Jillalene gave f’lon a smile and V’lkan a smaller one. Why did it seem like the moody amethyst rider was happier to see her than the garnet rider, when she’d never had much interaction at ALL with F’lon. It made no sense to her.
It makes no difference lenemine. We have a hatching to watch and a candidate to cheer on.
He settled on a ledge toward the back close to akira’s blue oridith, Crooning a greeting to his brother. There was a new color, Ebony, they called it, followed by a little … female? White? Followed then by a very lazy and chubby blue who looked like he wanted nothing more than to sleep, and then the other blue came into the world. Kelath watched with approval as there entered the little malnourished looking terror. He crooned sweetly in His’s mind.
I knew I would not be the only blue here that would have astronger personality than my brother’s mine! I like this little one!
Jillalene gave no record that she heard her large blue other than a mental tinkling laugh over their link. She folded her hands in her lap and continued to watch and pray that one of the younglings chose andra. She’d worked so hard for this! With scattered disappointed thoughts of the man she was sitting beside, which she wanted to poke in the side and demand what was wrong with him.
******
G’lwein laughed from his place in the stands just a row or two above where J’degar was sitting. Gormyth was settled on a ledge across the sands from syphrealth, watching the hatching with interest and amusement with the lazy little blue flopping back onto the sands. Did his know what His was getting into with taking on a group of weyrlings? Ah well, Syphraelth’s own would help and so would Amiiths, he was sure of it.
“I know exactly what you’re thinking, Gar. How on earth are you going to manage your tongue during your time as a weyrlingmaster eh?”
His humor was goodnatured, and he winced slightly, reaching down and tugging a blue grey tabby’s claws off of his breeches. The cat had found him in the weyrbowl yesterday, then proceeded to follow him everywhere. Even the weyr he shared with his mate wasn’t safe from the little terror. A thought popped into his head. Not many knew this about the other man, but G’lwein, who’d known him for so long and been wingbrothers with him, knew… he loved Cats. A plan formed of how he could get rid of his unwanted companion.
“J’degar! I have a gift for you!” He picked up the cat under its upper arms, and marveled that the cat didn’t struggle in the least, but simply hung there like a stuffed toy. ****
Alessandra watched with adoration as one dragon hatched then another. The innocent egg was the sweetest looking and acting thing she’d ever seen. It was followed by the little chubby blue, and she couldn’t help but adore it either.
The little blue reminded her of a child that used to come to her bakery every week. With little chubby cheeks and a sweet tooth. She smiled and shook her head lost in her memories for a moment before there was a cracking sound, and she watched with wide eyes as the next hatchling made it onto the scene. The little blue was very… it looked like he was malnourished. Like the other blue had gotten everything that was meant for him. It didn’t seem to have adversely affected this little one though, aside from making him a very angry little dragon.
She gasped and took a step back when the little thing turned it’s attention to the candidates and the jaws snapped mere inches from where her left leg had been only a few second s before. This was a hatching. Eventful and dangerous, but oh so worth it. She smiled congratulating Yanoya and nudged the girl toward the little blue. They would make a good pair, she was sure of it!

Yanoya watched with some disdain as the first blue decided to flop back down. He was so... lazy. And then of course, his malnourished looking brother came onto the scene. He was a bit of a terror. She looked towards the chubby blue as he started to speak and she couldn't help the smile that stole her features as he picked her. "Well, Hyselhoeth. You better not ALWAYS expect me to walk all the way over there for you. Because I won't," she said with a slight frown as she walked over to the chubby blue and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Now if you want something to eat, it isn't coming to you... so..." Hyselhoeth snorted. I am not dense, YanoyaMine. She had her arms wrapped around his neck by this point, but hte blue was now heaving himself to his feet to walk to the feeding tables with His. "We should clean you up." Indeed. This sticky stuff is not all that comfortable. Oh... He may not want to work, but Yanoya loved to. She would probably have her hands full trying to make him. Though... already she could tell just how intelligent he was. The love that had blossomed in her in just seconds was almost frightening... and yet... Once they reached the feeding stations, Hyselhoeth simply plopped himself down again. "You are something else, My darling blue." He rumbled his amusement. So are you, Lady of My Dreams. She grinned at that and wrapped her arms around him like one might expect a lover to embrace their long lost love. She kissed his hide gently. "Wait here and I'll get some food." He rumbled. That wasn't hard. "And then we'll clean you up." Her ebony flitter, Paxis decided to appear at that point, inspecting her new lazy blue companion. ---Samara--- Samara grinned. Well an interesting hatching this was shaping into. And one lazy blue off the sands. "You two will have your hands full trying to get that one to work," she said, appearing from seemingly no where beside her weyrmate. "Oh, do you finally have a home for our little mischief maker, my love?" She wrapped her arms around Gl'wein's middle, standing so that her head was under his arm and her head against his chest. Amiith rumbled in amusement from where he had chosen to sit beside Soheath. A clutch full of opposites thus far, wouldn't you say, Soheath?

