Naomi quickly sat up when Korvin pushed himself off of her. She was secretly sad that the moment had passed, but she would never, EVER admit that, not even to her own canines. She didn't know what it was about him that had her so...so...well, dumbfounded. She had a feeling that this strange, awkward feeling wouldn't go away as long as she was around him, and would be there every time they were in the same room. She sighed, exasperated, when he said she had no patience.
Naomi looked up at him when he apologized, surprise written all over her face. She had never expected him to be the kind of man that apologized for anything. I'm fine, and I didn't peg you as the type to be appologetic. Her words were sharp, and very carefully, unemotional. She ignored the hand he had offered her. She preferred not to touch him, or have any physical contact with him. There was just something about him that she couldn't get over.
I guess we should find a way to get you back to the Weyr. Your arms broken so you won't be climbing any time soon. I guess that means taking the long way. Naomi brushed herself off, front and back, to make sure that nothing was sticking to her. She looked up at the top of the cliff, and raised her eyebrows at the site she saw there. She shook her head, and whistled to her two canines, and smiled at their prompt responses. She gave them a signal that meant they had to find a way to her.
Ayame snorted at the two bickering canines, though, she was very proud to see that her actions had surprised the male. Her ears perked when she heard a familiar whistle. She walked over to the edge of the cliff, and looked down at her human. Akela glared at the male, but when she heard her human whistle, she completely forgot about him, and walked to the edge of the cliff. Her and Ayame both turned away from the edge, and started to look around for a way down the cliff.

There was no doubt about it, Korvin decided as he watched Naomi, the girl had a screw loose somewhere. The way she seemed so confused was just... unnerving really, intriguing in a way as he wanted to know what was going through her mind, but all in all this was entirely unnerving. He looked away, blushing lightly at the look of surprise that crossed her face at his apology.
"Che, I ain't so wild I don' know when I should apologize," He bit back, feeling a bit miffed that his apology was such a surprise. Really, he may not be the friendliest guy around but that didn't mean he had no manners. He just didn't like to use them if he didn't have to! He had to admit though, the return of the cold, calculating voice was a bit of a relief to him. Whatever had been on her mind must have passed then, for her to go back to normal, unless of course she was just trying to hide whatever it was from him. He raised an eyebrow and looked directly at her while he spoke, his green eyes rather piercing even in the darkness of the forest. Then she was talking again, and from the looks of it she was going to 'help' him get back to the Weyr. Now hold on a second! He grimaced as she began walking off. Sure, he had been stuck and needed help, but he was on his feet now. He could make his own damn way back to the Weyr! He didn't need this woman's pity!
"You don't gotta stay with me y'know," He spoke sharply, feeling embarrassed that he was apparently coming off as a pathetic weakling, "You can climb back up there an' go home. The canines'll lead me back." He had begun following as he spoke, making sure to avoid eye contact with her as much as she was with him. There was still a strange, awkward sort of tension in the air and he didn't know what he was supposed to do with it. He paused then, realizing he had probably sounded like a dick, and while he still wasn't exactly fond of Naomi, he knew she didn't deserve it. "I appreciate what you've done for me n' all, but I'm sure you ain't wantin' to be here with me." There... if she left, he would be able to escape that weird tension, fix his arm up, and find his way back. Hopefully he just wouldn't need to use his arm for anything... a rather daunting task.
Boar and Gray also perked their ears up at the sound of a whistle, and Gray peered over the edge again in time to see her human walking off behind the woman. She huffed at Boar and both stalked after Ayame and Akela. They didn't need a signal to follow their human, they would have done it the moment they realized he was gone. Unknown to Korvin and the dogs, a way up out of the cliff was just a few minutes down river. It would be tough to do with only one arm, not impossible, but pretty difficult.

