Naomi winced as she accidentally hit her foot on the ground. This really was going to be a very long night. Things had gone from bad to worse for the poor woman, and what was she thinking?! She had kissed a man that she had professed to hating. She had a feeling that she wasn't the only one confused about what had happened. She had never acted like this before, and didn't know what had gotten into her. It must have been the injury that had knocked some screws loose.
Naomi sighed and shook her head. She still didn't understand all the strange feelings that were rummaging around inside of her. She had actually kissed him. Her first kiss, and he hadn't even kissed back! Then again, she hadn't really given him a chance to either. She took a deep breath as she hopped a couple more steps. Well, since she couldn't move very fast, she would have plenty of time to think about what was happening to her.
Naomi bit her lip as she continued to make herself move, and make herself think about what had happened. She had to admit, the man was handsome, and she kinda liked his name too for some, strange reason. What on earth have you done to me Korvin? She was too afraid of what would happen to actually ask the question out loud. I mean, she only recently turned twenty, and had never been involved with anyone, or anything, other than her canines.
Naomi was really tempted just get down on her hands and knees, and crawl the rest of the way back to the Weyr. She looked over at the stick Korvin held out, and gently took it from him. She positioned it so that it would hold most of her weight on her right side, and cautiously attempted to put her foot on the ground. Nope, she winced, and gasped at the pain the movement caused, and thought better than to try it again. She shook her head, and tried to think of another way.
Naomi repositioned the stick, and attempted to use it kinda like a crutch. It was working so she didn't stop. She was moving faster than before so she didn't complain...out loud anyways. Inside she was fighting with herself, and complaining about her situation. She just needed a good nights rest, and put all of this behind her. She needed to forget about everything that had happened! Though, she wasn't sure if Korvin would let her. They were candidates after all.
That meant that they would see each other at lessons, or chores, and even the wher hatching. Naomi was mentally beating herself up, and trying to figure out what to do about the way things were going between her and the other hunter. You tell anyone about what happened out here, and I swear I'll find a way to permanently silence you. Her voice was low, and her words full of venom that she didn't actually feel. Maybe this was just her way of showing him she liked him.
Naomi looked up at the hill ahead of her, and wondered if this stick would be able to support her weight going up it. To tell the truth she was afraid of even trying, but she wasn't going to let Him see that. She took a deep breath and started to walk up the hill, very slowly. That didn't last long though. The stick might have been sturdy, but when putting all over weight on to the stick, it slipped in the soft ground, and down she went, falling ungracefully onto the ground.
Naomi rolled over and cried out as pain shot up through her leg. Well, try one didn't go so well, maybe attempt two. Go on, I'll get up on my own. She turned away from the man, and looked up the hill again. She really was thinking about crawling up the hill. She turned back and looked at Korvin. She glared at him, blaming him for what had happened to her. She attempted to use the stick to hit the man's arm, but let's face it, that's a long shot.
