Sharing The Adventure {Iona's Clutch Give-Away}

D'tri sighed and wanted to give up. He had been trying to decide whether or not to keep his golden firelizard's eggs, but he didn't see how he would be able to take care of eleven extra firelizards. He had tried talking the firelizard into letting him take just a few of the eggs and give them to good people who would be able to take care of him, but she had tried to bite his fingers off when he tried to move her away from her clutch, so that wasn't going to happen.

D'tri looked over at Loraketh, and wondered if she would be able to help him convince his firelizard to give up some of her children, but he was too frightened to ask the large queen. So he resigned himself to sitting next to the sands, and trying to concoct a plan. So far, very little was coming to mind, and the little bit that he had thought of, hadn't worked out very well. You really are one stubborn firelizard. He glared at Iona when all she did was croon to her eggs.

((OOC: Alright, this is before the stollen egg plot, but after the touching. So all you have to do is have your person come and ask for an egg, and in a little ooc note tell me which egg you would like. But of course it can't be one that has already been claimed.))

1. The Eternal Rose Sapphire - Harmony - Zirin's Firelizard

This is the largest egg of the clutch, and is fiercely guarded by it's golden mother.

2. Elegant Lightning Ametrine - Hisame - Jilli's Firelizard

This is the second largest of the clutch, and sits right next to Iona's front legs, and like all the other eggs of the clutch, is hidden by her golden wings.

3. Mystic Forest Egg - Bronze Ryuk - Zero's Firelizard

This large egg is right next to the Elegant Lightning egg, and looks as though it is protecting it's larger clutch mate.

This egg is sitting near the edge of the clutch, and can barely be seen peeking out from under Iona's wing.

This is the second smallest egg of the clutch, and is next to the Quiet Tomb Egg, and right against it's mother's side.

This is the smallest egg of the clutch, and is near the middle, but has been pushed to the side a little so that the Shifting Shadow's Egg could have enough room to lay down.

As much as he hated fire lizards, he had to admit... "That's one brave flitter you have there, to share the Sands with a Queen Dragon," S'bel called down to D'tri. He didn't know the other male well, but he had come for a look at the dragon eggs, and couldn't help but notice the other, smaller clutch. "You going to keep all the eggs?" He asked with a laugh, knowing that no one in their right mind would. "What's your plan for them? And don't ask me to take one, I can't stand the things and I've already got one, which is more than enough."

It was his day off and when he’d normally be taking advantage of the extra sleep, today F’lon found himself seated in the stands of the Bowl. It was sunny, warm, but most importantly quiet. The perfect place to relax and sort out ones thoughts. But he wasn’t alone of course besides the large golden Loraketh curled around her clutch, there was another boy sitting down on the sands next to his own miniature queen it seemed.

He was gutsy for sitting on the sands with Lore’s clutch so close to hatching. Surely he wasn’t doing it for some sick amusement though. Even F’lon himself wasn’t that crazy when in search of an adrenaline rush. No, today was different. There had been talk of a fire lizard clutch and a few eggs that might be handed out. He never had one of the little flitters and the canine he adopted had become more attached to his son then to him. So it was time he recruited another partner in crime.

Walking down the steps he offered the other weyrling a slight incline of his head in greeting. “Think I might be able to convince your little queen to part with one of her eggs, mate?” F’lon stared down at the clutch, or what he could see, and even took up a crouch to try and get a better view of the eggs. He caught a glimpse of the Mystic Forest egg sitting snug against its sibling and F’lon gestured to the brownish egg. “Think maybe this one?”

D’tri looked up quickly when he heard another man’s voice. He noticed him, and nodded his head. Yeah, she’s brave alright. The little pain won’t even budge. He glared down at the golden firelizard in question. Iona just chirped curiously, and then went back to crooning to her clutch of eggs. She knew she was getting on Hers’ nerves, but why should she have to give up her eggs?

No, if I can ever get them away from her, I’d like to give at least some of them, if not all of them, away. Unfortunately every time I try to get one, she tries to take my hand off! D’tri practically growled the last part of his sentence, at his firelizard. He loved her, but since this was her first time clutching, he was wondering if it was possible to make her chew firestone just so he wouldn’t have to go through this again.