Naomi sighed as she walked. It was definitely dark out, but thankfully the moon was bright enough she could see where she was putting her feet. She chewed her lip as she thought about Korvin's words. Not wild huh? She shook her head, trying to rid herself of the thoughts. What she should be thinking of his how to get back without causing any more damage, or any other awkward moments. If they had to climb, then she definitely didn't want to be the one bringing up the rear!
Noami smirked at the image that popped into her head of the broken armed man following her trying to climb. That would be a sight. She was being uncharacteristically mean for some reason. She sighed, and her shoulders slumped down. She just wanted to put this all behind her. To crawl into her bed, and wrap herself in her covers. Then, in the morning she could pretend that none of this had ever happened. Yes, that's what she wanted. Well, that she wanted anyways.
Naomi stopped and looked back when Korvin spoke again. Really, and what happens if you get stuck under another rock huh? Like I said, I'm not doing this for you! Your dog came to the barracks crying, so I came to help her! Even though her voice was quiet, and level, it still sounded as though she was yelling at him. She quickly turned away, shock written all over her face. She could feel her cheeks start to redden again, and cursed herself. She would definitely need counseling after this.
Naomi could feel things that she had never felt before, and she didn't like it! She bit her lip trying to figure herself out as she walked. She heard his words, but chose to pretend as though she hadn't. Maybe she should just leave. It would make these awkward feelings go away...hopefully. She sighed and shook her head. She felt as though someone should just shoot her, and put her out of her misery. Then again, if she was gone, what would happen to Ayame and Akela?
Naomi pushed those thoughts from her mind. She shouldn't be thinking like that. The entire time that she had been walking, she hadn't tripped or stumbled once. Now that they reached more level ground, she finds the only tree root sticking out of the ground, and trips over it very ungracefully. She flailed her arms as she fell, and squeaked in surprise. She winced when she finally landed, and it felt as though her ankle was twisted, maybe even broken.
Just great, just great!!! I try to be nice and see what happens!? She really was yelling now. Though, not many people would blame her with the awkward way her foot was just sort of dangling off her leg. She had tears in her eyes, and she was trying to fight them back. It hurt, and she wasn't sure if she could walk on it. They had traveled quite a ways and she hadn't even realized it, they were now actually really close to a drop off on the cliff, that was actually more accessible to the dogs than the humans.
Ayame heard her human's squeak and started running. She found the drop off, and carefully climbed down. Barking the entire time. Something had happened to her human, and her human was hurt! She skidded to a stop by Naomi, and sniffed her leg gingerly. When Naomi winced, Ayame backed away from her injured foot, and went to sit closer to the woman's head. She whined sadly but gently nuzzled her humans arm, trying to make her feel better.
Akela ran after Ayame, and quickly followed her down the drop off. She stood next to the other canine and their human, growling deep in her throat. She didn't know what had happened to cause her human pain. She turned her attention, and growling, on the other human. If he had caused this she would rip him limb from limb. Well, she would try to anyways. She would do anything to make her human feel better again.

He winced as she retaliated, doing exactly what he thought she would do... though a bit... angrier than he had expected. He huffed, but stayed quiet. If she wanted to be like that then he would just ignore her back. Serves him right for trying to be civil to her. He looked away from her again, glaring at the cliff wall as they walked, only vaguely paying attention to where he was stepping as he fell a bit behind Naomi. he jumped in surprise at the sudden squeak from in front of him, followed by the thump of something hitting the ground. He looked at her, shock and confusion flashing through his eyes as he took in the site of her. The follwing string of complaints that shot out of her mouth brought him back to the present.
"Wha- Wha' the hell?!" He demanded in confusion, "I thought you were a hunter! Wha' kind o' hunter trips over a bloody root!?" He didn't care that he himself had done almost the same thing a few hours ago, causing this whole fiasco in the first place. She had teased and taunted him for his own error and then went and tripped over a bloody tree root? This was just rediculous! He was about to yell at her to get up and stop being an idiot when he noticed the weird way her foot was sitting. Seriously? He thought to himself, how had they both managed to injure themselves?! He went to step towards her but a warning growl made him pause in his tracks.
"Really?" He asked the dog, "Jus' get outta the way so I can help 'er up. Geez." He was getting tired of canines getting involved where they shouldn't. If Gray had just done what she was supposed to and stayed still, Naomi wouldn't be here and they wouldn't be in this mess. On the other hand.. he would still be stuck under the rock, which was equally as unappealing.
He stepped towards Naomi again, treading carefully to make sure he didn't trip over the root as well. "C'mon then girl, up an' at 'em" He offered her a hand, ignoring the dogs as much as he could without dropping his guard completely. "Guess you're stuck with me fer good now." He may have had a broken arm, but at least he would be able to help support her for walking. That hill though... He supposed he might be able to support her weight to climb up the wall... he tried to move the hand on his injured arm, but only received a shock of pain in return. With a sigh, he realized this would be a lot harder than he thought. On the bright side,... at least Boar and Gray were staying up at the top of the hill.