Another egg was cracking open explosively, and Bryden turned his attention to the Poisoned Apple egg and the blue that hatched from him, taken aback by the blue's aggressive nature.
He almost shouted when he saw it snap at the other blue, and the candidate took a single step toward the two hatchlings before he remembered they were not to get in the way of the dragons or try to force Impression, and Bryden made himself stop and watch...which quickly turned into him backing away as the second blue turned his attention from his sibling to the candidates.
After a few moments, things seemed to calm down slightly and Bryden watched as the first blue moved to the candidates and found his rider among the female candidates. Bryden mainly watched the rest of the not-yet-hatched eggs, though he kept a wary eye on that second blue. He was pretty certain that one was not the dragon for him, but he didn't want any trouble.

The entire time that the hatching had been going on, a war had been waged within the depths of The Unthinkable Happenstance Egg. On the one hand it was rooting for the hatchlings to find Theirs and get free, to stop the anger on the sands caused by the newest blue. The other side though hissed. It wanted blood! It wanted everything to pay! The sound was an irritable thing, echoing louder and louder until everyone in the stands and among the clutch could hear it.
Finally, it quieted. Who had won? A sudden crack rang out, and the two halves split open. From the egg, a pale tail snaked out. It was long and graceful, slim in proportion and most definitely feminine. A moment of awe came after as the head popped up, the equally graceful form opening her wings carefully. She knew the world couldn't be bad! She knew the world couldn't be filled with evil! The amethyst crooned, a sweet bell-like sound. Stepping forth from her shell, she looked at the candidates, ignoring the other hatchlings.
Hers was there, she knew he was there. A'ealMine! Oh My Love! Your Oddeth wants you now! She crooned, her eyes swirling rainbows as the little Istan boy ran forward to try and meet her. However, behind the amethyst another form rose up. Its hide was pitch black, and along it there were markings of a dark purple. The strangest thing, was that she in everyway mirrored her sister, for the thing that came forth was most definitely a girl. She hissed and flared her wings, her eyes spinning a dark red. This wouldn't do, how dare her sister be happy!
Darting forward, the black and purple hatchling went not for the amethyst, but for the rider. Pouncing on the boy despite both Oddeth and Loraketh's protests, the glowing dragonet made quick work of her sister's punishment. Raising her head, blood dripping from her jaws, she hissed a croon as Oddeth keened and shook her head, blinking between. That served her right! Loraketh roared, her wings flaring as she shook her head. A mother did not harm her children though! The dragonet chortled knowingly.
Her tail snaked around her front feet as she flicked her wings to free themselves of the blood. Well, that was interesting. Her markings glowed...strange, but nice. Looking at the candidates, the dragonet hissed and began to stalk toward to them. Now which one would pay next? She was so close to continuing her chaos, so close to...what?!? The dragonet's head snapped around as she glared at the white female. Had she not rid herself of her sister? Yet no, this one was not her twin. This one was another, but she would still taste her fangs as well.
Grabbing the white, the dragonet tore at her wings finally letting go after Loraketh shoved her away. Screaming back, the dragonet tossed her head. There was nothing wrong with her! She was beauty and terror and chaos all in one, and she was not ashamed of that. Everything came to an end, and she was what dictated that end! Oh yes mother, I am everything you wish you could lock up inside of yourself. Her words were both the sweetest sound and the harshest at once, and they echoed throughout the surrounding area. It has only just begun.
On the opposite side of the sands, the Ebony hatchling keened at the loss of its sibling. Everything had started so wonderfully! Bowing its head in shame at not being able to help, only to wish, he nudged the maimed form of his white sister. He would get her help, but he had to go to one of those Pink Things first. Running over, he tossed his head side to side as he looked for His. Oh, the right one had to be in here somewhere....There you are RayasMine! You have to help your Virath! My sister has done something horrible, and I don't know what to do. I just want everything to be okay, can't you help me with that? You have dreams too, maybe if we wish hard enough it will just all go away?!?
