Naomi sighed as she walked through the Weyrbowl. Ayame was walking close to her right side, and Akela was on the left. The two dogs had seemed very restless ever since they had come to stay at Trelis. All because someone had decided that she would make a good handler. I just wanna go home. Her voice was soft, and a little sad as she started to think of her home, her family, and all of the other canines. Ayame and Akela both whined a little at the tone of voice their girl was using. Naomi knelt down, and stroked each one on the side of their heads. It's alright girls, we'll be able to go home soon enough. Ayame gave a happy yip at the word she related with the rest of their family. Akela on the other hand just snorted. The black and white female didn't really care where they were, she just wanted to get back to hunting.

Gray stopped her movements, nose pressed to the ground as she tried to pinpoint the scent she had found. Her tail wagged excitedly back and forth as she picked up the trail and was off again, moving at a loping pace that was fast enough to cover some distance, but slow enough that her human could keep up. The normally noisy Boar was right on her heels, silent as he followed her, but the position of his ears and the way he held his body told Korvin that he would be ready to pounce the moment Gray gave the signal. There it was! Boar launched himself from behind the smaller canine and, snarling, sunk his teeth into the pray; a tunnel snake, by the looks of it.
Korvin whistled the canines back to his side, praising them for a good hunt, though deep down he hated the fact they had been reduced to pest control. He wanted to escape, to feel the adrenaline of a true hunt. Suddenly Gray's posture changed as she picked up another scent. Nose to the ground once again, the trio followed the scent until Gray's movements slowed. There was movement up ahead. One shadow.. No… three. Korvin grimaced, realizing Gray had picked up the scent of what seemed to be a human and some other canines. What a waste of time. Well, on the bright side, he was downwind of them, so he should be able to slink back in the shadows and avoid them altogether. That was the plan at least, until Boar showed his true colours once again, snarling and barking warning at what he considered to be intruders in his territory.
"Shardin’ mutt…" Korvin mumbled as he stood, preparing to walk off anyway.

Naomi stood up slowly when she heard another dog barking, and growling. She stared, unblinking in the direction of the upset canine. Ayame and Akela both started barking and snarling in response to the threat of another canine, but they didn't move away from their girl's side. who are you and what do you want. Her voice was loud enough to hear, but it was still pretty low. She placed a hand on both canines heads, and they both quieted immediately at her touch.
Ayame stayed standing, but she was quiet, just as her girl had told her to. She was pretty relaxed, and she didn't really feel the need to seem threatening. Akela on the other hand was quiet yes, but she was still baring her teeth, and her hackles were raised. Her dark brown gaze was staring daggers at the canine that was making all that ruckous. She could smell two other canines, and another human. She just wished she could tell what they wanted.

Korvin raised an eyebrow as she, for the voice was definitely female, demanded to know who he was. Geez, she was a noisy person wasn’t she? Just like everyone else he had run into at the Weyr so far. Oh how he longed for the quiet natures of the people he had grown up with. If only they hadn’t been… He shook his head, now was not the time to reminisce of the past. He ignored the other canines, having seen the woman calm them with nothing more than a simple gesture. At the very least, she had trained them well, and that deserved at least a bit of respect. Beside him, Boar continued a low growl, though it had grown quieter since the other canines had quieted, and Gray had moved to hide behind the larger canine.
“Don’t flat’er y’rself. I ain’t want nothin’ with you, girl.” He retorted, amused that some loudmouth chick thought he wanted anything to do with her. Secretly, he also hoped he she would be offended by being called ’girl’ and offer up her name without him having to ask. As for his own name, he felt no need to give it up without equivalent exchange. Gray sniffed the air and took a tentative step towards them making it a few steps away before the movement earned a warning growl from Boar. She dropped to the ground submissively, but the slow wag of her tail showed she was curious about these others. Korvin was tempted to simply call the canine to him and leave, but the fact the woman had canines - well trained ones at that - made him think that maybe, just maybe, she was also a hunter.

