before she let her gaze stray to the other firelizzard again. No wings? The little green was adorable, but jillalene worried as well before clamping down on it. Mutations, while uncommon, were known to happen and it looked like this little one was a recipient. She made her voice kind and soothing to help Talvi out. The green rider was clearly worried, but in every way, the flit acted like all the others she'd ever seen just hatched. Hungry.
"She's lovely. And I'm certain she'll do just fine without wings. It doesn't seem to hinder her in any way that I can tell..." She broke off as she felt, rather than heard the first crack. The blue wing nudged her thumb and she readjusted her hold on the egg. The wing was blue, and she couldnt help a smile thinking of her luck. Now she had a big blue and a little bl-... blue? She tilted her head and looked at the wing askance. mostly blue, but...... there was brown there. As he, yes he, escaped the confines of his egg she couldnt help but wonder if he was a new color, but no, he must just have a mutation. She sat patiently while he chittered in worry at the little flightless flit, taking a bit of wrapped fish from her bag that she kept for Akiko.
"I think your name will be Sokai. For the ocean." she smiled as he settled in her lap and took the fish eagerly torn between worry at his minutes older green cousin and the fish His was holding. He was definitely a blue. He puffed up at the compliment Talvi gave and Lene smiled at the wave of happiness he sent to her. "Thank you. I'm Jillalene by the way."