Naomi glared at Korvin's words. He was the cause of all her problems, and here he was teasing her!!! At that moment she really was tempted to throw something at him, and aim straight at his head too! Your the whole reason I'm out here damn it!!! I could be back at the Weyr in bed and in one piece!!!!! It was plain to hear the venom in her words. If looks could kill then Korvin would be a pile of torn up body pieces with the way she was staring daggers at him.
Naomi glared at the hand that he held out to her, and then an idea struck her. She sighed innocently, as if she was giving up, and took the hand. Instead of getting up, she yanked as hard as she could, in an attempt to unbalance him and make him fall. Though, she squeaked again when that plan didn't work, and he started falling towards her. this was not going to be a good night, not one bit. So she was stuck under him once again, and unable to move.
Naomi was thankful though that her injured foot hadn't been in the way when he landed on top of her, or she would be beating his face like a punching bag. Though, she was seriously tempted to anyways for a few reasons. One, she thought it might make her feel better, two it would give her a way to let go of some of her anger, and three, she thought it would be very amusing to see him get his butt kicked by a girl. I mean, if you were in her shoes wouldn't you?
Ayame yelped when the male human fell on top of her human. That was it, that was it! She had enough. These humans were on their own. They were just as bad as Akela and the male canine in her opinion. She snorted at them, and walked away, tail held high in frustration. She sat down a little ways away, and snorted at them once again. She sighed, and laid down. She had a feeling it would be a while before either of them got up, and then they would have to wait for the fighting to end.
Akela snorted at the man when he spoke to her, but when her human reached for his hand, she backed off. She yelped and jumped away when the man fell, and stared at the two humans in utter confusion. She shook her head and walked over to Ayame, she knew when she's been beaten. Or in this case, that trying was a hopeless endeavour that would only cause more problems than there already was. She laid down next to the other canine, and waited to see what was going to happen.

He could feel his own anger bubbling in his stomach as the wench turned around and blamed him for everything. "I's not my fault you're out here. You didn' have ta follow Gray, and I told ya t'go home. YOU chose to stay, so don't you be blamin me!" He glared daggers right back at her as she spoke, still leaving his hand out despite his annoyance. A look of voctory crossed his face as she seemed to give up. "Geez you women are difficu-ah!" He yelped as she yanked him down, effectively losing his balance and falling once more towards the woman. Realizing he would be elbowing her in the gut, he did his best to twist in such a way that she would at least not get punctured by his limbs, however, the move resulted in him landing on his arms in an attempt to stop himself, though the limbs only held for a moment before he fully landed on Naomi. He cried out as pain shot up his injured arm, and he closed to his eyes to stop the tears from coming out, his teeth clenched as he let loose a string of profanities.
He hadn't landed on her leg though, and for that he was grateful. He didn't want to have to put up with her whining and complaining over the injury, especially since it hadn't been his fault in any way. The pain continued to attack him, causing him to gasp a second time, his lips not far from the poor woman's ear because of how he had landed.
"I'm beginning t' think you just like bein' under me," He mumbled into her ear when the pain had lessened and he had regained some of his breath. Looking at her, he continued, "It sure seems to be happinin' a lot fer someone who hates me so much." He was going to push himself up... but dammit, he was tired, and in pain, and still trying to regain his air from the fall. She was the one who had pulled him down so dammit she would be his pillow until he was done resting. He did however, try to push himself with his arm in such a way that would take the brunt of his weight off her; no use squishing his dear savior now was there?
Up on the top of the hill, Gray wagged her tail with a long yawn, amused by the silliness going on below. Boar, on the other hand, curled up, waiting for a command.