Naomi narrowed her eyes on the man as she waited for him to respond to her questions. She doesn't mean to be rude, but she had learned to be wary of strangers. Especially men that had canines that wouldn't shut up. She just wished she was back home, around people who she knew and trusted. That wasn't going to happen any time soon, so she might as well make the best of her situation.
Naomi had noticed that one of the man's canines had hidden itself behind the one that continued to growl. She knew that some canines were made to be afraid of strangers, and she also knew that it just came naturally to some canines. My name isn't "Girl" it's Naomi. Her voice was calm, and collected as she spoke, just as she believed it should be. She noticed that the smaller of the two canines, seemed to want to get closer to her own canines. Though, she wasn't exactly sure why.
Ayame sat down beside her girl and watched the other canines with a gentle curiosity. She curled her brown and white tail around her, which made her look even more feminine, and delicate. It didn't matter what Naomi did, this canine never looked anything but feminine. The female didn't mind though, she liked to use her looks to her advantage. She cocked her head to the side slightly, as she watched the other canines. She wasn't sure why the other canine was still growling, but had a feeling it had something to do with Akela.
Akela snorted at the other canines and then sat down next to Naomi. She didn't understand why her girl kept talking to the stranger, instead of turning and walking away. She kept her dark brown gaze on the canine that was growling, and was ready just in case he decided to try something. She might be smaller, but she was strong, and she knew how to handle herself in a fight. Especially since she would often fight with the other canines back home.

"Korvin." The young man finally responded, pleased that the girl - Naomi- had done as he wanted and offered her name up first, though he still didn’t feel like giving her any trust whatsoever. He had been raised by hunter to be a hunter, so the look she gave him was one he recognized from his family, and himself; a look of wary distrust. So… she was intelligent, not at all like those all-too-friendly candidates he was stuck with. Her posture, her way of dealing with things, and the well trained behaviours of the two canines beside her screamed hunter. Though, in the Weyr things didn’t always seem to make as much sense…
Korvin’s eyes narrowed much like Naomi’s had as he examined the girl. Her build didn’t exactly scream outdoorsy… with the delicate features she seemed more suited to be a hold Lady than anything else. The clothes however, screamed wilderness. He felt confident in his hunch… but what would a full out hunter be doing in the Weyr? He had learned quickly enough that the dragons kept most of the good game a fair distance from the Weyr; it would be smarter to go to the Hold for hunting.
He made a strange clicking noise with his tongue and boar quieted instantly, aware now that he needed to be prepared for danger, but there was no immediate threat. It also told Gray that she was free to do as she pleased, and the female canine was more than pleased to inch back towards Naomi and her partners… wanting to meet another canine. It had been so long since she had seen another. She tried to approach Ayame, her steps careful and wary in case her approach was unacceptable for Ayame.
"Huntin' round here ain't so good." He said off-handedly, turning to fully face the girl. If she was a hunter, she was likely already aware of the hunting, but he wanted to know why she was here. Once again, he was hoping she would offer up the information willingly.

Naomi listened quietly when the man said his name, she didn't trust him, he hadn't given her a reason to trust him. She watched his every move like a canine sizing up it's prey. Her smokey grey gaze never leaving the man, seemed almost cold. Yet there was something about her silent gaze that gave the man a quiet acknowledgment. She wasn't sure why someone who seemed so much like a hunter, would be living in the Weyr. There wasn't really any hunting to do.
Naomi heard the man click, and watched as his canines seemed to relax a little. She watched as one, the smaller one, approached Ayame. she rolled her eyes, and decided to ignore the canines for the time being. I know, I'm not here to hunt. She was blunt yes, but there was no reason she should tell him why she was really at Trelis. She wondered if he would tell her why he was hear. though, she wasn't exactly sure if it would work or not, but you won't know until you try.
Ayame's rabbit like ears twitched when the mad clicked, and she watched as the other female, yes it smelled more like a female, approached her. She stood up, her tail wagging gently behind her, and reached out with her nose to sniff the other canine. She wasn't sure about the man's canines, but it had been quite a while since she had been around other canines. Except for Akela that is, and she was ready for some knew company.
Akela watched the other female approach and growled at her once, and only once. that would be her one and only warning. She didn't want anything to do with the other canines. She shook herself, making her black and white fur ripple, and the fur around her neck, poof up, and make her look very beautiful, and feminine. She turned, and looked up at Naomi, wondering why they were still just standing there.