Ebony Virath Impressed To: Rayas (Akira) Pronunciation: Veer-ah-th Rank:Ebony Size: 23.7 Feet Color Codes: Base: 232323
Appearance: Like many of the new colors, Virath is a perfect example of an Ebony dragon. They are between Blues and Whites in size, ranging from a small Blue to a Large White. Virath himself is about 23.7 ft. He has long proportions, and seems lanky and thin all the time. You will never see this dragon have any sort of additional fat to him.
Personality: Dreamer, loving and unrealistic; these all describe Virath. The embodiment of hope, he's a fleeting thing; here one moment and gone the next. Though warm while around, he is incapable of acting on his own and will sooner hide away than fight someone. If he is backed though, he will gladly stand for what he believes in. Besides this, Virath often can be found getting lost in thought. He’ll apologize afterwards, but he can’t help it. He likes to think about what things could be like, especially if he wasn’t so shy. However, he is shy…very shy. He likes people when they come to him, but if he’s the one having to start a conversation, no way no how. This is especially with females. *If you’ve seen Big Bang Theory, he’s like Raj. He can’t talk to girls easily unless he’s “drunk” on flightlust.*
Mind-Voice: I love you so much, you're just what I wanted. Oh...I'm Virath by the way. Happy, and yet sorrowful at the same time, Virath's voice is that of the old man thinking wistfully about something. Yet, it's in a youngster's voice. It's amazingly high-pitched for what one might expect as well.
Why: You have hopes too Mine, and I know that you understand me when I say I want to do things. You'll be there to push me into the fray, and you'll never leave me. Of this I am absolutely sure. You want to prove something, and I want to help you, together we will make all our wishes come true.

Daria watched the Hatching with mild interest. A Blue Impressed and then several other colors Hatched. A second Blue made a snap at the first Blue and then an Ebony and White Hatched. What? A FEMALE white? Daria was stunned. She had never heard of a gendered White before and was curious to see what happened with her. Then a pink like Dragon Hatched and went after the White. The sound coming from the White was horrible. Without thinking Daria stepped forward towards the White and ignoring everything else around her. She ignored Loraketh, she ignored the Hatchling that hurt the White. Daria's focus was on the White herself. She knelt and laid a gentle hand on the White. "Poor thing. Its alright. Your prettier anyway. Go find your lifemate and get yourself looked at. You deserve a chance at life." Daria stood and backed away. She started to turn and head back to her stop. What the sharding happened?
Daria was not one to show compassion, but seeing that White being hurt like that was a bit too much for the Candidate. She wanted to hurt something, but she kept her anger under control. The pink like Dragon had been punished by her mother. She had also seen a boy being killed by the same Hatchling and a scowl lit her face. "Sharding Dragon." It had ripped a Weyrling pair apart. It was not fair that the pretty Amethyst and her Rider didn't get a chance at life. Daria threw a dirty look at the murderous Dragon, but kept her distance. She was not going to get in the way of those claws and she was sorry for whoever would get her.

It was going so well, at first. The Unthinkable Happenstance egg broke open to reveal twin dragons, an amethyst and a darker purple-black, and Bryden blinked in surprise. He grinned when the pale amethyst female found her rider, one of the male candidates, almost immediately.
The only one who did not seem happy about it was the amethyst's sister. There was a hiss and a flaring of wings, and before Bryden or anyone else could react, the dark hatchling pounced on the amethyst's rider, dragging him to the ground. Bryden stepped back, swallowing the bile that rose in his throat at the sight and smell of the boy's spilled blood, and bit back a scream even as the pretty little amethyst keened and disappeared between.
Garnets and accidental maulings were one thing, but what sort of dragon deliberately sought out the rider of another and killed them in cold blood? It was obvious the dark hatchling had done so deliberately, and even now showed no remorse. Loraketh reared up and roared; for a moment Bryden thought she would take care of the rogue hatchling for good (something Bryden thoroughly approved of, seeing what she'd done), but no. Apparently her maternal instincts were too strong.