Naomi had to admit, she was glad that he had turned so that he wouldn't be elbowing her in the gut, but she didn't like the fact that he was still on top of her! She gasped when he finally fell totally on top of her. He was a lot heavier than he looked! She groaned at the weight, but had to admit, he didn't land on her sore foot, that was about the only good thing she could see in her current situation. One that she would be more than happy to change.
Naomi was pined on her back, her arms at her sides, and was ready to do just about anything to get the man off of her when she heard, and felt, him gasp right next to her ear. She shivered with the feelings that single motion had caused within her body. Oh did she ever hate this man!!! If she had at least one free hand, she would have started beating his face in! Well, try to anyways. Let's face it, she had the short end of the stick between the two of them!
Naomi growled, actually growled at his words. Don't get confused old man! I'd rather be back at the Weyr than stuck in this stupid forest with you! She tried pulling herself out from underneath him, but when she tried to move her injured leg, she gasped in pain. Her eyes widened, and the tears flooded her eyes. She had had many injuries before, but nothing like this. It didn't help that she had a giant on top of her, and could get herself unstuck.
Naomi bit her lip and did her best to keep from crying. There was no way she was going to let this...this...thing! See her crying. She gasped when she felt his weight lesson, and was glad to see that he had shifted himself so that she wasn't taking the brunt of his weight. At least now she could breath without feeling like she had a dragon sitting on her chest. There had to be a way out of this, but how? She wracked her brain trying to think of a way to freedom.
If you get off me I won't tell anyone what happened. I promise! Naomi was good at keeping her promises, and if it helped her get out of this situation, then so be it. She really was ready to give up, and actually start begging, though, she hoped it wouldn't come to that. It was bad enough she had these strange new feelings to deal with, what was worse was that he was causing them! Right now she would give anything to be back home, snuggled safely in bed.

"Old man?" He asked, "I thought you had a good eye, woman. Guess I was mistaken." He grumbled, well aware that he was only a year or two older than her at most.. though maybe it was cause he didn't keep himself all prim and proper that he looked older. The thought, oddly enough, made him feel a little self-conscious. Did everything think he was that much older? No. Now was not the time to care about what other people thought! He glared at Naomi as she wriggled around beneath him, which was not only a bit uncomfortable, but also resulted in her hurting herself.
"Git. If you do that, you're gunna hurt yourself more." He commented dryly, as he shifted his weight, rather surprised that she let out such a gasp. Was he really that heavy? Or was it just because he was almost like dead weight right now? Regardless, she deserved it for being such an idiot in the first place. Then it happened, something he had not expected the proud woman to do. Was she... begging?
"Che, hardly an incentive woman." He scoffed, resettling himself in a more comfortable position with his head resting on her shoulder, his eyes half lidded as he lazily rested, no longer caring at all of the awkwardness of the situation. "If you tell everyone 'bout this I'll just have ta tell them about your fall and how you were beggin' me all cutely." Though there was sarcasm evident in his voice, he was mostly trying to tease her, since she wasn't exactly in a position to argue. "Besides," He leaned closer to her ear for his final comment, "You make a wonderful pillow." There, she could whine and moan and complain all she liked. But he was having a rest dammit!

