Eliitra was on her way to visit the Garnet Weyrling from her class when she heard the commotion... yelling and... something else... She was able to watch Iirla run down the hall and into Vl'kan's room. Well... Something was wrong. She walked to the room she ahd run from. "Hey... D'rian...? What's going on?" she asked him, leaning against teh door frame.
She wasn't sure she should be there, but she wanted to make sure that things were alright. And what about Vl'kan... This had to affect him too, but she wouldn't be interupting. Not right now.
She bit her lip and looked at the bronze rider he was two turns her senior adn she didn't think she coudl recall ever talking to him. "You wanna talk about it... Please don't tell me you're leaving. tHe Weyr needs you. Your one of our future leaders, after all." She walked into the room and looked at him with a frown as she watched him, her arms crossed in front of her.
"You're a fool if you think running away is going to fix it... D'rian. Please think straight. She obviously is upset enough. Don't tell me you're going to run over a girl. Why not just learn to love someone else? Someone better for you?" Was she trying to rile him up? Not exactly, but she was trying to do anything to try to keep him from running and leaving the Weyr.
((Sorry is short.))

He had watched her go, quite calmly as a matter of fact. Once Kelath got over his anger at her his more gentlemanly side would be impressed. As soon as she left he let his facade fall and the tears fell silently as he started slamming clothes into his bag. He didn't want to come back. But he knew he had to. The weyr was into something that had never been seen before. New mutations... The old colors coming uP with wholly new characteristics...
From what g'lwein said this girl would be one of the best chances he knew at figuring out what was happening or at least knowing more about it. She was a researche- his musings were cut off. When another feminine voice came to him. She was asking him what was going on... He quickly dried his face and schooled himself back to composure.
As he turned he saw the girl. What was her name??? She was an Istan weyrling... Eliitra! That was the girl's name. " nothing much Eliitra. Just ever changing minds and hearts. ". He gave her one of his 'everything's okay' smiles and pulled the bag tightly closed tossing it onto his table with his riding leathers.
"As a matter of fact, I am leaving. And the weyr has plenty of leaders right now. More ego's than they can handle most days.". He shrugged pulling a chair out for her in case she wanted to sit as he sat down himself and opoured himself some cold water from a pitcher on one of his shelves.
"care for some?". With a sigh he looked up at the girl. Not everyone was supposed to know where he was going and what he was doing. " I'm leaving one way or the other. Does the reason for my choice really mean all that much? I've got some things I need to take care of, this just seems like the perfect time to do them. "
He was perfectly aware he hadn't touched the subject of love. He didn't think that word would ever pass his lips with regulars to himself again.

She came in and sat as he offered her a char. "You know... you can say it. I'm not going to let you get away with a fake smile anymore than I let my classmates. You think you got it rough? Try being an Istan after the Southerners screwed Trelis over." She smiled warmly. "You just lost her to another man. It's alright talk about. I'm not stupid, you know. And you are a fool if you think that you can't ever love again. Takes time."
She nodded. "That'd be great. Imagine... coming up here to visit with some of my fellow Istans to hear all this going on." She clucked her tongue slightly and gave a wry smile before takign a sip. "Hope I'm not upsetting you or anything... Just figure you don't want someone to come in here and tell you everything's going to be alright and that kinda crap."
"Hope you don't plan to go alone, bronzerider. Traveling may not be the smartest thing in the whole world right now. Not with some of the tensions around us rising. And you know that S'vrin is going to be out there. Not to mention Ar'rex. He would have been stupid to return to Southern or to return here. So he is out there and he would gladly cut down anyone from Trelis, I'm sure. Besides that, yeah it matters. If it's for a girl, you're being a little brash. The Weyrs a big place. You don't have to see her if you don't want to, after all." She sighed. "Then again, being a female and an amethyst rider, my opinion doesn't really matter a whole lot, now does it?"
"So... D'rian. When you leaving. Morning, now...?" Either way, she'd already decided, she was going with him because two stood a better chance than one. Besides. Her Nevinth was older than his Kelath.