He stared helplessly as the hatchling turned to attack another of her siblings, the white that had hatched earlier, maiming the hatchling's wings. All of a sudden, Bryden's fear turned to anger, and he stalked forward even as another girl rushed to the aid of the white.
"Why doesn't someone put that thing down?" he demanded to no one in particular. He barely noticed the Impression of the Ebony.

Finally, another egg had hatched. It was another one of the ones he had touched. He remembered that egg, and how… unfortunate… the feelings had been. He was far from happy when the little Blue jumped on its lazy brother, but he was not particularly surprised either. Really, though, that was hardly the first reaction one should have after having hatched. While it almost looked as if the larger Blue had taken all of the smaller one’s nourishment, he knew that was not actually possible, so he figured it was some sort of rivalry thing, or the Blue was just a cranky creature. How unfortunate. He did not expect the dragonets to be dignified upon hatching, but honestly, they should show a little more class than that. Oh, but the show was not over yet. After pouncing angrily on his brother, the Blue stalked over to the Candidates, tail lashing and teeth snapping. As the ivory fangs came near him, Aarin did not budge. He did not even blink. It was not the first time than an animal had tried to assert its dominance over him, and Aarin knew how to deal with that. You did not back down. You stood your ground. If necessary, you show dominance back. He was certainly not going to be bullied. Aarin was patient and was willing to let most things slide, but as a Beastcrafter, he was not going to let himself be pushed around by another species. He stood quietly, eyes half-lidded, and watched the Blue walk away. Whoever Impressed that dragon was bound to have a handful. A life-full, even. His eyes crinkled with amusement. At least he appeared to not have hurt the other dragon who… huh. A girl (Yanoya, he believed) was walking over to him. Was the laziest of the bunch actually the first to Impress? Why, it appeared he was! Well, lookee that. Patience was not needed with the thing after all. That was pretty joyous!
Well, aside from the little hiccough that was the nasty other Blue, this Hatching seemed to be going rather smoothly. How delightful. An experience definitely worth remembering. In fact, another egg was hatching. He had heard strange noises for a while emanating from the area, but he never really made the connection between them and the egg until it stopped and the egg began to hatch. But from the oddly noisy egg, a beautiful little Amethyst spilled out. It was another one of those odd colors, but this one had a little more precedent than the small black one, and it wasted no time. One of the other Candidates immediately ran up to meet the small thing, and he could tell that the Amethyst had Impressed immediately. That was pretty sweet. They would be happy together. But… what was that? Had another dragon hatched while he was not watching? Quick as a flash, a black and violet dragon came up out of nowhere and attacked not the new hatchling, but her newly Impressed. Aarin watched with abject horror as the black dragon tore at the young man. Blood spattered everywhere. The dragonet raised her head triumphantly, blood dripping from her maw. It made Aarin sick. The purple dragon keened that awful noise of loss before disappearing altogether with the tell-tale snap of air rushing in to fill the space she once was. His hand covered his mouth. Awful- completely, utterly awful. How could that dragon…? Just as the Blue had not been satisfied with his first attack, neither was this new black dragonet. She pounced forth on the small white, dwarfing the thing and tearing at her wings. Aarin’s hand went from covering his mouth to clutching it. That… despicable monster! He heard her words cut across his disgusted mind as she spoke openly to her mother. One of his fellow Candidates wondered aloud why no one was taking care of that monster, and while Aarin wanted to agree, he could not quite bring himself to want her dead. Just… decommissioned.
Shard it, and he had been hoping for a happy Hatching.

The Innocent White crooned when her mother nuzzled her. She crooned sweetly when more of her siblings hatched, though she didn't move far from her mother’s side. She stood and walked a little closer to the Unthinkable Happenstance Egg when it cracked. She wanted to see what would come from the egg, and who her new sibling would be. Little did she know, getting closer was the worst thing she could have ever done. She wagged her tail and trilled a happy greeting to her amethyst sister, and crooned when her sibling had found Hers.
The Innocent White hadn't seen another hatchling come from the egg, but knew something was wrong when she heard something hiss. She backed away quickly, but stumbled over her own paws as she tried to get back to her mother’s side. Thankfully she had not moved very far from Loraketh’s side, because almost as soon as she righted herself, her evil sister turned on her, and tore at her wings. She squealed and as soon as she was free, tucked herself against her mother’s side. She moaned and looked at her torn up wings.