Naomi glared at him when he commented about her not having a good eye. Her eyes were just fine! It was his that needed checked! She bit back the bitter retort that had formed in the back of her throat. Now was not the time for arguing, she had to find a way out of this situation so she could be rid of this man, and have a chance to think over all of these strange feelings she had. She just needed to stay calm, and think things through thoroughly before saying anything.
Naomi glared at Korvin when he scoffed at her. She wished she could put him through the torment that she was going through, and see how he liked it! She turned her head so that she could see his face, but kept her own face as far away from his as she possibly could. No telling what the crazy old man would do if she let her face get closer than it already was. She shivered at the thought, that was definitely something she did NOT want to think about.
Naomi gasped in shock at the man's words. I am NOT begging you old coot!!! She practically screamed at the man. How dare he think she was begging?! She was just trying to strike a deal, that's all. Though she was tempted, but she just couldn't bring herself to wrap her mind around the idea of herself begging this man for anything! She growled at him again, she really hated this man.
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?! Did she just hear him right? Naomi thought she had heard him say that she made a good pillow! Oh no, there was no way she was going to let this brute lay there and tease her like that without a fight. She used her good leg, and tried to kick Korvin in the shins, at the moment that's about all she could do since he was laying on her. She was truly stuck now, and couldn't think of a way out of this situation. If only someone would come alone and save her.
Naomi knew that was impossible, no one would be looking for a couple of wher candidates that had been hunters before moving to the Weyr. She sighed and laid her head down. That's it, she was at the end of her ropes, she was ready to give up. She couldn't think of any way out of the situation, so why fight it? That's all she had ever done, and now, of all times, she was ready to give up. She didn't think there was a single thing this man could do to make her feel any worse.

He smirked as she yelled at him, pleased to see she was still full of fight, he wouldn't want her any other way. Not that he wanted her, of course. She was just a stupid women who had gotten herself stuck in a stupid situation and he wanted nothing to do with her once they got out of here, shards, he didn't particularly want anything to do with her now... though she was rather entertaining. He decided not to retaliate, simply snuggling his head further into her shoulder as he smirked at her.
"Thanks girl, I didn' need ma eardrumbs or nothin'," He retorted as she screamed again. Shards was she ever annoying, and she seemed to lose her cool easily. Who knew she would be so bad at keeping her mask up when faced with a situation like this. He winced lightly as she moved, causing pain again in his arm. Without moving his head he glance down to his leg. Had she just tried to kick him? or was that just one of the local insects landing on him. It was so gentle he couldn't tell either way. "Is that all ya got?" He waited for her to make a second attempt, but nothing came. No kick, no venomous words... nothing. He raised an eyebrow in curiousity. Had she... given up? He sighed, that was no good, he was only doing this to get her off her high horse, not destroy her will. THough really, if that's all it took to break her then Korvin was sorely disappointed; he had really begun thinking he had met someone with whom could at least hold a friendly rivalry. Ah well, he should have expected it from such a weak woman. He lifted himself off her as carefully as he could but remained nealing beside her, his back to her form.
"Geez you're pathetic." He mumbled as he balanced himself properly. "C'mon then woman. As thanks for lettin' me rest on ya, I'll carry ya." He glanced over his shoulder coldly, "Unless you're too weak to even manage that much." A sudden, distant sound caused him to glance away and up to the clouds. Thunder... shards.. was a storm on its way? Would they make it back to the Weyr before the rain started? "C'mon woman, hurry up, we ain't got all day!"

