Jethro walked up to Lobask but stepped back as the Wher hissed at him. He backed away and thought for a moment on what to do. Jethro wasn't going to give up easily as he saw Korvin and another boy both with a egg and walked over to Task and walked up to her hopping that she would see that he was worthy of one of her eggs. He looked around at all the new wherlings with their bonded and hoped that today he would get his bonded too and look as happy as the rest of them. Jethro waited patiently for Task to look into his mind.

For Theault It was the largest of Lobask's eggs that hatched first, the hot shell vibrating almost in a crazed state. It wanted out, it wanted free! The wheret inside hissed and gurgled fiercely, proclaiming its hatred for being confined. With a sudden squeak that certainly was meant as a roar, the egg burst into many shards, a green wheret shaking itself in the remains. Hmmf! This world was hers! Why were there no spectators to her glorious hatching? Barking, she stamped a foot at the nearby candidates and wherets that had newly hatched. Then her head turned to Theault and she hissed again. He would understand! He would give her everything she could ever need surely. Sniffing the boy's hand, the green snapped her jaws together in a definite click. He smelled odd, different from the rest. She liked that! Different was nothing to be ashamed of. Theault'sThesk say off with heads! If Theault and Thesk not welcome, good riddance! Feed Thesk now! Thesk hungry.Green Thesk Impressed to: Theault Rank: Green Size: 5ft at full growth Color Codes: Body 9fcd72, Legs/Eye-markings 285b06. Wings/Heart-markings e0eed0Personality: Head-strong, Vain, Aggressive, Blames others first, Prideful, Likes oddities, Stands up for what she believes in For Korvin Now, almost as an opposite of its green sibling, the smallest egg of the clutch was about to hatch. The egg tapped from inside out, chirping happily as it worked. Nothing to fear, it would be out soon, and its hunger would be dealt with as well. Another chip out, another chirp. It went like this for a while, and to some it might even seem as if the wheret inside was eating at its shell little by little. Except it wasn't really eating the shell, that would be gross. Finally one white claw hooked onto the edge of the shell, and a glowing blue, yellow eye pressed against the opening. Why hello there, what was this!?! The wheret chirped again and squeaked as she pressed her tiny wings against the sides of her egg. It gave way with a sigh-like sound and she gladly shook off the remnants from her hide. A white, a small one at that, and female. She glanced up at Korvin and tilted her head, waving her tail around behind her. Chirping again, she suddenly pranced in place and landed with her tail end up in the air and her head to the ground like a playing canine pup. She would fight this one, for he seemed to be strong and fierce as well! This one was worthy of her match, oh yes. She purred and came back to a sitting position, wrapping her long tail around her paws, again tilting her head. Korvin'sKosk think Korvin has secret. Kosk not tell though. She peered into his mind, her eyes turning to rainbows as she blinked. Kosk think Korvin dislikes Korvin'sKosk too. Kosk not tiny! Kosk mighty! Kosk win. She fluttered her pale wings and seemed to smile at the young man. White (f) Kosk Impressed to: Korvin Rank: White *identifies female* Size: 2.6 feet at full growth Color-Codes: Body f1e4f1Personality: Stead-fast, loyal, fierce, protective, matter-of-fact, fighter not lover, eager to impress others, hates to be called small Tid-bits: She has a habit of tilting her head and her tail is extra long and skinny. She's also incredibly small for a white. For Jethro Task grunted as she noticed another boy come her way. Tilting her head, she crooned. Yes, of course Lobask didn't want him. He was meant for one of hers. Rolling an egg his way, she hissed softly for him to take it, not bothering to enter his mind. She could tell this one was right already...strange as it was. Shaking her head, the female turned to the next candidate to enter her den. A female this time. She sniffed her as well, thinking for a moment and pushing her mind into hers for a bit to test the person inside. Shoveling, she turned around and scrounged through her remaining eggs. The female crooned when she found one that fit, and she rolled it to Naomi. Take now. Hatch soon. With that, Task followed Lobask's model and curled around her remaining eggs. -Jethro It laughs, oh how it laughs! It seems to creep up on you in the most uncertain times, then hides again in the shadows. There is always some parting advice though, if you could call the answering "feelings" it gives advice. - Naomi This egg seems quite odd really. First one thing, then another, it jumps around quite randomly. Why is a raven like a writing desk? What? It didn't think anything, what are you talking about now. Then it slips into darkness again and mumbled about scones and tea.

Jethro smiled at Task and bowed to her in thanks and took his egg over to a corner and sat with it between his legs. He looked it over and saw it was a pretty dark purple at the very top and bottom and a lighter shade in the middle with a white moon shape in the middle. He felt the egg move and felt the little baby inside and smiled as he watched a girl candidate go up to Task too and be presented with a egg. Jethro looked at her egg and thought to himself “I have never seen a egg like that before.” Jethro looked around and waited patiently for his egg to hatch and wondered what color and gender his Wher would be.

