Pandora mumbled to herself as she walked through the caverns. She really was starting to second guess her decision to stay in the Weyr. The original reason she had decided to stay, was because she didn't have a home in Sollace anymore. But now it seemed like she wouldn't be able to make a home in Trelis either. She had heard about what had happened in the stands the day of the Touching, and wondered how on earth that girl had gotten herself into such a mess.
An evil smirk spread across Pandora’s mouth as she thought about it. It must have been quite the site to see that rider arguing over a weyrling, with another weyrling. She laughed as the image appeared in her head of a full grown man, arguing with a kid. Oh how priceless that must have been. She was thinking out loud because she thought she was alone. Though, in a Weyr, is one person truly ever alone? That is a question that she had often pondered.

“You know, if someone catches you talking you yourself they might just start thinking you’re crazy.” His voice came from a darkened little niche off somewhere to the right. He had been resting, oddly enough as that may have seemed. Very few tended to walk through the caverns so naturally it was one of the best places to go to just relax and get away from the bustle of everyday life.
Leaning against the stone wall, Vl’kan folded his arms and quietly regarded the woman standing in front of him. He must have been quite the sight really. Dark circles hung under his eyes, his hair was in slight disarray, and a fresh bandage wound around his left forearm, stained with a bright crimson streak. Well he was a garnet rider after all. It’s not all glamour and awesomness…well, at least not all the time.
“Also I’d be careful about walking down here by myself. I’ve heard there’s a tunnelsnake den that hasn’t been completely wiped out yet.” He shrugged as he offered the girl the bit of advice, whether she took it or not was her problem.

Pandora quickly spun around to see who it was that had spoken to her. Her eyes narrowed, and one hand now rested on her slim hip. I’m sure if someone were to catch you skulking down here they’d think you were just as crazy. And what business is it of yours if I am talking to myself? Her voice was soft, silky, and not at all unlike the venom of a tunnlesnake. She was quite glad now that she had decided to bring along her swords as well.
Pandora didn’t know this man, and it made her feel a lot more relaxed to have the sharpened blades tied to her sides. Not that it is any business of mine, but you might want to think of cleaning yourself once in a while. Again, not the nicest person in the Weyr, but at least this time she did TRY to be a little friendly about it. Whether or not he could tell was beyond her, and she couldn’t really care either.
Unlike the rest of the people around here I am not afraid of the slithering beasts. Pandora folded her arms across her chest as she spoke. As with all men she was keeping an eye on where this man’s eyes traveled. After all, she wasn’t some object that could be scrutinized by any man that walked past. Though, it might help if she dressed a little differently. But she finds her clothing quite comfortable, and doesn’t think she needs to change.

Oh here we go.. Vl’kan thought as the so unnamed woman spun around and almost immediately shot off a quick retort of her own. He scowled at the manner in which she spoke to him. Telling him he should clean himself up. Ha! If she only knew this was a good day. Normally there would be a lot more dirt and blood. “I made it my business the moment your mental ramblings reached your tongue and therefore my ears. Make no mistake, you disrupted my moment of peace.”
“You should try Impressing a headstrong, bloodthirsty Garnet and then see what you look like on the best of days.” The Istan scoffed and shook his head. Clearly this woman knew nothing, or at least it appeared to be so. Even though he shot her a mild glare, Vl’kan still subconsciously moved to smooth down his hair at least. There wasn’t anything he could possibly do for his eyes and arm without crying to the healers. “I apologize if my appearance offends you. Though ten to one my marks are on the tunnelsnakes, flashy knives or not…” He probably came off a bit harsh and unnecessary but could you blame the guy? Here he goes trying to offer a little heads up to a lone unguarded woman who was bound to face some terrors down in the dark and she had the nerve to tell him he looked a mess? He rolled his eyes. Women…

Pandora glared at the man that was confronting her. Great, another idiot to deal with. She was seriously starting to wonder if all the men in the Weyr were stupid. Your moment of peace? None of this would be happening if you hadn’t opened your big mouth. No offense, but dragon’s don’t scare me, and neither does blood. She raised an eye brow at him as he spoke of impressing a dragon. So what if he impressed a garnet? She rolled her eyes and shook her head. If they weren’t stupid, they were egotistical. Which one of those this man fell under was beyond her, which made her wonder if there was a middle ground between the two groups.
Pandora smirked triumphantly when she saw him smooth down his hair. That action clearly stated her as the winner in her mind. This only furthered her thoughts that all men could be manipulated into doing what a woman wanted. HA! I’ve killed more snakes with these so called “knives” than you have probably seen in your life. She couldn’t help but giggle at him as she spoke. Clearly this man was ill-informed if he thought that mere tunnelsnakes could take her down. She lowered one arm to her side, while the other reached up, and dusted off her shoulder. This conversation was starting to bore her. She tilted her head to the side, and started to stretch. She really did need to find something more entertaining than arguing with a mere male.

Oh so now this was all his fault? Since when did that happen? “Look, lady, I don’t know what your problem is and to be honest, at this point in time, I really couldn’t give two marks.” He stopped messing with his hair and let his hand drop back to his side, a clear air of annoyance surrounding him now. Well, there’s his day ruined. “I don’t care if its dragons, or blood, of fluffy little pink bunnies that frighten you. I only mentioned a color because they happen to be a pain in the ass half the time so if I look like shit it’s not intentional!”
By now his jaw was clenched tight and there was a dull pounding beginning to brew in his head. He groaned at the throbbing and massaged his temple. Why was this woman so infuriating? “You know what, I don’t even care. Go play with your snakes then. Was just trying to give a friendly heads up.” Vl’kan shook his head and turned from the woman ad began to head down the halls, lightly shaking his head and muttering something under his breath. He was simply being courteous and she wanted to flip out on him? He was definitely not in the mood for this right now. Rubbing wearily at the back of his neck he quietly wondered of where he could go now. Bed came to mind. Nice and quiet and warm. Yes, that sounded amazing.