"Well alright then since it seems you wont be satisfied until i rant and whine like a weyrbrat..." He sat back in his chair and studied her. She was a determined little thing wasn't she? Paired with an amethyst if he wasnt mistaken? He had to fight off the urge to grin. The amethysts were adorable little dragons, but bless them they were so spacy. Going back to the matter at hand...
"I loved her, was going to try to find a way to ask her if she would mind me leaving on an errand for G'lwein and Iinali for a week or two but she was gone. Kelath wanted to fly, and that always helps me think so we do, and who do we see on the beach but Iirla and V'lkan." His knuckles whitened as he clenched the cup in his fist. "The worst part is that i knew. I mean, I had a feeling she had feelings for him, but... Why would she lie to me like that?"
He took a deep breath, counted to three, and once again stopped the tears that approached unbidden. "You're not upsetting me. You just happened to catch me at a very upsetting time." His smile at her this time was a bit weaker, but more genuine. "I am a fool. I still love her shard it. Even after everything she did. Why cant i be angry at her? Or hate her outright? Nooo I gotta still think of her as a very dear friend that i need to protect... Damn you kelath for the changes you started..." He sighed. Before Kelath he didnt have any relationships to anyone. no real friends, no love.
"I had decided to go alone yes. The place im going is somewhere a little further south than southern weyr. G'lwein says there's a forest outside one of the smaller villages. There's a woman there that im supposed to bring back. She could help us understand the mutations or at least to try to. So technically it IS for a girl, just not the one that you're thinking of. Iirla just... makes it easier to leave. " he couldnt help the chuckle as he sat his empty cup back on the table.
"Where'd that come from? Of course your opinion matters. Everyone has one, and im not the sort of man to disreguard completely the opinions of others for silly things like gender or ranking."
He sighed when she asked him when he was leaving. If they'd given him a choice he would have said right now. This very moment. But He had to wait for Iinali's decision.
It wont be for another few weeks if I'm going alone. Iinali decided she wants to give kelath and i more practice in betweening before we leave to make sure we're safe, though g'lwein told her i likely wouldn't be betweening."

"It isn't whining like a weyrbrat, silly wherry," she said with a snort and a small smile, sweeping her hair away from her face.
She gave a soft sigh. "Why would she lie to you? That is an answer I can't give... All I can think is... that she has been afraid of hurting you and has let that fear get the better of her. After all... She has been living in a world of confusion. She likely loved Vl'kan and didn't realize it for some time. They have known each other and been friends longer than the two of you... And then there is S'bel... But... The thing is. There is no excuse for her lying to you, though... bUt I think our young Queenrider needs to learn how to handle confrontation." She sighed. "Sorry... being blunt. Force of habit. While I am being blunt... I should say... it would be best to make her a part of your past... and try to be her friend... after giving yourself time."
"Well... that might not be a brilliant smile, D'rian... but I actually believe that one." She smiled softly at him. "Love is just not that clearcut, my friend. You'll probably still love her for awhile... Maybe a long while... but it'll fade... and a new love can take its place... It just needs to be the right person with the right intent. who really does love you. Who you know well... I know... you knew Iirla well before... but she still kept that part of herself from you. She wasn't being completely open with you. And there is nothing wrong with her being a dear friend or wanting to protect her. Your a bronzerider. It's your job. But it might be good to have a little break from that job."
"Don't think for a second that I'll let you leave this weyr alone on this trip mister bronzerider. This sounds like a very important journey and I want to be a part of it. Besides. What kind of friend would let you go out there after having your heart broken all on your own?" She took another sip and gave a soft sigh, and giving him a smirk.
She grinned at him. "Well... then you will be a very good leader some day. One that I would gladly follow."
"Well... what if you aren't going alone? Already told you... I intend to go with you... whether you want me or not." Her expression was mischievious and her smirk was somewhat amused. "I think at this point... the sooner we leave, sooner we get back, sooner things get sorted... Personally. Besides.... how much Betweening[/] are you going to do on this trip?"
