Name Dalia
Pronunciation Dah-lee-uh
Age 13 turns
Season Born in Spring
Gender Female
Sexuality Fairly uninterested, equal preference so far though
Appearance
Dalia's small for her age, petite and still very much child-like in appearance. At only 4ft 10in, she often is dwarfed by the other candidates, though she usually doesn't mind much. The girl has long golden brown hair that reaches her shoulder blades, and is as straight as could be. It never kinks or curls, it often just lays across her shoulders and upper back like a veil. Likewise, Dalia's eyes are a darker grayish blue that range on more of the hazel side. From afar, they even might look brown.
Like with the rest of her body, her face too is slim and fragile in appearance. It has little excess body fat and instead has a pointed chin and high cheek bones. It still somehow looks young though, and the head flows into a long neck and tiny shoulders that seem entirely breakable. Her frame from that point on is basically one consistent, straight line. There isn't much of a curve, and many people have considered Dalia to be deathly thin because of this.
The girl often wears neutral colors as well, preferring blues and browns to brighter hues. She doesn't like sticking out too much in appearance, and even the clothes themselves are not to flashy or high fashioned. They're simple tunics and cloaks, pants and boots. Her hair is often pulled back into a low pony-tail as well, showing off her face and eyes, though her bangs have a habit of falling into her sight.
When Dalia moves, she moves with everyone else. This doesn't literally mean that she only walks when others are walking, but instead that she just blends into the rest of the crowd. She doesn't go against the flow, but with it. Her movements even are small and almost timid, though no one would guess that such an adventurous and confident girl was inside.
Personality
Dalia isn't one to just stick around and not help when its needed. She likes to feel useful, and will always be among the first to aid the weyrfolk with a meal or watch the other weyrbrats. She grew up in the creche with them, and so has become well known with the children. Dalia knows this, and she takes great care to provide for the kids. Anytime someone has a problem, it is her that she emphasizes coming to. She'll fix anything that she sees broken simply because she can't stand it being that way. It's a fault since the girl has not yet learned to sometimes just leave broken things alone, but she at least always has her heart in the right place.
The girl is not one to be scared of a situation either. She seldom cringes away from trying times, and instead confronts them with a laugh. As most children do, Dalia doesn't believe that anything can harm her. She doesn't think about the bad things in life, or worries constantly. She's fairly carefree actually instead. Dalia takes the world in strides, and always is looking for the next adventure. She's the trouble maker that never gets caught though. The girl is quiet in groups, always saving her words for those that she knows will actually listen.
Because of this, most of the time her adventures are played out on her own. However, she does make some friends, and even then she thinks everyone somehow is her responsibility. Dalia refuses to ever let someone down. If you asked her to do it, she will unless she is dead set against it. Even then, she'd try to get you to understand her point of view first. The only time that this isn't true, is with the rules set by the Headwoman and the leadership of the Weyr. Some rules are kept, most though are discarded in the young girl's mind. She plays by her own book, often watching from the outskirts because of it. If someone breaks a rule, she won't say anything about it, she'll just look the other way.
If it is something that Dalia says though, her word is law. With anyone she deems as her charge, she is strict. It's her way or the high way, no questions. If someone disagrees, Dalia will "politely" explain her reasoning and tell them to either get with the program or shove off between. Rude? Perhaps but the girl has little in means of patience with people that disagree with her. Dalia has her own agenda, and no one can take it away from her.
As high strung and determined as she seems though, Dalia really isn't one for the whole "world domination" thing. Her rules only apply to those that choose to follow her, and anyone else can do as they wish. She really is the shadow in the back of the room a lot of times, always there but never really participating. Sometimes she loves social life and loves being around people. Other times though she just doesn't want to bother with it at all. She's a complex, and often contradicting, person, but she tends to prefer it that way.

History
Born into the creches of Trelis Weyr, Dalia was was the daughter of some drudge caught in the aftermath of a Queen's flight. Her father didn't ever know that she was his, and her mother died after giving birth leaving her without a parent. The Headwoman and drudges took her in though, raising her along with the other weyrbrats. From a young age she knew exactly what she wanted to be. Dalia helped the drudges and riders whenever she could, taking care of her "Siblings" the rest of the time. She was determined to stand out though to the riders and dragons most of all.
When Sahelli passes away, Dalia was still young and could hardly understand just how much the Weyr grieved. She still did with them though, and she remembered so many of the riders leaving after Inali and Loraketh rose to Senior Weyrwoman instead of Iskra. At first things were shaky, but soon they settled into a more regular movement. By the time the first of the new colors hatched at Trelis from Loraketh's clutch, Dalia wanted nothing more than to stand. She was only 12 at the time though, and a turn too young.
During the issues with Ista, Dalia took to watching over her fellow weyrbrats more and more, becoming increasingly protective of them. When the children were returned though and Maelath's clutch hatched, again things seemed to settle only to be shaken again with the leave of Iskra. One thing stood out to Dalia though, she would be old enough finally to be a candidate. Though the Great Storm dampened that mood, she was continually helpful with the other drudges and weyrfolk as refugees pored in.
Now, as Loraketh's second clutch waits on the sands and the Southern Riders are pushed to their limits, Dalia eyes only on candidacy. Finally this is her chance, and she's not about to let it go...