Pandora smirked when she realized that she had hit a nerve. Oh isn’t this just precious. The wittle baby is running home to his momma? She laughed at him, she wasn’t intentionally cruel…it’s just who she was. It was how she kept herself safe from getting her again like when Grandma had died. Listen pall, I don’t see any reason why you should be nice to me, and why I should be nice to you. She raised an eye-brow at hi m as she spoke. She was quite amused now that she had struck a nerve. She looked him up and down as he walked away, and wondered if she could hit any other nerves. This seemed to be a kind of game tin her eyes, and she wondered how long it would be before he really did get mad, and left. But until then, she would continue to cautiously push her luck.
Come now, aren’t you supposed to be some “big bad” dragon rider? Pandora might not have the chance to impress one of the large creatures, but she had always admired them. Especially since she had found out that there were dragons out there of her favorite gemstone. But to think that this man was impressed to one of the great beasts, seemed to rankle a few feathers, figuratively speaking that is. It was obvious he wouldn’t show her his dragon without a little…convincing. Though, how she was going to go about that convincing was still beyond her, but maybe, just maybe, if she pushed him hard enough, he’d try to intimidate her by taking her to see the beast.

He stopped dead in his tracks the moment she insulted and laughed at him. Vl’kan didn’t run, not from her or anyone for that matter. It was clear she was trying to push his buttons and rile him up but for what reason or purpose? Either way it was infuriating and highly annoying. What is her deal?!
Ohh she’s a feisty one, isn’t she Vl’kanMine? Shame you’re letting her affect you in such a manner… Thormyth’s rough and sinister voice broke into the mans thoughts at that very moment, causing him to hold back what he was about to say as his bonded gave his opinion on the matter. I can’t help the fact that she just so happens to rub me the wrong way!!
A growl entered his mind and the rider quickly calmed himself with a few easy breaths, before letting his eyes drift to the woman once more. Calm yourself before you make a fool out of the both of us. Vl’kan forced a light incline of his head. “I apologize for intruding on your solo walk tonight. It was none of my concern in the first place and you look perfectly capable of taking care of yourself.” It was clear his voice was strained as he spoke, trying to keep it as level and as calm as possible so he wouldn’t end up snapping and going off on another tangent. “My name is Vl’kan,” he added on the end, seeing as they still hadn’t been properly introduced yet.

Pandora smirked mischievously when she saw him stop dead in his tracks. So she had bothered him after all. Well this was going to be an interesting night. She liked her lips, and seemed quite feline in appearance. She raised an eyebrow at him when he finally looked back at her, and apologized. Oh yes, this was quite interesting. Well Vl’kan, I am glad to see there is one male in this place that has a little bit of sense. Even if it is only because of your dragon. She didn’t even try to hide the insult from him.
You may have told me your name, but why should I privilege you with mine own? Pandora kept her voice cautiously even as she spoke, and made sure to keep all curiousness out of her features. There was no need for him to know that she was intrigued by their…bickering? She wasn’t sure what to call what they were doing, but she was enjoying herself. Now if only she could figure out what buttons to push to really send this weyrling over the edge. It’s not that she enjoys making others mad, she just likes to know her limits...though…usually she pushes to hard, and goes a bit over board.

His jaw went slack and his mouth moved wordlessly as yet another insult was thrown his way. Shaking his head, Vl’kan snapped his mouth shut and narrowed his eyes. Who did this woman think she was?! Twice, TWICE, now he had tried to be nice only to have it thrown back in his face like a wet towel. There was just no pleasing or leveling with her it would seem. Well the time for being nice was over. He tried, twice, now and it felt as though his efforts were wasted. Shaking his head he turned from the woman for the last time and made for the nearest exit, one that would lead him out into the ‘bowl.
Come on down Thor…have a little fun. The large dragon moved fast for his size and was down on the sand in an instant, although he came close to crushing his rider in the process. Do I get to eat this one? Shielding his eyes, Vl’kan coughed and reluctantly shook his head. No matter how much I want to say yes, Inali will kill us for sure.
Thormyth snorted, as if those consequences could bother him, and instead leveled his eyes at the darkened tunnel. Come out come out little one. I want to play a game. His sing-song tone was almost sickening sweet as he taunted the other being to show themselves.

Pandora’s expression changed to one of pure, untainted, pride when she saw the expression on Vl’kan’s face. Now she knew she really had hit a nerve. Others had made it seem so hard, yet here she was, hitting nerves and pushing buttons as if she were taking candy from a baby. Maybe she had made the right choice by staying in the Weyr. After all, if she had left with all the others from Solace, she wouldn’t have had the chance to have all this fun now would she? Oh well, the fun was just beginning apparently.
Pandora raised an eyebrow as he started to walk away. She slowly followed after him, and wondered if she would finally get to meet the garnet dragon he was supposedly bonded to. She truly did love garnets, both the gemstone and the dragon. Though, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to be bonded to one. From what she heard they were quite mean, and despite her cold outer demeanor, she really was a nice person. That’s when she heard the sickeningly sweet voice inside her head. So, he really had led her to the great beast.
Pandora strode calmly out into the sunlight. She stood tall and proud as she gazed over the large garnet dragon that now stood before her. She was cautious, and made sure to keep all thoughts to herself. She wasn’t sure if dragons could hear the thoughts of people other than their rider, but she wasn’t going to take that chance. And what game did you have in mind great Garnet? She wouldn’t hide the respect she had for the dragon, nor would she hide the plain disdain she felt for his rider. So if he felt like probing her mind that would be all he found.