Korvin was growing impatient. He wanted his wher to come out, to show itself to him, to prove to him he hadn't wasted his time with this. Not far from him, Theault's eggs erupted , revealing a green, or at least he thought it was green... hard to tell in the dark since the hatchlings' hides were covered in goop. He ran a hand subconsciously over the shell as he watched around the room again, trying to make out the sizes of the other eggs in comparison to his own. Was his big? Small? It FELT small, but he knew, from lessons, that wher hatchlings were small but grew quickly. So did that mean his egg could still hatch something big? He needed something big and strong if he was to have a successful hunting partner.
He stopped his thoughts then.. staying still and quiet like he did when Gray caught scent of prey. What was that... noise? He turned his head slowly to look at the egg, carefully pulling it closer to his ear as he tried to figure out what exactly it was that was making the strange noise. A.. tapping? And was that chirping he heard? Certainly not, he decided. His strong, powerful partner would not be chirping in its egg! That was obviously someone else's egg, right? A few more moments of chirp-filled tapping followed, sounding more like the egg was being eaten than hatched, but then an opening appeared. A claw stuck out, but the movement had been too quick for Korvin to catch the colour and before he could peer in an eye appeared in the opening. He jumped, then looked around to make sure no one had seen before looking back down as the egg finally, finally gave way.
He blinked down stupidly at the.. the thing that came out as a mind reached his. Korvin'sKosk think Korvin has secret. Kosk not tell though. What? He had no secret! None that she knew anyways. He blinked again. Why did he think it was a she? She definitely hadn't told him... so why did he know? This entire ordeal was becoming a bit too unnerving. He watched her stupidly as she sat, noting briefly the mannerisms she showed in her actions. It was then that it dawned on him. She was sharding tiny! Gray's pups had been bigger! This was just wrong wasn't it? She wasn't supposed to be this tiny? No! Just No! She was supposed to be a bronze! A big, muscular, terrifying bronze! Not a.. a... pipsqueak! He eyes turned rainbow as he thought. Kosk think Korvin dislikes Korvin'sKosk too. Kosk not tiny! Kosk mighty! Kosk win.
Had she read his mind? Wha- oh right... He almost wanted to slap himself. The lessons had told them about that. The mind link. So she really was his then... He sighed. She was small... too small. He picked her up, rather amazed and annoyed at the fact that he could pick her up with one hand. She fluttered her wings again as she settled herself on his hand, then with a tilt of her head, looked at for the first time from eye level.
Shards... Korvin thought to himself. Why did she have to be so stupidly cute too.

Zaekrin was not the first to arrive... But he hoped he was not the last. He was busy pulling his shirt on as he attempted to leave his room and head to where the wher eggs were hatching. His little pup, Zeus, watched him go curiously and soon got up to follow. Zaekrin could be a silly human. He needed his direction after all. It was only right. Zaekrin didn't notice that Zeus was attempting to follow him right away, but when he did he turned with a frown. "Zeus, you can't come. Go back and stay." The pup looked at him and gave a huff before settling himself in the doorway. This boy was ridiculous. Did he really think he could make it without him?
Zaekrin took a deep breath and stepped into the cavern, hoping that he would go to the mother who had his egg. If he had an egg. He surely hoped that he did. He was a little wary as he approached the greens and their clutches. He bowed to them, though never took his eyes off of them. What was proper etiquette in this case? He really didn't know. Shards! Somehow he was certain that Zeus must know better than he did. He took a deep breath and waited. His egg... It must be ready to hatch soon... Right?
He bit his lip and waited to see if either would speak to him and indicated what it is they wished him to do. He stood tall, straight, feeling confident despite what his appearance might indicate.

Naomi braced herself when she felt the wher push into her mind. It wasn't something she was sure she could get used to, but if she did get an egg, she supposed she would have to get used to it. She took a deep breath, and calmed herself when the wher turned away from her, and started looking through her remaining eggs. Maybe I will get an egg after all. Her hopes started lifting as the thought drifted through her mind. She watched the female, with deliberate patience.
Naomi smiled softly as she watched Task roll an egg towards her. Thank you very much. I promise to do my best to take care of your child Task. She wasn't sure if she was actually supposed to say something or not, so she decided it was better to air on the side of caution. She gently picked up the egg, and jumped when she felt something that seemed like a thought coming from the egg. Well, this was definitely something the candidate master hadn't taught them about.
She shook her head, and carried the egg carefully out of the dens. She looked smugly at Korvin who seemed to have impressed a white wher. She walked out onto the sands, and sat down, carefully setting her strange egg on the hot sands. She couldn't wait to see what would come out of the egg, and she hopped it was something higher ranked than a white. From what she had seen, Korvin's white had been teeny tiny, and she hopped that, whatever came from her egg, was much, much bigger.