You could help me get them from her, but you wouldn’t have to take one. D’tri smiled up at the man as the idea hit him. He wasn’t sure if he would help or not, but right now he was will to do just about anything. Though, asking Loraketh for help still was out of the question. She had to look after her own eggs after all, and didn’t need to be pestered by some weyrling trying to get his firelizard to give up her eggs.

D’tri looked up when he heard someone approaching, and noticed it was another weyrling. This one had impressed an Amy from the same clutch as his own dragon, Chahaturth. If you think you could get her to part with ANY of her eggs, you’re welcome to give it a try! His voice was an exasperated sigh. At least it wouldn’t be him getting his fingers bitten off! He looked at the egg F’lon had pointed to, and gestured for the other weyrling to have at it. He’d be happy to let anyone else try and stick their fingers near Iona’s eggs, and keep his well away!

S'bel nodded. "No one would want eleven of the sharding things! And having a Queen must be bad enough." As D'tri explained his problem, the bronze rider laughed out right. "As I said, having a Queen must be bad enough." He smiled in sympathy at the young Weyrling.

As another Weyrling approached, S'bel began to feel a bit awkward. He was the only full rider here, and he didn't even want a sharding egg like the other Weyrling seemed to. He shook his head. "Sure, I'll help you get them from her, but I'm not taking one." The other Weyrling-- F'lon, he remembered --actually pointed out an egg he wanted, and S'bel rolled his eyes. "You try and take that one, D'tri, you go for another one, and I'll go for that small one. She can only attack one of us at once, right?" And with that, he went in to grab the Shivering Glass Egg.

“Protective little thing…” F’lon muttered as he eyed the brooding mother. Oh this wasn’t going to end well, he could just feel it. After D’tri gave him the go ahead to take the egg he had previously pointed out, the thief thought for a moment the best way to pry the decent sized egg from its mothers grasp. If all else failed it was at least determined to get that egg without loosing a finger, though blood may spill.

“Just look…over here…” F’lon wiggled the fingers of his left hand on the opposite side of Iona’s body so that her head would twist away and leave his egg unguarded. It took a moment and at first it seemed like his little ploy seemed to work. Reaching for the brownish egg, he scooped it up with his right hand just as he felt a row of tiny daggers slice into the fleshy part of his thumb. The thief cursed under his breath and quickly snatched his hand back even as tiny flecks of crimson dotted the sand. “Got it.” He grinned at the other weyrling and moved back a pace to examine his egg which he placed in his lap while he wrapped up his thumb with a strip of cloth he pulled from his pocket.

Yanoya was not long in coming to the sands to see the eggs again and the flitter who had eggs on the sands. She wanted to see the eggs. She found the owner of the little gold there as well. There were already people here and she walked over quietly and stood a little ways back.

"'scuse me. You mind if I could get an egg as well... Um... maybe this one...?" she pointed to a black egg with silver rings on it. It was beautiful. "She sure is fierce... She doesn't want them being given out, huh...?"

She was relaxed, almost cold. It was her way, though. Her expression was far away and cold, as per usual. She looked at the boy as if he didn't matter.

D'rian grinned from the edge of the sands as he watched Shigure's little mate being a holy terror over their children. Regular flits were bad enough and the little queen was a spitfire. It gave him no small ammount of satisfaction to see S'bel having issues with getting an egg away from Iona, and soon Shigure flew over to join her, nuzzling his mate adoringly.

"Having some problems eh boys?"

Shigure hissed at S'bel. His didnt like this one. He didnt know how comfortable he was with this one wanting one of his children. He kept an eye on the man and placed himself between the man and the eggs with a little rumbling growl.

D'rian did laugh at that one.

"Now now Shigure. Don't be like that."
He stepped onto the sands and nudged D'tri. "I'll help out, Shigure's been pestering Kelath nonstop wanting us to keep one of his children."

Shigure made a small huffing noise and with a small smoke stream directed at s'bel he wrapped himself around the Elegant lightning egg.

"And it looks like he's decided..." He rolled his eyes as The flit slapped his tail at the boys every time they reached anywhere near his son/daughter, as if afraid they'd try to take it away from him.