The Innocent White looked up when she heard something approaching. She squealed once again when she felt something touching her. Oh no she was going to get hurt again! She quickly backed away from the touch, and tried to understand what was going on. She must have done something wrong to upset her larger sister, and then this two legged thing had come and touched her. She was practically white with fear…pun intended. She was shaking, and her injured wings hung limply at her side. Oh how she wished she understood what had happened.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was after all this commotion that the Point of No Return Egg decided to hatch. It shook rapidly, and cracks appeared on the red shell. Soon a dark red snout could be seen poking out of one of the many holes that had appeared on the surface of the egg. After the snout withdrew itself back into the egg, the egg broke apart and with a resounding roar, the garnet hatchling stepped forth. He looked around him, and looked at his injured sister. He didn't understand what had transpired while he had been trapped inside of his egg.
The Point of No Return Garnet studied his little sister, and then looked over at his other female sibling. She had obviously been the one to cause so much pain and chaos. He turned and walked a little ways away from the rest of his siblings, even the un-hatched ones. When he felt as though he was far enough away from all the trouble, he turned and sat down. He looked over at all the candidates, and wondered if His was there. He would know soon enough though, of that he was certain. He would take his time though, and decide carefully.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tiris watched as another blue hatched, this one seemed a lot meaner than the last one. He shook his head, and silently willed the hatchling not to be the one for him. He didn't want to have such a mean life-partner; he wanted one like the first blue. But that wasn't the hatchling for him either. He clapped congratulations to the young woman who had impressed the lazy looking blue. He would have to make sure to go and see her after the hatching had finished, and formally congratulate her on her accomplishment.
Then something bad had happened, something that Tiris had missed as he watched the new weyrling pair. He quickly turned around to see that a dark female had attacked a young boy who had obviously impressed to the lighter colored amethyst. He was appalled, and couldn't help the sick feeling that rose at the back of his throat. He paled when he saw the dark amethyst attack yet another of it’s siblings. This time it was the small white that got attacked. His sickness turned to anger and he wanted to scream at the top of his lungs.
The white had done nothing to the amethyst, and there for didn't deserve the treatment it received. He held himself back though, he knew what might happen if he moved from where he was. He watched as a female candidate walked over to the white, and felt sad that the little thing seemed petrified of everything now. He wasn't sure if the little female would between or not, but he prayed to Faranth that she would find her rider, and quickly be seen to by a healer. He also prayed that the girl that had gone to touch the white, wouldn't be hurt to seriously.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayas smiled when he saw Iirla wave back at him, and D’rian did to. So he did have friends among the Trelis riders after all. He chuckled when he heard Izanycorth’s voice inside his head. Would you tell her thank you for me Izanycorth?[/b] He was glad that she felt so certain that he would impress. That was something he himself highly doubted would happen. He didn't feel he deserved to impress a Trelis hatchling, especially after what his father had done to one of the eggs. He shook his head, there would be time for that later.
Rayas turned around and paled at what he saw. He had missed the impression of the first blue, and the hatching of a second. Bur more seriously, he had missed the hatching, and killing of another hatchling. But he had turned around just in time to see the small white get mauled by a larger female he believed was an amethyst. He didn't understand what was going on. Had the white done something to upset the larger female?! He shook his head and started to walk forward when he felt something inside of his head.
There you are RayasMine! You have to help your Virath! My sister has done something horrible, and I don't know what to do. I just want everything to be okay; can't you help me with that? You have dreams too; maybe if we wish hard enough it will just all go away?!? Virath ran over to Rayas, and nudged him gently. Rayas didn't know what to do now. He had impressed a new color of dragon, something he had thought was only for those people who had earned it. He hadn't earned the right to impress.
Please Mine, we must help my sister! Virath once again nudged his rider, this time a little more forcibly. That’s when Rayas snapped back into reality. Come on Virath, we have to get off the sands if we are going to be able to help anyone. The newly impressed weyrling quickly led his dragon off the hot sands. He didn't know what he could do for the little white, but he did know that he had to take care of his own ebony dragon. Virath came before anything now; he had to make his little blackish dragon proud.
Virath crooned sadly as he followed His off the sands. He didn't want to leave his sister, but His was right. The young weyrling kept looking back at the sands and his sisters, crooning sadly each time. By the time the two of them had finally left the sands, another of the ebony’s siblings had hatched. Rayas gulped loudly when he saw the garnet hatchling, and felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. From what he had learned Garnet’s were bloodthirsty monsters, and he wanted to keep Virath well away from the red hatchling.
