Her steps were shaky as she walked the very edge of the weybowl where the shadows were gathered here. Where she felt stuck. where she felt... safe.... no one would see her here, but it wasn't what she was thinking of. All she wanted was for the voices to stop. Why did they have to persist. Her lips were moving, but her voice was silent as she repeated the words of an old ballad again and again over and over again.
It hurt so much. Her head hurt... but it had been hurting for some time now. It was... turning to a dull ache. One that persisted. It was never ending.
"The lilies grew on dusty fields, which were once warm and graced, til the storm hath come to us, destroy the home, the lives it wrought empty, distraught..."
The young harper trailed off. What was the use in writing a song that she could not physically record? She had to have help for the music and for the recording. It was pointless without it. She felt so useless and hollow right now. Her loneliness was so complete here.
Her deep auburn hair fell in large curls down around her shoulders. Her eyes were nearly black... and stared straight ahead of her, though she could not see where she was going other than from the glimpses that Stayn and Tizzy gave her. There was no real point in any of this. It was the sounds... and right now... all sound was drowned out by these sharding voices! Please, oh Faranth, give me some peace. Her silent plea was agonized and pained.
Her pale skin had a bit of dust on it and her clothing only matched because Tizzy was just plain picky about that sometimes. Her shoes were simply boots she pulled on because, since her family had been taken from her, she had no help and it seemed so pointless to look for something that might be fashionable when what was practical worked just fine. Worked just fine indeed.
She sighed and shook her head, which still ached... still ached.

Why was it so warm already? It was only spring after all. S’val groaned and crossed his arms sharply against his chest with a dull thump. Yes he was grumpy but as far as he was concerned he was well within his rights to be so. With all that had happened, from the loss of sigh in his left eye from that dammed storm, to losing his position as Junior Weyrleader, and all the chaos that those Southern brats were causing, was it really no surprise that the normally light hearted man had grown a little colder over the past months?
Calm yourself S’valMine, all in not lost. You still have me and I you. That’s something is it not? Solarith crooned lowly to his rider as he watched him from his warm spot in the sun. S’val huffed at his companions words but instead of responding he simply sat down in the shade that clung to the sides of the Bowl and closed his eye for a moment of rest.
Oh but it looked like he wasn’t going to be getting much rest. No sooner had he closed his eye did he feel the sharp kick of a boot in his upper thigh with the owner of said boot falling heavily over his legs and nearly landing right in his lap. With a startled shout followed by a grunt, S’val shot up to see that a young woman had in fact tripped over him.
“Shards… It’s my fault, I’m so sorry. You’d think I’d pick a better place to sit, huh?” Smiling gently he blinked and quickly fixed her with a slightly curious look. He was sure he hadn’t seen her around Trelis before. He offered his hand to help her up after already climbing to his own feet, oblivious to the fact that she was blind and might not see it. “I don’t think we’ve met. I’m S’val.”

Xaemia gave a startled exclamation as she tripped over him. As she hit he ground, she gave an oof. Oh... she had tripped over someone... "I-I'm so sorry..." She started, but was cut off as he started to speak. "No... no.. It's not your fault. Don't worry... Your voice is very nice." She didn't look at him, though she smiled, her eyes staring out into a nothingness. "I'm sorry... I can't see..." She sat there on her knees, unsure of what to do right now, though she still smiled, Tizzy and Stayn flying around her nervously, protectively. "It's alright you two. I'm not hurt..." Se held her head suddenly. Ouch! Why did they have to keep shouting!?
She looked up after a minute, her smile faint. She didn't exactly know what to do. She reached for the hand that was likely proffered, but she had no idea where it was. All she could see were blobs of color and shadow, which were not helpful in this situation. In fact... they were not helpful in this kind of situation. They told her some things... but didn't much help her, not in these situations.
"I'm so sorry for tripping over you!" She bit her lip again. Well... at least she was mostly unhurt and distracted from the persistent pain in her head. The most annoying thing, though, was that she had tripped over someone. This was the second time she had tripped over someone or walked into someone. It was not pleasant. She felt so bad...
Stayn and Tizzy finally just landed on the ground, trying to send theirs as much visual information as they could. Trying to take in and give theirs information about where the man she was talking to was and what he looked like more or less. He was a tall, handsome man. Definitely older than her seventeen turns, but she could have easily told that from his voice.
"My name is Xaemia... It's nice to meet you S'val." Her smile was soft and gentle and childlike... like always.

”I can’t see..”
S’val frowned as the young woman spoke before his face dropped completely. Oh great she hit her head enough so that she can’t see! He swore lightly under his breath as he scrambled to think but it was so hard with those ‘lizards of hers squeaking and fluttering about. But then, like a punch to the gut, it hit him. She was blind. “Oh thank Fa…” He quickly cut himself off and cleared his through. He shouldn’t be thanking anything right now, especially not the fact that she was already blind and that he hadn’t gravely injured her.
By now he had climbed to his own feet, his hand still outstretched to help her up, but naturally she couldn’t see it. Blind, remember? S’val kicked himself mentally. Today just wasn’t his day. “Here I’m right..” He gently took hold of her searching hands and helped her back up. “Here.” Smiling, though it was more to himself, S’val quickly brushed himself off before moving to adjust the black strip of cloth that wound around his head and concealed his damaged eye from sight.
“Nice to meet you as well. But you’re sure you’re alright? Don’t need to make a quick trip to the infirmary?” He prayed he wasn’t coming off as overwhelming, it was simply his personal code of honor springing into action.
Don’t worry about knocking into Mine. He needed a distraction from the mood he’s been in. Solarith chuckled from his spot in the sun but still refused to move as he spoke to the girl. Personally he had found the encounter quite amusing. To her it was probably just another voice added to the mix, but he was still unaware of her gift and until the time came that he did, the bronze would be unable to try and help.