He raised an eyebrow at the girl in front of him. She was smart, her reservation about answering more than necessary reminded him of the people he had been raised by. He was a bit miffed that she hadn’t stated why she was here, not that he cared. From what he had seen of the Weyr so far, the general reason people transferred to the Weyr was either for their craft or for candidacy. He had known, since he was little, that hunting, especially where canines were involved, was a lot of work. So it was unlikely that she was here for another craft, though he couldn’t reject the idea entirely. However, with crafts out of the way, it meant she was likely a candidate of some sort. However, which species she was here for was beyond his guessing. She didn’t look older than him, so she could be for either. He didn’t know why not knowing was bothering him so much, he didn’t generally care about what others were doing. He had spent the last few Turns needing to care only for himself, and he felt a little uneasy about his curiosity.
She was affecting him, and he didn’t like it. He grimaced, suddenly feeling the need to get away. It was because she was a hunter. How long had it been since he had been able to hunt alongside someone else, feeling the rush of adrenaline that came when you had to incorporate your own skill set into your partners. He wanted to hunt with her, to see if she was as skilled as her canines hinted. Shaking his head he turned away and whistled quietly for his own canines to return to his side.
Gray, who’s tail had started wagging excitedly the moment the other canine greeted her back, and she wanted to play. She had never played with anyone but Korvin and Boar before and the presence of the two females was a bit overwhelming to the young female. However, her training won over her curiosity, and with a slight whine, she quickly trotted back to her human.
“I…” Korvin finally said, “I have somewhere to be…” It was a horrid lie, and he wouldn’t be shocked if she could tell, but if he stayed here any longer he might find himself answering questions. “Good hunting…” It was the customary departure words that his family had always said when they parted. In a way, he was showing his tiny bit of respect in her, his faith that she was a good hunter.

Naomi looked the man over again, he wasn't that much older than herself, maybe, one, two turns older at the most. She knew that different clans had different styles when it came to hunting. When she was younger, she had told herself that no matter what happened, she would learn more than just her own clan's ways of hunting. From what she could see of this stranger, he was a hunter that used canines. She knew that didn't really mean anything. They could just be well trained pets for all she knew. She narrowed her gaze on the man, and wondered why she was so curious.
Naomi didn't have to wonder long, she knew why she was curious. She had never met another hunter that wasn't from her clan. That drive to live, and adapt was nagging at her once again. If she was going to be able to survive, then she had to know what she was up against, even if that meant pretending to be someone she wasn't. She didn't get a reputation for being a cold, calculating, evil, and sometimes cunning individual. She knew how to think on her feet, but knowing how to do that won't always save your life if you don't know what you're up against.
Naomi looked down at the canine closest to her. It looked like a medium sized female, maybe just a little smaller than Ayame, but around the same size as Akela. She didn't know what kind of hunting dog this would be, but she probably wouldn't be very good during a chase like Akela was. She finished looking this strange dog over, than looked at the other one. It seemed like a larger dog, maybe a little bit larger than Ayame, but not by much. She shook her head, this man really was strange. There was just so much about him that didn't make sense to her.
Maybe I'm the strange one. She bit her tongue, hard enough that it started to bleed. She sighed and closed her eyes when she tasted the blood, and was glad that the sensation she felt then, took her mind of what she had been thinking. She finally opened her eyes when she heard the man speak. You are a horrible lier. She looked at him with a strange look that was a mix of "ha ha I caught you lying" and "you need help". She crossed her arms in front of her chest as she looked at the man with that strange look on her face.
Ayame whined quietly when the other female started walking away. She wanted to play! She looked up at her girl, and recognized the look on her face. She sighed and shook her head. She laid down next to her and watched the other dog leave. She snorted at her girl's words and sat up, wrapping her brown and white tail neatly around her hind legs as she did so. She wasn't sure what was going on, she just knew that she wasn't aloud to play with her new friend anymore.
Akela shook her head, and laid down next to her girl. She watched Ayame and this strange female with a look of untrusting disgust plastered on her black and white face. She growled a little as she laid her head on her front paws, and glared at the other canine who had stayed by his human. She looked up at her girl when she spoke and shook her head once again. They needed to leave, and they needed to leave now. Things were starting to get out of hand, and Akela didn't like it.

A light blush danced across his cheeks as the woman called him out on his lie, and he almost thought she was going to say something else, but she didn’t. Instead, he simply let the night air brush over him as he fought his embarrassment, not even looking back at her. Beside him, Boar began pacing, though his eyes still remained on the other canines and the raised fur showed he was still feeling aggressive towards them. Hardening his expression, Korvin looked back over his shoulder.
“Tch, like I care wha‘ some girl thinks.” He replied, reverting back to simple name calling in the hopes that she would get angry and leave him alone. If that didn’t work, the implication that she meant nothing because of her gender would hopefully hit home. Not that Korvin was sexist though, his own sisters had been spectacular hunters for their ages. Well, regardless of whether she responded or not, he was out here to get the canines some proper exercise. Gray, though still slim, had been putting on too much weight for the hunter’s liking. So, soon it would be time for him to leave anyways.
