It was dark, very dark. Usually no dragon would be out and about at this hour of the night, but tonight wasn't quite like any other night. A young dragon lifted his head, eyes gleaming with a hint of red as he checked to ensure His was sleeping before he crept out of the barracks and went about his new nightly tradition; Weyr watching.
He moved as silently as possible, each step slow and measured as he crept to the edge of the tunnel. A head snaked out beyond the entrance, checking to see if any other dragons were out and about in the Weyrbowl. Ah... no one was stirring. He could see the solhouettes of a few dragons on their ledges, seen only because of the light shining from the rooms behind them, but it seemed they would give him no trouble. He snuck out into bowl, keeping his movements as stealthy as possible. He knew some of the blind spots in the Weyr and used them to his advantage as he sought out one of the weyrs in particular. Glancing about again, more red in his eyes, he took off and made his way to the ledge, flying overhead first to ensure the dragon wasn't there.
He didn't care which dragon it was, or what he was doing; any of the Southern pairs would work as long as it wasn't Amiith. He rumbled quietly as he noticed the ledge was indeed empty and was about to put his plan into action when a little epidote firelizard betweened in front of him, hissing in disappointment. Quiet, idiot. I need to do this. Cassim huffed in response but quieted down and followed the red dragon, his eyes whirling in concern. Backwinging he landed and tried to see if the rider was inside but he couldn't tell. He would need to work quickly. An image entered his head, sent by the flit, of the riding straps he was looking for before the epidote blinked out of the weyr. There they were... hanging on the wall. Perfect.
A light, pleased hiss escaped his throat as he stepped towards the straps and after a moment of studying them, he placed the side of his jaw against a section of the strap near one of the buckles and began chewing, trying to weaken the hide. After a moment he felt the strap give a little and moved away, happy to see the tiniest of 'tears'. That would do! He couldn't attack the Southern dragons directly; not only were they bigger than him but they outranked him. This though... this would look like an accident.
Pleased with his handiwork he took off the ledge and headed back to the ground, rumbling in excitement as his feet touched the ground. In his happiness, Braymoth forgot to check for watchers before beginning the trek back to the barracks and his sleeping rider; hoping no other weyrlings would be awake.

Akilu nuzzled against her green's side, kissing the dark hide. "I should really get to my own bed love." Lorendyth crooned, licking Hers cheek. If you must Mine! I don't want you to leave though....I'd miss you... The green keened slightly, playing into the neediness of a lovesick dragonet. How easily her rider was fooled by her act! "Don't worry Loren, I'll be right here." Akilu scratched the green's eye-ridges, getting up and tucking herself into bed.
She had tried so hard not to think of Saka being lost. The girl had not returned from their first trip between on their dragonets. Lorendyth rolled her eyes from under her wing. The weak did not survive, only the strong did. The dragonet watched her rider fall asleep, observing her breathing closest to make sure Akilu was really gone into the night. Lorendyth gave a slight hissing chortle and rose from her bed. The green had heard footsteps and the clinking of talons a while ago while Hers had been dozing curled up against her body.
Leaving the open weyr, Lorendyth looked back and forth between the halls. She crooned playfully as she spotted a dark shape larger than herself. Hello dearie, why what mischievous things have you been up to my Garnet Prince? She slithered over to Braymoth, moving to draw her tail against his side in way of greeting. Nothing good I hope.

Chahaturth watched the Weyrbowl silently from her ledge. Her rider was fast asleep, but there was something about this night that wouldn't let this large dragoness fall asleep. She lifted her head from where it rested on her front paws when she saw movement in the bowl. She recognized the dark red hide of her garnet brother, and wondered what he had been up to. She quietly rose from where she had been laying, and walked out of the room she shared with her rider.
Chahaturth moved a lot more quietly than one would think for such a large dragon. She rumbled quietly when she saw her little green sister speaking to their garnet brother. What are the two of you sneaking about at this time of night for? And where did you go dear brother? Her voice was sweet, and gentle as she spoke to her siblings, but there was no mistaking the sheer curiosity that was embedded in her words.