Shenzi sighed as she started to eat her very late night snack. She hadn't eaten much at dinner, and was now suffering for it. She ate the small meal she had in front of her pretty quickly and was quite satisfied with the way it made her meal. That's when she heard people talking about whers, and hatching eggs. She was intrigued, and wondered if a wher hatching was as exciting as a dragon hatching, and decided to go see for herself, right after she put her stuff away.
Shenzi slowly made her way to where the wher hatching was going on, and wondered if someone would let her see one of their eggs. She didn't think she'd be allowed in to see what the mothers had hidden in their dens, so she decided to stay on the outskirts, and just watch. She smiled at the wherlings that already hatched, and her eyes widened when she saw what looked like two new colors, and wondered if there would be more of them, like the dragons.

For Zaekrin Task sniffed when another candidate came in. She had one egg left, just one, and she thrusted it at him without even probing her mind. TASK DONE! With that, she barreled past the boy and out into the night air. TASK FREE!!!! ....what you look at? The green growled at the nearest candidate who was looking at her funny, then nudged her handler until the young woman finally gave up and went to sit in the stands with Task curled around her feet. This egg, the largest of Task's clutch, often rocks back and forth, chittering to itself. Yes, that's right, it emits a sound. However...something seems missing. Where's its other half? For Naomi It was her egg that hatched first, the medium sized oval cracking open with a sudden wooshing mess. A blue head popped out then, a body following. Shaking itself, the wheret looked up at Naomi, and wagged his tail. Well, well, well, fiddly-dinks and wherry-poppers! What did he have here? The blue sniffed Naomi's shoe, crooning happily. Shoes, shoes, lovely shoes! Running around the hunter's legs, the blue finally skidded to a stop and tilted his head. What was that he heard? Oh, nothing. He looked back up at Naomi again, jumping into her mind with a gleeful squeal. Naomi inte...inter....cool! Naomi cool! Naomi's...hmmm...Naomi know Nask's name? Nask not know Na...oh. Nask know Nask's name now! Chirping, the blue scrambled up Naomi's leg and gurgled like a baby. Well...he was a baby. Impressed to: Naomi Rank: Blue Size: 5.4ft at full growth Color Codes: 709ad1Personality: Random, Fun-loving, Inquisitive, Childish, Forgetful, Likes to run For Jethro Well, now it was the other's turn, and it was just in time too. For what? No one could really be sure, it just knew that it needed to be seen now. The egg shook, quietly though unlike the previous hatchling. It was all about mystery. Ah yes, there, light. A blue nose poked through suddenly, and out popped an equally blue head. Strange, how very strange this thing was that was near him. Does Jethro know? This, or that? That, or this? Jethro'sJesk know, but Jethro no know because Jesk not tell. Jesk never tell. With that, the blue walked away, slipping into the shadows easily, with only the glint of his eyes to show where he was. Then, just as suddenly, he popped back out and returned. No worry. Jesk never really leave. Or does Jesk? Jethro no know, Jesk never tell.Impressed to: Jethro Rank: Blue Size: 5.2ft at full growth Color Codes: Body 0051c0, Markings 080d80Personality: Mysterious, clever, wayward, quiet, watchful, likes taunting others Inside Lobask's cave, her final egg began to shake. A chirping came from inside then, so soft that barely no one could here. Where was she? It was so..dark. What a strange, strange place indeed. Just as that voice had said. Oh, was there light here? The wheret sniffed the entrance to the den nearby where her mother was. Her mother was blocking it though. Oh no, she was too big...if only she were smaller. Then she could get through to the wonderland beyond!

Zaekrin blinked and caught the egg that was thrust at him. And then the mother was gone and on her way. Well... Maybe that was normal. "Um... thanks....?" he said somewhat softly after here before bowing to the other mother again and turning to leave with his egg, gently stroking the shell as he headed to the stands and sat, waiting. It was surreal. Very surreal. He wondered, briefly, if this was anything like what his siblings had felt at their dragon hatchings... of course... it had to be different. It had to be quite different. The way they were carried out was different than wher hatchings. In fact... in a way... a Wher's hatching, though often bloody, seemed to be much... well... He wasn't sure how to put it.
So instead he turned his attention down to the rather large multi colored egg he held, stroking a hand over it's shell... "It's you and me," he whispered to it, putting the egg down near his feet and standing next to it, too anxious to sit. He frowned ever so slightly. It was chittering and rocking... but would it hatch soon? Perhaps even now. It was hard to be patient in such situations, but at time, one just... well... just had to wait. He felt his hands ringing together of their own accord. Wait... and wait he would. He ran a hand through his hair briefly. He hadn't forgotten tradition. He hadn't forgotten what he had learned. Well... Then... wait. Just wait. He took a deep breath and watched again. It was very unlike him to be nervous in any way shape or form.