She smiled warmly at him. "Thank you. You must be a very good rider. Very experienced and very capable. Your hands can tell stories, you know." Her fingers were slim, very slim and very small. She was very small in general. She only stood at four foot, nine inches and she was slender. After he had already released her hands to brush himself off, she did much the same to herself. Though, not so much for appearances because... well appearances really didn't matter to her.
"Oh, I'm fine, promise. " She smiled warmly and cheerily to him. Her smile was rather large and brilliant. Her eyes, though she could not see anything, were sparking and lighting up as she smiled. she ahdn't really gotten to talk to many people around here....
She jumped at the sound of the voice. Was... this one... addressing her...? "Oh... well... I'm glad I can be a distraction..." she said uncertainly, rubbing her temples. Oh why did she have all these voices in her head. Her expression was dead and far away for a moment as she tried to just... just deal with this for the moment.
She still hadn't told anyone, but... maybe... "Do... do... you... or.... know why... someone might here voices in there head that give them a headache...? When... when the dragons are upset... they... they get worse... it hurts more..." It was the first she had said to anyone of it and.. she honestly looked very afraid. She was so nervous... so afraid.
"I-I'm sorry... Don't worry about it..." she rubbed the back of her head as she laughed nervously. She had just met him... she shouldn't have said anything! She hadn't even said anything to those she had met earlier! Faranth!

Inwardly he had breathed a sigh of relief. Although at her comment about hands, his eyes widened slightly as he stared accusingly down at the two appendages. Now what exactly did she read from him? He moved to ask her this but she began speaking again and it wasn’t something S’val had been expecting. “Hearing…voices?” He rubbed the back of his neck as he looked curiously at her. People who heard things were generally considered on the crazy side of the scale. A frown furrowed his brow at the situation he thought he walked into but she continued to speak.
“Dragons? You…you’re hearing dragons? D-dragons..you can hear dragons?” A pause as he fumbled over his words, trying to wrap his mind around this new revelation. “You can hear dragons! Well, no..no I wouldn’t exactly call it normal but definitely not unheard of.”
By now Solarith had pulled himself to his feet and had padded over to the pair before His hurt himself. She can hear us all, Mine. We do speak to each other a lot so it’s no surprise that it’s overwhelming. He rumbled lowered his head to regard the young woman. Can you do anything to help her block them out? Solarith huffed and his tail twitched. I am not a gold, but I may be able to help if she wishes.
“Hey it’s alright, you don’t have to apologize. It’s not your fault these overgrown wherries are overly talkative.” He smiled again, fruitless really cause she couldn’t see it, but it was a habit and one that wasn’t going to fade easily. “Solarith might be able to block the majority of the voices if you let him in.” S’val shrugged lightly and moved to pat the scarred maw that hovered nearby. “Just a suggestion. It might help…”

"Well... At least... A least I'm not crazy." She breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe telling someone was good. Maybe telling this man was going to be a good thing. "Yes... I.... I guess. I can."
She smiled. He didn't need to tell her what Solarith said, but... That was okay that he did. "Yes. Yes... If he would be so kind to." She was quiet for a moment.
"You know... you can feel it when someone smiles at you. It's an incredible feeling. Or... I at least... like to believe it." She smiled warmly and genuinely. Of course, as always, she believed what she said. She was so naive. Everyone was good. No one had a bad side to them. There had to be good in everyone. If someone got upset with her, then she was in the wrong.
She looked at Tizzy and Stayn who were again sitting on her shoulders, giving her affection. She laughed, a relatively high pitched, light and cheery bell sound. She gently scratched her brown's eyeridges affectionately.
"So, S'val... Are you a wingleader...?" It wasn't just a guess, she had heard about him and she had heard about what had happened to him. She smiled, though she wasn't quite looking at him. It was meant for him though. It was most definitely meant for him.
Green Tizzy was hyper and excited. She was flying up into the sky above them excitably. She was so excited to see a big bronze. She was just so excited to see a big bronze. She was always excited to be around big ones. They were so big and so great.

Solarith crooned gently to the girl, in an attempt to reassure her, before taking the steps needed to quell those raging voices. It might have felt like a gentle push as the bronze exerted his mind to dull the voices and ended on a sharp shout. It would have taken a few moments for it to work and she would still hear the occasional dragon from time to time but it was the best he could do, after all he wasn’t a gold. I have helped her, S’valMine. She should feel less discomfort now. Solariths eyes whirled happily as he looked to His before turning his gaze to watch the antics of the little green.
“There you go, should be a little easier for you to think now.” He smiled gently before three distinct pops announced the arrival of his trio of firelizards. Brown Reign and epidote Orion quickly moved to settle into their respective places on the mans shoulder, while little blue Draco trilled happily and flung himself at Solarith and perched, quite casually, on the tip of the dragons maw.
“Yeah, um…yes, I’m a Wingleader.” His jaw clenched slightly as he spoke, after all they were getting close to a still sore subject for him. “Solarith and I lead the Sky Shaker wing.” A light shrug rolled off his shoulders and Solarith moved to nudge the man gently in reassurance. “So what brings you to Trelis? I only ask because I haven’t really seen you around since now..”