He heard a sound from down the hall and paused in his tracks, trying to see what it was, and hoping whoever was down the hall hadn't seen him. It was a croon that insinuated just who it was lurking in the dark halls. Well, it figured that of all dragons to be awake it would be his devious green sister. As she moved closer, she finally began to materialize in the hall, and he was envious of the camoflage her dark hide gave her.
He crooned back in amusement as he tail slid against his side teasingly. Good is all a matter of perspective, isn't it, my lady of chaos? His head snaked around her neck as he hissed playfully. He should have brought her along; they could have easily done twice the damage. Tell me, dear sister, what is it that keeps you awake on such a lovely night?
He would have said more, but it appeared his topaz sister had decided to play cop tonight. Sneaking is such a harsh term, Chahaturth, he replied with a dip of his head, I was merely stretching my legs and.. playing guard duty if you will. He lied, not sure whether the topaz would be accepting of his actual activities, though really, he WAS guarding his siblings. He was disposing of an intruder, simple as that.

She tilted her head as he talked to her, practically purring at his flattery. Well now Love, aren't you the eloquently worded one tonight? She crooned as she walked around him, observing just how much he had grown. He was becoming quite the handsome Sub-King. She stopped as another form came by though. Hissing, she flicked her tail irritably. Hello Chahaturth, might I remind you too are walking alone at this hour.
Even though it was posed as a question, Lorendyth stated it as simple fact. Flicking her wings dismissively and not caring in the slightest that the Topaz was much bigger than she was, she turned back to Braymoth. So he was playing guard? She pouted a bit, giving a little whine. Why didn't you think to bring me you know how useful I could have been My Prince. Mine had been asleep for a while when I heard someone leave. She looked toward Hers' room, thinking of the girl asleep there.
She cared for Hers, but Akilu was her minion. The weyrling did as she said because she was just happy to have someone. Did Lorendyth use this? All the sharding time. Was she proud of it...not always. Occasionally a pang of sadness washed over her whenever she pretended to be something she was not, then it was pushed away vishously. Hers would never understand her like she was! Yet, somehow she had chosen Akilu. Shaking herself out of her thoughts, Lorendyth moved to nuzzle Braymoth's shoulder. Do tell what you have done dearest.I can't wait to hear the devilish things you have come up with now.

Chahaturth crooned softly when Braymoth spoke to her. She looked him over, and definitely liked what she saw. But she couldn't forget that the two of them were not alone, and so she kept her words to herself. I only came to investigate the noises I heard dear sister. As for playing..guard duty brother. I would have hoped someone as...deliciously cunning as you would have been up to something more fun. Her voice was a gentle purr as she spoke to her siblings.
Chahaturth watched silently as Lorendyth moved and nuzzled Braymoth's garnet shoulder. Her eyes flashed a hint of red, but only for a second, and she wasn't even sure either of them had noticed. That was one thing she prided herself with, being able to hide her temper. She moved to stand on Braymoth's other side, and crooned quietly. I don't know about either of you, but I think this place has become boring. She made sure to make her voice sound extremely dull as she spoke.
I think someone should do something to shake things up. Chahaturth had a feeling there was something Braymoth wasn't saying, and she hopped her words would be enough to get him speak without her directly asking him about his actions out in the Weyr bowl. She wasn't sure if she should tell him that she had seen him or not, or even if he had noticed her watching him. Oh well, she pushed the thoughts from her mind, and waited for the reactions of the others.