Kite arrived at the Hatching Sands in a good mood. He had heard that there was a firelizard clutch at the Hatching Sands and decided to go see for himself. When he got there, he barely saw the clutch hidden in the sand. He approached it, he saw that there was a few people there. He circled around the group and saw the clutch for the first time. He sat down to get a closer look at them.

There were eleven eggs grouped together and one was guarded by their golden mother. One specific egg caught his eye, the so called Rejuvenating Rain Egg. He rose to his feet and turned to the mother's owner. "Excuse me," he began, "can I have one of these eggs?"

Why was she doing this? Yes he had been nice to her before but... that didn't mean he would let a mute like her have one of his darling gold's eggs... She gulped and stepped quietly into the stands, hidden behind the rest of the gathering crowd. She wished she could call out, tell him she had come, but her world was one of silence. She did dip her head in a polite bow to Loraketh as she moved, however. It was always important to give one's honours to the queen. Ah! She could see D'tri now!

She shuffled closer, slowly but surely, waiting patiently for a chance to pop in and 'say' hi. There it was! A moment where he wasn't talking. She reached out, and plucked at his sleeve, tugging lightly enough to not be rude but strong enough that he would hopefully notice her. She had a gift for him; well, a gift for him and Iona really. She had used her marks from her harpering to purchase a tiny wooden necklace in the likeness of D'tri's little gold. It was a thank you for his kindness the last time they had met. Se hadnt expected the hatching to begin today though! Hopefully he would like it!

D’tri sighed and shook his head. He wasn’t exactly sure how all this would work out. But one thing he was sure of, blood would be shed this day. I’m not getting anywhere near those eggs. It is bad enough I have to deal with her all the time. I don’t need her mad at me because I helped get rid of her eggs! You all just go knock yourselves out. He took a step back away from the sands, and all the people that had suddenly gathered.

Iona hissed loudly, and sinisterly as more and more people gathered around her and her eggs. She didn’t want anyone to have one, let alone near her precious eggs! She growled at each and every one of them. They weren’t getting her eggs without a fight! Then she noticed someone waggling their fingers in front of her. She hissed and turned towards it for a moment, then she felt it. Someone was taking one of her eggs!

Iona turned around suddenly and did her best to snap at the intruding fingers. She roared angrily at the loss of one of her eggs. Then she felt someone taking yet another egg from her. She whipped around just in time to see someone she didn’t know taking the smallest of her eggs. She hissed again, and reached out with her sharp little claws and tried to swat the egg right out of his hands. Once again she roared angrily when it didn’t work.

Iona moaned sadly when her mate finally showed up. She tried to explain to him how sad she was to be seeing people take her eggs. Then she looked at him curiously when he wrapped himself around her second largest egg. She chirped at him, and seemed to be asking, “What on Pern do you think you’re doing?” She hissed at him then, clearly giving him a warning to either get away from her egg, or get injured!

D’tri shook his head and sighed at his firelizard. If this is how a gold acts, what would a Topaz act like? That was something he was afraid to find out. He looked at all the people that were there now, and nodded his head. You go right ahead and help yourself. If you want one of those eggs, you get to go get it yourself. He smiled and sat down on the ground a little ways away from the hatching sands. He said what he meant, and meant what he said.

Not too long after all this had happened, the Mystic Forest Egg started to rock. Someone was upset, and he was needed to protect them! That’s right; the hatchling in this large egg was definitely male. Soon enough holes started to appear in the eggs shell. After a few seconds of rocking back and forth a bronze tail could be seen sticking out from one of the holes. That tail was soon followed by a large bronze body and head. But what set this bronze apart from all others are his wings.

The Mystic Forest Bronze gave his wings a few tentative flaps and looked around. He looked up and chirped at the man who’s lap he was sitting in. Yes, this would be the one to help him save all the damsels in distress! He chirped, and sent the man feelings of hunger and pride. Yes, these two would be the knights in shining armor all the damsel’s needed, and dreamt of. Surely this man would help him, right?

Not even two seconds after the Mystic Forest Bronze had chosen His, the Shivering Glass Egg started to rock. It didn’t rock as hard as its larger brother, or as furiously either. Instead it rocked calmly, almost rhythmically. After a few minutes of this rocking, cracks started to appear. Then, not too long after, a very small silver and orchid colored head popped out of the shell. The little Lazuli chirped curiously and looked around.