Here they were, the last two eggs...well egg and wheret, ready to appear. One from the egg, the other from the ground. If only she were able to get out. Yes, she. The wheret inside the caverns still chirped unhappily and finally decided to just make a run for it. Her mother, poor thing, was in the way, but she squirmed and fidgeted past Lobask finally and out into the moonlight. It was another red hatchling. This one though was a more pinkish red color than blood red. Just as before, the observers there were holding their breathes, ready for this one to turn savage like the other garnet hued dragons...but like its sister, it was perfectly tame. Actually, she was more than tame, she was curious and playful. Though not as much as her sibling of the same color, this ruby hatchling was still running around the sands trying to find Hers. That's when she looked up into the stands and squeaked a happy bark. Taking the steps by two's, the ruby wheret finally made it to Shenzi and pounced onto her lap, putting her two forepaws onto her chest. Shenzi'sShesk free finally. Shesk and Shenzi explore wonderland? Wonder all around, Shesk like, Shesk not scared....Shesk hungry though. Shenzi feed Shesk? The ruby sniffed the air and then snapped her head down to look at Shenzi's wrist. Her claws had scratched her there, blood welling up slightly from the wound. Well, what do you know? Looks like Shesk took care of the no knife thing. One, two, three...nothing happened. Four, five, six...seconds passed, still nothing. Then, with a sudden burst it shattered the shell and popped out, the orange hued yellow and gray hide shimmering in the moonlight. It was another Citrine male like its previous sibling, this one slightly smaller. Tilting its head, it looked around, wondering where all of its clutchmates had gone off to. It was lonely, it wanted its other half! Whining, the citrine hatchling rolled around on the ground, throwing a mini-tantrum for a while until finally it stopped. Fine, it'd have to find a new playmate then....sniffling, it looked around again. No, no, no, no, no....NO! Huffing, the citrine wheret plopped down onto the sands and cried out again. Where was His?!?!? As his eyes opened again, the wheret locked eyes with Zaekrin. Oh! Zaekrin'sZaekrinsk see now. Zaekrinsk not alone, Zaekrin here for Zaekrinsk! Wagging its tail, the citrine tried to snuggle against the boy's foot. Naomi looked her medium sized egg over, and wondered what would hatch from it. It looked like it would be something much larger than what that pain in her leg got, so she would definitely have to rub that into his face. An evil smirk appeared on her face as she eagerly watched her egg, and waited for it to hatch. It didn't seem like she had to wait very long when her egg suddenly opened up with a whooshing noise, and became surrounded by sticky egg goop.
Naomi's eyes widened when she saw a large blue head pop out of what was left of the egg, then the rest of the large blue body followed. Well aren't you a handsome fellow. She smiled at her new companion, and watched as he sniffed her shoe. She shrugged, and just wrote it off to him getting used to her scent. You really are an energetic boy. She spoke as she watched the young wherling run around her legs. The look he gave her when he sat down was just priceless in her eyes.
Naomi jumped in surprise when the young male jumped into her mind, and squealed. Naomi inte...inter....cool! Naomi cool! Naomi's...hmmm...Naomi know Nask's name? Nask not know Na...oh. Nask know Nask's name now! The young male really was a strange one. Then he started climbing up her leg, gurgling like some sort of baby. Well, she would definitely have her hands full training this little one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shenzi was surprised at all all the activity. It really was an interesting thing to watch. She smiled as she looked at all the different wher's and their new handlers. They must all be very proud. She smiled at all of them, and wondered what it was like to feel the little things talking to you inside your mind, and to never be alone again. She shook her head, that wasn't something the Master Harper should be thinking about, she should be heading back to bed.
Shenzi sighed and started to get ready to go when she heard some sort of commotion coming from the hatching sands. She looked around her when she heard one of the hatchlings bark, and wondered who the little pink thing was barking at. Then she saw it start bounding up the stairs to the stands and her eyes widened when she saw the pink wherling jumped into her lap, and started talking to her. What a sensation that was, something Shenzi had never thought was possible for her.
Shenzi'sShesk free finally. Shesk and Shenzi explore wonderland? Wonder all around, Shesk like, Shesk not scared....Shesk hungry though. Shenzi feed Shesk? Shesk sniffed the air and then snapped her head down to look at Shenzi's wrist. Her claws had scratched her there, blood welling up slightly from the wound. Well, what do you know? Looks like Shesk took care of the no knife thing. Shenzi hadn't even realized that she had been scratched until the young female started blooding her. She would have to get that looked at later, but for now, she was happy to spend time with her new life partner.