Well, he definately didn't mind the attention he was getting. Sure, he didn't care about popularity or attention like some did, but he couldn't deny enjoying what he was getting. He was quick to eye Lorendyth as well, quite pleased in her; of all his 'allies' she was his favourite, by far. Chahaturth too, was a nice sight. He wondered if there was a devious side to her they hadn't seen yet.
I never stopped you from following me, my dear. He replied with a draconic chuckle. Besides, aren't guessing games just as fun? Lorendyth really was a strange dragoness, he mused. Two personalities; one he saw, and one her rider seemed to see. He much preferred the Lorendyth in front of him to the whiny, childish one that she became in front of her rider. At the same time, her absolute deceipt was delicious as well.
I assure you, my sisters, my night has been anything but boring. He replied to both with a sinister purr of his own. Chahaturth was trying to weasel the answer out of him, that much he could tell. Lorendyth was too, but he had no doubt she would be supportive. He swished his tail in thought. He could tell both, but he ran the risk of Chaha not being the supportive dragoness he was hoping for; and anyone knowing what he had done this early would mean the plan was in ruins.
On the contrary, Chahaturth, I think the fun is just beginning. He purred, settling down on the ground with a playful stretch. As I'm sure you're aware, a group of... tunnelsnakes have infested the place lately. He had paused to decide what to call the Southerners, and it was his own way of giving an extra hint, I simply thought I would do the Weyr a favor and I set a little trap. His eyes whirled mischieviously as he watched the topaz and green.

Lorendyth didn't exactly appreciate her sister being here. It was no secret either. The green lashed her tail behind her, letting her irritation show without any means to hide it other than that darkness which blended with the majority of her hide. True, true my Red Prince. She purred as he spoke to her, knowing full well that if it was her or Chahaturth, the Garnet would choose her to be his partner on secret missions. Sitting down, Lorendyth draped her tail over her front paws and lowered her head against her neck giving it a graceful arch.
Yes, I am well aware of our....infestation as you so eloquently put it My Dear. She gave the words a slight hiss, letting her normal voice speak as much as her mental one. Now did you Braymoth? What sort of trap have you set for them? Surely one that will end in a casualty of some sort, yes? She perked at the idea of harming one of the intruders. Oh yes, this was sounding quite good. Perhaps we should make sure all the tunnelsnakes are trapped? She hummed lightly, coyly snaking her head around to preen her wings as she spoke.

Chahaturth looked at her clutch sister calmly. It was no secret that she didn’t get along well with the little dragoness, but at least she kept herself from looking outright unpleasant. Then there was their clutch brother to deal with. To tell the whole truth, Chahaturth preferred the evil males to the more regal bronzes that presumed to run the Weyr. Oh yes, if she had her way when she got older things would change. But then she had another problem to deal with, her golden sister.
Chahaturth rumbled with laughter when she heard what Braymoth had called the Southerners. Tunnelsnakes huh? They seem more like rats to me. But that is beside the point. I must agree with our sister Braymoth dear. Why stop at only one? I am sure there is a way for the…three…of us to lay enough traps to get rid of all them, or at least most of them. There was a sweet purr in her voice was she spoke. Something about that noise just seemed…evil.

He crooned in amusement as she continued to treat him like royalty. It was definately something he enjoyed and there was no doubt he was more beloved than the other garnets. The purr that he let out was proof enough of his approval of her nicknames for him. She was quite the clever green wasn't she, and she was correct in her silent assumption. Of all the dragonets from his clutch, Lorendyth was the top of his list for partners, at least as far as the dragons go. He wondered how devious she would be if her human was involved. Well, perhaps the time to find out would come one day.
An oh so important strap of hide was my target, but we shall see about casualty. If we are lucky, perhaps there will be one. Tunnelsnakes are intelligent creatures however. I merely wish to test that intelligence. It was the type of scenario that was a win win either way really. If the Southern rider was intelligent, the straps would be noticed and the rider would likely be on edge for some time, wondering what or who, had caused the damage. If he or she didn't check though... Well, it was a long way to the ground. Maybe someone would even get to see him splat on the ground.
My devious darling, I do so enjoy you. He replied to Lorendyth alone with a bloodthirsty hiss. Then Chahaturth was included once more. The night is still young after all. The same trap never works twice though. We must be more sinister I think. He wouldn't deny that his 'trap' wasn't the most effective, but there was only so much he could accomplish at a time. Partners would make it much easier. Besides, he was seeing a side of Chahaturth that he hadn't been privy to before. If she kept this up she could be quite the ally. He stalked around the orange dragon, his tail trailing curiously along her as he observed her.
Now, let's see what the princess of our clutch can up with hmmm. I am so, so curious.