Rayas quickly grabbed a bucket of food for his dragon. He knelt down next to the little ebony, and smiled gently. Here Virath, you can't do anything with an empty belly. His voice was gentle as he spoke to the hatchling, after all, they had just seen his sister kill one sister, than attack another. So he couldn't really blame the young male for being upset. He didn't know what the two of them could do about it, and he really didn't want to push his luck with Loraketh either. After all, it seemed like the golden mother was upset enough as it was.
Virath crooned sadly, but ate was his rider handed him. He wasn't even aware of what he was doing until he almost bit Rayas' hand. Hey, you might want to wake up there little buddy. Again, his voice was gentle, but this time it was a little more firm. He didn't want to lose a hand just because his dragon wasn't paying attention. The little dark colored dragon chirped in surprise, but crooned when His rubbed his eye ridges. Raymine, why did my sister attack my other sister? His voice was full of hope and confusion as he asked the question.
I'm not sure Virath. Though I'm sure Loraketh and the other adults will take care of it. Rayas smiled and handed his dragon another piece of meat. He didn't want to think about what had happened on the sands, and could you blame him? He kept picturing Virath as the little amethyst, and himself as the little boy who had been mauled. He shook his head, there was something wrong with that little female, but what could him and Virath do about it? They were only weyrlings, and from what he could tell, not very high ranking ones either.
Virath, I think I have a way to cheer us up. Rayas smiled brightly as he spoke. If he could just cheer up his dragon, then maybe he'd feel a little better. Virath tilted his head to the side and chirped. There is someone up in the stands, someone special you see. I would like you to contact them, and tell them that we impressed. Their name is Xaemia. He did his best to speak clearly enough, and even pointed at the girl, for the little male to understand him. After all, he didn't want his dragon contacting the wrong person and upsetting someone.
Virath crooned and wagged his tail happily. He looked over to where His had pointed and reached out for the mind of the girl he had indicated. Virath wasn't particularly comfortable with talking to this strange girl, but His seemed to think it was a good idea. Xaemia, RayasMine has asked me to tell you that we impressed, and that he would like to you come down to the feeding area to meet with us. He shook himself all over after he finished relaying the message. Rayas scratched the young dragonet gently, and smiled.
Thank you Virath, I'll treat you to something special after this, I promise. Rayas' deep voice was sweet and full of pride for the little male. Virath stood and danced around His at the mention of getting a treat. That had meant that he had done something to please His. Had they accomplished a dream? Oh he hopped so, so very much. He crooned and trilled happily before sitting down next to his, and eating the last bits of meat excitedly. Oh this was turning out to be quite an eventful evening after all.
---Iirla and Xaemia--- Iirla was on her feet the moment that the little ebony picked her brother. "YES!~ RAYAS!" She didn't even wait as she rushed down towards the feeding area, but was stopped when Xaemia gave a little gasp and stood. "He wants me to come down there. Iirla, Keegan?" Iirla turned back and took Xae's hand. "Come on! we'll go together!" Xaemia knew something was wrong. Someone or multiple someone's had been hurt. Oh! Rayas! She had to get down to Rayas. "Can we go faster...?" she asked the gold rider nervously. "Sure..." Iirla replied. She lead her faster and carefully down to where Rayas was and, as soon as she reached them, hugged her brother. "I knew you could do it!" And with that Xaemia was right there, wrapping her arms around the new Weyrling. "Congratulations, Rayas!" She smiled. "I Virath! It's nice to meet you! I'm Xaemia." She smiled, though she wasn't quite looking at the ebony dragon. "Is it alright if I touch you...?" she asked reaching out towards the little black dragonet, though she couldn't see him. She was happy to be there with Rayas. Rayas was sweet. he was her friend... and honestly.... He was more than that to her in a way... ((sorry is short... ^^'; ))
{Tag: Gl’wein} It was an all-too-familiar laugh that caused J’degar to look behind him. “I won’t have to manage my tongue if they do what I say.” He replied grumpily. He didn’t necessarily WANT to be a weyrlignmaster, but his weyrwoman had given him and Gl’wein the rank and he wasn’t going to get himself kicked out by denying it. He had looked back to the sands quickly enough to the sands to watch what was going, grunting lightly as the chubby blue chose some girl from the collection of candidates. He kept his comments to himself though.