Naomi took a deep breath when Korvin lifted himself off of her. She closed her eyes and waited for him to get completely off of her before siting up, and looking around. She could see and hear the storm coming, but she just couldn't make herself move from where she was. A look of complete exasperation crossed her face at the man's words. She wasn't pathetic damn it! He really was pushing his luck. Sure she might have seemed like she gave up, but there was still some fight left in this woman.
Naomi slowly turned towards Korvin, and glared at him. He really was pushing his luck with her, and when he told her to hurry, she snapped. She had never hit anyone before, so I guess Korvin's the lucky number one. She swung at the back of his head with all her might, and kept her face emotionless even though she could feel her hand stinging from the impact. It served him right for teasing her, and trying to make her hurry up when she didn't want to.
Naomi did somewhat feel bad for him though, he was trying to be nice by offering to carry her. That and she had hit him pretty hard. She sighed, and grabbed the man's face between her two hands. She gently pulled him towards her, and gave him a small kiss on the lips. Thanks for the offer but I can do it myself. She turned away from him quickly after that, and attempted to stand up by herself, all the while trying to be careful for her injured foot.
Naomi finally managed stand on her own, but walking was another story. Since it was her right foot that had been injured, she figured she could hop along the side of the cliff until it leveled out. Well, she thought she had one problem figured out, but then another one presented itself to her. What if it doesn't level out? How was she going to climb if she couldn't even put weight on her foot? She sighed and shook her head. She would just have to deal with that problem when it was time.

He hated waiting, he really did. They had spent enough time dilly-dallying out here in the great outdoors, so why couldn't she just hurry up and get on his back before they ended up injured AND soaking wet. He turned his head away from her with a sigh as she slowly, very slowly, pulled herself off the ground. He should have just left her lying there for Faranth's sake. He could have been to the Weyr and back by now with healers or something to carry her! He was turned his face back to her to yell again to hurry up, when a hand connected with his face at a speed he didn't think possible. The sound of the smack, without a doubt, echoed through the woods as the sheer force of it cause him to lose his balance, twisting around to fall on his rump.
"Wha' in Faranth's name was tha' for?!" He yelled, as he went to move his good hand to his cheek in an attempt to stop the pain. She beat him to it though, her hands resting delicately against his cheeks. He clamped his eyes shut, wincing in preparation for the next attack, but the next attack was definately the opposite of what he had been expecting. Ripe tomatoes couldn't compare to the shade of red that spread across his face as he felt her lips on his.
"W-wha' in... uh.. buh..." Jibberish slipped from his mouth as his brain tried to connect the dots. She hated him! She didn't even like being in the same forest as him! So WHY?! Why in Faranth's name had she gone and done.. that?! To all the world he probably looked more like a ten turn old getting his first kiss than a grown man of twenty. Then again, he had never been involved with anyone... Naomi had just stolen his first kiss! His jaw had dropped as she moved away, not even registering her movements as he lost himself to the confusion of it all. That was it. He was in some sort of weird dream... a nightmare even, where women kept changing their minds on the fly and doing weird stuff! Yeah... that's it. He was dreaming. He had to be! Yet.. why of all people would he dream of the hunter wench?! It made no sense! His mind reeled as he thought, still unaware of how far ahead Naomi was getting. Then again... his mind whispered to him, It wasn't all that unpleasant now was it?
He blinked and looked over to the woman. She was cute... in a disturbing 'I'm going to hit you for being friendly' kind of way, but when she wasn't whining and yelling about something stupid she was almost... No. NO NO NO NO Korvin stop it! Don't start thinking stupid things just because she kissed you! It was probably to psych you out. Yup. That was it. This was all just a ploy by that clever woman! Satisfied with the idea, he pushed himself off the ground and followed after her. He noticed the trouble she was having, and wondered briefly in annoyance why she wouldn't just accept his offer of help. Groaning to himself at the unusual thought pattern of the woman, he stooped to pick up a rather large stick off the ground. Testing it... he figured it would do the trick. It was dry, and a little short, but it might just help her walk a bit.
Catching up quickly since her own movements were pretty slow. He held out the branch to her, looking the other direction since he could tell he was still blushing profusely. "Oy... Naomi..." He spoke quietly, almost whispering her name as he held the makeshift walking to stick out to her. If she decided to take it, they'd be able to make it a pretty decent distance before the hill would be too steep to walk up... she would either have to pull herself up, or give in and accept help.