The Shivering Glass Lazuli looked up into the face of the man that had been holding her egg, and crooned. She finished breaking free of her shell, and curled her tail around his wrist. She was shivering, but she didn’t feel cold. She tilted her head to the side. She sent him gentle feelings of hunger, and love. Yes, this one would do nicely for her. He seemed to need a lot of cheering up, and that’s something she felt she would be good at.

D’tri smiled at the two firelizards that had already hatched from the eggs that had been stolen from his Iona. The first was a bronze, which was always a good sign. The next was the smallest Lazuli that he had ever seen. He laughed loudly when Iona finally got fed up with people just reaching their heads near her clutch, and placed herself so that she had completely hidden them all from sight.

Iona had tucked her wings around the eggs, scooping some of them up, and pushing them closer to her body. She felt her eggs would be safer this way, and she had a feeling that she would have a better chance at keeping those infuriating hands away from her clutch! She snorted, and looked rather smug about what she had done. She didn’t care who would be mad at her, these were her eggs, and she didn’t like it that they just kept getting stolen from her.

D’tri turned around when he felt someone tugging on his sleeve. Hey there Aridani. Come to see Iona’s hatching I take it? He remembered she couldn’t talk, so he hoped that by asking a yes or no question, she wouldn’t get too upset with him. He was still trying to figure out how to help her with her talking problem. But so far nothing had come to mind, and with Iona’s hatching happening, he really hadn’t had that much time to think about it.

(((OOC: If D'tri hadn't directly spoken to you about taking an egg it's ok. Just rp your character trying to take one from Iona, but don't forget. She has positioned herself so that she is laying over the eggs. With the eggs tucked closely under her wings. So your person might just get a few bites and scratches. Don't worry if you don't want your person to get mauled, I have a plan for my next post that should help keep the bloodshed down.)))

Mystic Forest Bronze

33^1/2in. {6.7in. when hatched}

Markings: CD9B1D Light Copper

Appearance:
This average sized male has a very regal appearance. His head is always carried high and proud, and his extra large wings are kept comfortably folded by his sides. His majestic tail his held proudly behind him like a banner. His bronze hide is a rusty copper bronze, where as the markings on his wings are a light copper in color. These small markings are in the shape of small leaves that seem to be floating on his wing membranes.

Personality:
Proud...that is the best way to describe this bronze. He seems to have a hero complex, where he thinks every female is a damsel in distress, and only can save them. This will get him into a lot of trouble with the females, because he will find ways to cause distress just so he can be the valiant prince coming to the rescue! He means well and all, but he just can't get it out of his head that not all females need rescuing.

Shivering Glass Lazuli

Markings: DA70D6 Orchid

Appearance:
This small female is one of the smallest of the bunch, but she makes up for that with her strange coloring. She is a bright silver in color, with orchid purple markings that look like the cracks in glass. She has a strange tendency to shiver as though she was cold, even if she's nice and cozy warm. That shaking makes her hide look like shivering glass that is ready to shatter at any second.

Personality:
She is a very gentle female who is as sweet as honey. She is also very calm, and relaxed, especially around young ones. She has a knack for making others smile, and laugh. That gives her great joy, especially when the one she has made happy is Hers. She is also a very relaxing presence to be around. This small female is surprisingly good at defusing tense situations, and stopping any fighting that might take place around her. She is just so innocent that some would say she is incorruptible, which might be true.

Almost as soon as he picked up the egg, it began to hatch. "No, no, Shard it, I don't need anoth--!" He tried to hand the egg off to someone else, anyone else, but by that point the little Lazuli had completely fallen out of her shell and was sending him feelings of tender love and hunger. "Shards." He muttered, shaking his head.

From nowhere, his other fire lizard, brown Munch, popped between to land on S'bel's shoulder. The brown crooned, clearly approving the new addition. S'bel glared at Munch, and then at D'tri. "Shard it, boy, I said I didn't want one!" As gruff as he sounded, however, he had already fished a meat-roll out from somewhere and was feeding it to the little Lazuli. "Shards..."