“What?” He turned around in confusion at the word ‘gift’ and found himself face to face with a tabby cat. His eyes widened with a look of ‘awwww’ before he caught himself and returned his expression to its default grimace.
“Now why in all of Pern would I want some mangy wild feline?” He asked, though he took the cat and cuddled it into his chest all the same.
Soheath rumbled in approval as the first, and seemingly slowest, of the clutch hatched and impressed. A good choice, to be sure. Indeed, Amiith. Mine wonders if the theme will continue throughout the hatching. He shuffled his wings and settled more comfortably, feeling as if this hatching was going to be a slower one.
Trouble? He commented to both Ad’os and Amiith as the Unthinkable Happenstance Egg hatched. At first everything seemed to be going swell; the hatchling impressed before it had even gotten out of the egg all the way. Then it’s…. ‘twin’ had come out. Like a mirror opposite in every way, Soheath had never expected anything so vicious to come from an amethyst egg.
Danarvi cried the moment he saw the bloodshed on the sands and Ari was doing everything in her power to calm him, though she was equally upset by the sudden turn of events. Above her, Harmony flew in tense circles aboce, easily distressed by Her’s emotions. In their upset state, none of the little group seemed to notice Virath’s impression.
Unlike many of the other eggs on the sands, the Dualities egg did not seem to be wiggling about in an effort to hatch, in fact, those watching would need to pay especially close attention to notice that it was vibrating very lightly. A crack ran down its side, along the split of black and white as if trying to separate the very balance of the shell. The piece fell to the side and for a moment there was no movement.
Olive green wings stretched up slowly but confidently, taking in heat and drying as the hatchling remained where she was, revealing lighter markings on the tips of her wing fingers. Then, as if accepting that it was time, the Dualities Green unfurled herself, rising with an almost practiced ease. She was a sight to behold! Large for a green, she appeared to have almost perfect anatomy… if not for the abnormally large thighs that could now be seen. She cared little about what the humans thought of her, however. Wings tucked back against her body as she glanced about the sands, calmly gathering information and calculating the best action to take.
She could see that disastrous events had unfolded moments ago, but that didn't worry her. She gave her siblings on the sand a disapproving glare. They were weak and foolish and should have made it off the sands by now instead of wasting time. She had no use of such foolishness. No, the Dualities Green had a goal; she needed to find someone. Someone who would help her achieve the things she could not do alone. Where was she to find this person?
Ah, among the white-robed candidates perhaps? It could be done. From where she stood, the Dualities Green gazed at each candidate in turn, looking to see if she could find a perfect match from so far away. The candidates were an eyesore, and many were too weak to match her. Perhaps she should bide her time; wait, and see what would become of this. Lifting her dark green front leg, she nuzzled sand of the pale tips before beginning to clean herself of the sticky egg remnants.
Inali
The Weyrwoman watched horrified from the stands as the black and purple dragonet attacked not one but two hatchlings, not to mention she had killed a candidate. "That's...oh...T'rian." The goldrider shook her head, not able to believe what she was seeing. Loraketh was unable to do anything either, she just couldn't bring herself to put her own child down. "She won't kill her Tor...she can't. She shouldn't, but that's..." Moving to nuzzle against her weyrmate's shoulder, she tried to fight away the tears.
"He was my best friend's son T'rian!" Inali wept as she remembered the girl she had grown up with on Ista, the one that had stayed behind after she had impressed a green and Inali had left with her mother. The one that had left with S'vrin's group and had ignored the fact that she had a child to look after. Inali had taken Azeal in after that. Her hands shaking, Inali clutched the Weyrleader's arm as she dared to look at what was going on down on the sands.
Alyara
Avirith keened as she watched the dragonets hatch. This is wrong, Mine.... Shaking her head, the green noticed Hers was shivering, her arms encircling her body. Follow me Mine. The green nudged her rider along, moving over to where Kayath was. She needs a friend right now, and I do too....it's hard not to go down there and stop this. It is not our place though. The dragoness keened again as she nudged her rider to a sitting position near J'dol and the others.
Looking over, Ara didn't even really recognize that she had moved. "How...not even the garnets were that bad...." She shook her head, fearing that the dark dragonet would come up to the stands next. I'd protect you AraMine.
